Hi Everyone,

I have been using Mobil 1 5w-30 and will be towing a van to northern Australia. I have been advised to change to 0w-40 grade. Has anyone have an opinion on this. Will that effect fuel economy one way or another. I live in Adelaide.

Thanks

John

Hi,

I have used Valvoline 0-40 in the Kluger for about 18months. during this time we towed a 1650kg van to Darwin & back to Mildura, overall about 10,000k's. I'm sure the fuel economy improved while using the oil. We averaged about 16.5 L/100 towing and under 10 not towing with an AWD which consumes a bit more than the FWD. A bit expensive tho. I'm now looking at the Penrite oil which is Australian made, full synthetic, a bit cheaper as well, but only 5w-40

cheers

Geoff
