Hey guys,

I current have a 1980 RA40 Celica with a 3-Speed Automatic and was wondering how easy/hard it would be to swap the 3-Speed for the 5-Speed Manual that was also available in the RA40.

Can I do it by myself with the correct tools/parts and a manual, or should it be done by a mechanic/shop?

Cheers in advance,

Phill.

Hi PhillC, i too am looking at doing the same swap. Its not hard to do but there is just a few parts needed to change over (gearbox, clutch, pedal, tailshaft, linkages etc). If you are able to take the car off the road i suggest doing the work yourself. It's more rewarding, and you'll then know how to do it for next time.
