Supra for a first car? Ive been driving sports cars (hah) for a while and I'm finding my first Supra a bit of a handful. Sure you dont want to try something a little more sedate?

I bought a NA 5 speed manual Supra as my first car 6 months ago and to be honest I love it. There is enough power to have fun but it's not that much really compared with a turbo so it's linear and managable. I've joined the QLD supra club as well as this club and the information you can get off these places is worth A LOT of money to you so do your research before you do anything. Since owning the car there have been a few hairy situations but the ABS works a treat and if the grip does let go and you find yourself sideways when you maybe didn't want to it's still very manageable.

Don't expect to have happy passengers in the back unless they have no legs or heads...

ok kool how much did u pick it up for? and how much head room is in it?

Head room isn't really an issue. I'm taller than most and because of the super low seating position there's no worries. The back seat has no room for legs or heads though so just bear in mind your really buying a 2 seater lol. People will fit but it won't be comfy.

I got mine for $15k from a dealer and it had federal tyres all-round, veilside side skirts and a bomex (not genuine or badly installed) front bumper. It had the factory recaros in there too which are a nice touch. To be honest I got real lucky, if I had my time again I would probably do a few things differently. Depending on what you want, either got a stock body or check over the install of the bodykit you get. Things like panels not matching up, loose fitting, etc are things to be aware of. May not be a reason to not buy but could tell the car is over-priced. Also check for things like brake pad wear, oil level and colour (ie. dark black is not so good), fluid levels as well as checking general stuff like making sure all the electrics work (including on the seats if still the stock seats), accident history via V Check, service history (especially the 100k service as this is very important but expensive so get receipts/log book not just word of mouth), etc.

Apart from that they're pretty great cars that are generally hard to break :)

To be honest, if your looking for a practical car that's easy on your prosthetic hip then a supra is not something I would recommend really. The driving postion is right down low, I find it to be quite comfortable and have done a few longer trips (over 7 hours) and it's not a problem. A skyline would be easier to get in and out of I'd say. It depends what you want to use the car for really...
