4age vs 4afe @402m

Recommended Posts

Dont get the 4A FE. I remember them now. A friend of mine bought a Camry Lumiere. Id never seen one, it was small and very tidy, but gutless. It was also incredibly lightweight at 1160 kg. I put in new plugs and high flow filter and it went a lot better, but it seemed to have no torque between 50 and 90k. A real dead spot. It had the 4AFE 1.8L and was an auto. I checked out its torque curve and it looked good, peaking quite low.

I took it to th egarage to see if there was anything wrong with it, and the mechanice laughed and said that particular model was really gutless!

It had the 4AFE 1.8L

Does not exist. 4AFE is 1.6L, 7AFE is 1.8L.

and was an auto.

There's your real problem....

As for OP, definitely go the 4AGE, unless you are simply pottering around town. 7AFE vs 4AGE might be a different story though (my 7A is capable of matching stock big and smallport 4AGEs, not 20Vs though)
