KX-R Front Brakes

Can someone tell me if this is the normal appearance of the front disc brakes on a KX-R?

Maybe I've just never noticed them before, but it looked to me as though something should be covering the area where the little brass coloured cylinders with green on them are at either end?

Looks to me like the brake pad retention spring clips.. My KX-R is the same..
