unknown noise[brakes?]

hi there.

first up i have to tell you that i'm not a mechanically minded car owner, i've tried to learn stuff, however it seems to go in one ear and out the other. i have a question regarding my '89 corolla hatch, auto.

today i noticed for the first time that as i'm braking and almost coming to a standstill, there is a sorta 'clunk, clunk' sound that is in time with the slowing of the wheels. i can feel the clunking thru' the brake pedal. i presume it is brake related but have no idea in what way.

any ideas what it may be?

thanks.

Is it like a pulsing through the brake pedal? Does the car pull a little side to side during this?

Sounds like the rotors are 'warped'. If so there are 2 options, have the rotors machined (if there is enough metal to remove) or replace them.
