  1. I've done 88k on my Michellins and told at 85k service I had 4mm left on them. I do City driving and M7, M5 bmotorway driving in Sydney. I've been impressed by the tyres generally. Always rotated at service and aligned every 6 months.
  2. Are you on here just to sell Towbars?? Or is there some other point to this??
  3. bump... anyone? I just logged into the Toyota Link website and found that my free membership will expire sometime next year (the expiry date used to be blank and does not contain a date). There is also a payment button now, so I clicked this and proceeded to make a payment (not really going ahead with the payment as it's not due till next year), so that I can find out how much I'll be charged. It turns out that you need to pay $240 per year to renew your Toyota Link subscription after your initial free period of 3 years. Personally, I will not be renewing after the free period as I really have not had to use it (in an emergency) since I had the car. What do you guys and gals think? Would you pay the $240 per year to extend the Toyota Link subscription? Definitely not at that price, or any price. As Daryl says things like NRMA membership are much lower price and probably better value. I'll actually be glad to get rid of the annoying loud beep from my left rear speaker whenever I start the car.
  4. To my knowledge Toyota have disabled this function in the unit itself? This is one of the reasons that I replaced mine with the Auspack.
  5. Can't see why it would. It's only software. You can always put your old disc back in at any time?
  6. On the tomtom you just need the ov2 file, you can set distance from camera before warning. File is only 11KB, if you want to try it, let me know. I would be most grateful if you could help me get it working.........thanks
  7. I took my factory unit out and replaced with the Auspack unit. You are correct in most of your assumptions. The best thing for me was the lighting at night is a lot better as the buttons are lit up, not the whole panel. You can use the unit while moving and you can use the usb for music. iPod, I have in the glove box. The factory GPS is much better than either the Tomtom or Igo8, but as you know there is no speed shown or speed cameras (although Igo8 camera alert is too loud and too long in terms of it starting a few blocks away and blocks out your music) and Tomtom does not have the speed camera facility with the version you get. You have to pay for it on a subscription basis on the tomtom website (about $40 per annum) The factory bluetooth is also better and clearer as it uses the built in mic up near the mirror. The auspac bluetooth is unreliable and slow and does not interface with your steering wheel controls. I notice that the factory unit I took out is a Fujitsu 10 "made in Japan" and the Auspac is made in China. The GPS antenna also has a different connection and so I installed the Auspack one next to the factory one. I was able to use my factory installed camera, although not a straight forward interface and a lot of cutting and splicing wires. Overall for the money the Auspac is OK and I have seen the same unit on Ebay for around $700.00. Personally I think Toyota should have put more thought into the unit as the bright blue panels at night nearly put me off buying the car altogether. You may be able to dim the panels as DJKOR pointed out by putting something behind the bulbs to cut down the light.
  8. I don't know how they can say this when both units are identical??? I have a Presara and wanted to change the factory unit and so I emailed Ryda with some questions and I emailed Auspack. Rob from Auspack got back to me within an hour. It took nearly two weeks for Ryda to get back to me, but with no answers, only: bring it in and we'll have a look at it. By this time I had purchased the unit from Auspack and had it delivered. Fitting was quite easy apart from interfacing the factory camera that I have which is fed 6 volts from the original unit. I had to step the voltage down and work out the wiring from the factory plug which also housed the wiring for the Presara inbuilt microphone for the bluetooth. Also the GPS antenna connection is different and so I installed the Auspack antenna next to the factory one under the dash on top of the centre vent ducting. Overall the austpack unit is very good. IGO8 is excellent. The only complaint I have is the Bluetooth is a little lazy and spasmodic in the way it works.Sometimes you can answer the phone and other times it doesn't respond. You have to check that it connects each time. I'm debating to sell the original unit or keep it as a spare.
  9. just tried my key in the Presara and turned anti clockwise and it worked. looks like you may have a fault somewhere....good luck and let us know what it turns out to be.
  10. V15 is out now, we should be trying to get a copy of this?
  11. Good Luck and great choice of car. Your posts have been great! Cheers
  12. There's one for sale here: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOYOTA-AURION-CHROM...p3286.m20.l1116 it's at ebay stores. In the search put in Aurion Chrome and it comes up. $190 + freight Cheers
  13. Sounds like you need the official Toyota Dash rattle repair kit. They pull out the dash and have new foam inserts etc for the dash mounting points. Overall, yes it is a bit of a creaky car and I think it is the hard plastics used everywhere, centre console I've had out a number of times applying bits of foam to stop it creaking. I also had a rattling in the drivers A pillar and it was the cables in there rattling about. There is actually supposed to be something that holds them all together but was left out of mine. good Luck!
  14. Thanks for trying this guys, now I know I am not the only one, maybe it's just normal. Sorry if I've now given you all something to listen out for and be annoyed, its just that to me it sounds very loud to be just a warning beep, especially if you compare it to say the parking sensors............
  15. Let me clarify. I bought my car from Peter Davey in Werribee. My first 1,000kms inspection/check-up was with them, they fixed my A/C (under-bonnet) rattle successfully. Great service. Werribee is however very inconvenient for me, I only bought my car from there because they offered the best deal. The idea was I only go there to pick up my car (test-drove elsewhere), and that was to be the only trip to Werribee. The 15,000 service was done at another dealer. That's where I had to take my car back a few times for poorly completed dash re-assembly after they attempted to fix my dash rattle. It is this repairer that I was unhappy with. I'm reluctant to name them just yet in case it was just my car and I that was unfortunate... Let's just say that they're much closer to Melb CBD than Werribee is. To answer your question (what should you do), if Werribee is convenient for you, lucky you. Stick with it, I would. Theres an old topic/posts regarding dash rattles somewhere on the forum as I had my car in about 4 times before they decided to get a new dash from Japan. this still didn't fix the problem and so Toyota Tech in Melbourne got them to check the wiper assembly under the cover in the engine side/firewall area. sure enough there was a cover under there that had hand tigntened nuts and the cover wad rattling away and coming through like a sort of dash creaking noise. even though its now fixed, my car has never been the same as there is small scratches and nicks and grubby marks from having the dash pulled apart so many times. just be careful that you don't end up with the same problem. good Luck!
