 Here's the story....

We have an '88 Tarago GLS :-

Left Bendigo on Thursday went via Seymour and had cruise control on and running a 105 kmh up the Hume to Albury - filled up at albury and as soon as we got back on the Hume the "Check Engine" light started coming on intermittently - it would flash on briefly then stay off for 50 - 60 kms then flash again.

Spent the night at Yass and filled up again - got to just north of Goulburn and switched on cruise control again and first kickback on a hill had the dreaded check engine light flash again - switched off cruise and only had it flash twice up till Sydney.

Filled up again in Sydney - didn't use cruise control but had the light flash once between Sydney and Port Macquarie - this was when overtaking a truck up hill on the Pacific Hwy before Newcastle.

Anyone have any ideas what may be happening ?- our thoughts were fuel - maybe Ethanol in the unleaded ? - but to be honest, we really don't have a clue - if it stayed on we would probably have a better idea, but the intermittent coming on has us stumped....

Any speculations welcome!

Best off taking it to a dealer, get it checked and they'll let you know exactly what it is...

UPDATE

After getting it finally to a dealer after months of fiddling with our local guy - tests on the 'puter showed faulty throttle sensor and temp sensor.
