Central locking question

Hi all,

Just a quick question about central locking on a 2009 Camry. Is it normal that, when you lock the doors from the inside using the button on the drivers door, none of the 4 doors will open with the inside handle? If I forget to press the unlock button before trying to open the drivers door with the handle (pretty regularly :), the door doesn't open, it just goes to a sort of half-latch at best, and then I have to pull hard on the door to reclose it and stuff around with the lock/unlock tab a bit until it decides to let me out.

I'm not sure if it is related, but the central locking also seems to get confused quite often when the key fob is being used, eg. beeps twice to lock and once to unlock, other times it's vice versa. Sometimes after one of the episodes above, it won't lock OR beep until I have played around with the locking tab some more!

We're just mildly concerned about the issue of the doors not opening with the handle in the event of an accident, so would like to know if the system is designed this way or if we might have a fault.

Thanks,

Jordie

If doors are locked from the inside the door will not open if u pull the handle, u will need to unlock first.

With the alarm, one beep means lock, two beeps unlock. Not vice versa.

If u unlock the car u have 30 sec - 1 min to open the door or else it will lock again.

Theres nothing wrong with your Camry, Dont stress :)

My 2010 Touring SE beeps 3 times to unlock and doesn't beep at all to unlock. Is this stuff programmable? What can I do? HELP!

Yes its programmable, next time your down at toyota for a service, get them to program it, it wont cost anything as the car is under warranty. just say it was working fine before now its not :)
