It may fall under the misleading and deceptive conduct provisions of the trade practices act. Just keep pestering them and take it up with the office of fair trading. If you become a big enough pain then maybe they will just swap it over to get rid of you.

Just to finish off this thread. I've accepted $200 as a goodwill gesture - just can't be bothered going down the legal route even though I think I've got a good case.

I guess the next question is which unit and do you recommend as an upgrade that it is iPod compatible but doesn't necessarily have to be a 6 CD stacker? And which audio specialist to fit it?

Thanks.

The OEM unit is not great, especially the bluetooth.

If you have to fit a new one anyway - look around for a decent aftermarket unit. Some have already done it on here and you have the possibility of incorporating DVD, Navigation etc..

There is a reason that there are plenty of OEM ones available for sale B)

Come to think of it, my bluetooth was crap on my original unit and it was replaced under warranty. I reckon the replaced units are probably surfacing on ebay and maybe at some markets, so I'd be inclined to go for the non OEM units. That way, you would have some warranty should something go wrong.

post-24183-0-07084200-1304249509_thumb.jI have recently purchased a Kluger KXR (2nd hand) and it has this audio unit (including bluetooth) - SEE PIC

The manual that came with the vehicle doesn't match this particular unit.

Is anyone able to give me instructions on how to connect to bluetooth and/or how to use the little 'red' and 'green' phone icons that appear on the front of the unit.

Please, help. :(

To access the phone functions you need to press the green handset button, then turn the tune knob to choose the option, and press the tune knob to select. The green handset button also answers calls. The red handset button gets out of phone mode completely and hangs up a call.

To pair a phone you need to:

  1. Press the green handset button
  2. Turn the tune knob and select BLUETOOTH
  3. turn the tune know and select REGSTR PHONE
  4. It should display HANDSFREE.
  5. Scan for bluetooth devices on your phone
  6. Select HANDSFREE from the list of devices
  7. The pin code will show on the radio display and enter it into your phone.
  8. The radio display will show WAITING and then COMPLETED once connected
  9. Press the red handset button to exit the phone mode.

You can change the bluetooth pin somewhere under either BLUETOOTH or SETTINGS.

You can pair multiple phones although you need to manually select which one to use. This occurs under BLUETOOTH->SELECT PHONE

The unit will not download and store your phone's address book, however you can assign up to 6 speed dial numbers by using the 1-6 keys on the unit. There is a setting under PHONEBOOK somewhere. When entering names and numbers you will need to hold down the Tune button once the last number/characted is entered.

There are two ways to make a call:

  1. Dial the number from your phone to initiate the call. The call should transfer to the handsfree once it starts dialing.
  2. For the programmed speed dials, hit the green handset, press 1-6, hit the green handset.

To end a call either disconnect with your handset or use the red handset button on the unit.

Turning the volume button during a call changes the speaker volume of the call.

There are some other functions, but you will need to explore the menus.

The handsfree functionality is pretty basic.

You can only access the calling functions for the handsfree when the vehicle is in motion.

Hope this helps.
