series 1 RAV4 - aging well? any gotchas?

Hi

I am looking to buy an early model RAV 4 as I think they are a car which will suite my purposes (all roads 4WD, some snow and often slush and dirt roads). However I am considering the first model to attempt to save money.

I understand that there are some problems with head bolts and the threads into the block, but aside from that are there any other points I should watch out for?

Thanks heaps

:-)
