Hey I've recently bought a '93 SX Celica. I want to convert it from auto to manual. Most people have suggested I just buy a new manual one, but the reason I don't want to do this is because this engine I have right now has only done 80k and is in really good nick (and so is the bodywork and paintwork). I don't have much experience with modding, tuning, and mechanical stuff (I'm only a young P-plater and no one in the family knows anything either :P) but I'm trying to learn so take it easy on me :) Cheers in advance guys.

Hi Mate,

Congrats on the purchase, celicas are great cars :)

as for your question, a manual conversion is not an overly hard job for someone who knows what they are doing...

You would need;

Gearbox (duh)

Manual shifter

Shifter Cables

Manual ECU (or trick the auto ECU)

Pedal Box

Clutch hardlines

Clutch master cylinder

Clutch slave cylinder

Flywheel + Machening

new clutch

thats about all i can think of at the moment, so there are a few parts you will need to get.

To be honest, to pay a mechanic to do it would be more than the car is worth, but if you have a friend that can do it cheap then it might be worth it.

Also, if you live in Brisbane I might be able to help you...

Wow thanks mate, unfortunately I live in NSW :( I have a friend who knows what he is doing though so we might make it a job to do together.
