    I just wanted to add that even though the booth is smaller on a hatch then on a sedan it is usualy more usable. And when folding down the back seat a sedan never can compete with a hatch when it comes to hauling large objects. I drove a sedan with a hughe booth (subaru legacy) and it way way less practical then even the trunk of my tine Yaris ...

  2. Before you start screaming 'USE THE **** SEARCH FUNCTION' first read on ...

    This might be a completely idiotic question but i do have to ask.

    When installing an aftermarket ECU like the Dastek (piggyback) or the S-AFC2Power FC (replacement) what happens to your electronic driving asistence? Like Traction control, ABS, VSC and airbags? Do they still work ?

    I imagine that with a piggyback there is ofcourse no problem because the ECU is still there but what with the replacements like the S-AFC2Power FC ?

    And while I'm at it another enginemod question:

    Is it usefull to install the hondata intake manifold heat shield without performing the coolant bypass? It seems to be a bit strange to insulate something that gets heated anyway ... I'm asking this because i'm not to eager to bypass the coolant since we here have several months where temps stay well below 10°C and pretty regular dips below 0. Or is that no argument ? why does it need heating? Could use some help makking up my mind :)

  3. Stangely here in Belgium we do not have that kind of choise in fuels. Every brand just caries 2 types, 95 ron and 98 ron. I always fuel up with 95 but from a premium brand, no sucky no name fuels. 95% of the time its ESSO and sometimes Shell. And even that costs about 1.2€ !!!! a liter !!!!!

    My tank seems to be smaller since I never could tank more than 48 liters (and that was after driving a almost dangerous time with the warning light on).

    Ow, and I do run on pretty wide rubber, 215 ... Thats not helping either ofcourse.

    Anyway, my Tsport Yaris with the 1.5 VVTi engine consumes about 8 liters/ 100 so i'm not complaining, 2 liters of consumption more for about 90 horses and 300 cc's more. Thats a pretty good deal :D

    The best I've done is like 510 km and at that time I must have been driving on fumes just before I filled her up. Usualy I just barely get 450 a tank. So a bit more than 10l/100km seems to be my fuel 'economy'.

    Mostly urban driving and well, there ain't no mile I drive without hitting lift or at least flooring the pedal :D

  6. I must be the onlyone who actualy really dreamed of the Corolla Sportivo.

    I always had a weak spot for cars wich are faster then they look. And with the look sportivos get here in Belgium I can pretty damn shure say they look a whole lot slower then they are. Ad up to that the extremely dull image Toyota hase over here and you get the perfect sleeper.

    So since I know of their existense I really wanted one. And about 1 year ago I got one !!!

    So I already drive one of mu dreamcars.

  7. I had the remus on my Rolla when I bought it. Looks descent but sound is really well, almost nonexistant. So mine had to go ... Although I heard it actualy does provide some extra oompff compared to the stock one ...

    Still have it lying around in as good as new shape.

  8. Super low sportivo will : have 1 finger gap front, and 3 finger gap rears when settled.

    That sounds higher then my Corolla and I have no problem whatsoever getting everywhere I want. I do not have a bodykit tho. That combination could be a bit to much to clear everything. And rubbing??? I sit on 18/7.5's with 225/40 tyres. No rubbing exept for when i't my own foult: 2 people in a car, fast corner AND bumps in the road. In those conditions I noticed some slight rubbing. Happened 2 times in 8000 km's.

  9. Maybe its far worth changing into hi flow cat once u turbo or s/c your car.

    And again I need to agree. The exhaust for a NA engine is way more critical then the exhaust for a car with forced induction. On a NA car you need some kind of pressure to get the gasses out at a high speed. Thats the reason that you schould really think when choosing the diameter of your exhaust system. The speed of the gasses getting out schould be not to fast, nor to slow (faster in a thin pipe, slower in a larger pipe). Why? Because the exhaustgasses create somekind of suction in the stage where the exhaustgasses exit the cilinder. And this suction is created by speeding the exhaust gasses. When your exhaust is to big it will slow the gasses down and thus create less suction wich leaves less room for new and fres air/fuel mixture in the cilinder. When you pipe is to small it will just create to much pressure and thus again hindering the suction.

    This is also the reason that exhausts on 2 stroke engines in general (from RC nitro engines over lawnmowers to racebikes) are extremely important for the performance of the engine. Since they don't have valves they rely completely on presure and suction to get the old gasses out and the new in.

    Hope it is understandable :)

    For a turboed car it is way simpeler. You already have a huge problem with your exhaust, namely a turbo is in it's way ... Thus the only task for your exhaust is to give the turbo as less pressure as possible at it's exit side. So fit the largest tubing you can find ... The suction thinghy is now the problem of the downpipe which is also the reason a downpipe can make a serious difference on a turbo's car, also when the exhaust already has a large diameter.

    SC cars folow the rules of NA cars, just larger diameters then for NA. Which is logical, if you want to have the same speed of the exhaust gasses you will need more diameter because there are simply more gasses in comparison to a NA car with the same displacement.

  10. I can confirm what Danz said. Prior to fitting my exhaust system i did a lot of mailing and phoning around to get the may info i found and every reliable source told me to just keep the original because one that would really be better then the stock one would cost me a fortune for a really small gain (1, maybe 2 horses).

    So i ended up with a 60mm line from the cat to the rear with a Rally group N silenser at the end. It's loud but really ok when cruising. Only when really hot and while breaking on the engin it gets LOUD betwean 4 and 3 K. I'm sattisfied with it because the gain in power was significant and clearly translated in a faster 0-100 and a faster 400m.

  11. Plenty of friends of me drive on Eibach stuff and the quality is amazing ! For that price you are about to pay You cannot even get them on the cheapest german ebay shop for that money.

    And a 2 inch drop is no problem at all to drive around, you will still have plenty of clearance for everything.

  12. With a 50 mm drop and stock or larger tyres you should have almost no gap anymore in the front. Anyway, I don't think I have a gap (cfr garage) and my tires are not even 1% over stock size. Dropped 2 inches with H&R springs. Compared to a completely 'normal' Corolla im WAY lower.

    Do not forget that new springs have to setlle, expect easely 5 to 10 mm drop extra in the 2-3 weeks after they are installed.

  13. They wont scrub! This size tyre is the correct one for the job. If you punch the specs of the stock rubber into a tyre calculator you will find that 225/35/18 is the closest match in rolling circumference without going over. I have the exact same tyres, nice boots for the money!

    Alot of guys tried to talk me into a 215/35/18 but its way off for rolling circumference and too narrow across the rim, tyre gutter protector doesnt even come into play as the tyres are 'pulled' across the rim.

    Both 225/35 and 225/40 should be legal, they both are less then 1% of the original size. But the 40's will give you plenty more comfort.

    The 215/35's would be killer from a standpoint of looks but not so fun if comfort is important. It being stretched poses no problem at al and the wheel protectors are BS anyway. You schould see what gets stretched over rims in europe. a 195 on a 7.5 or 8" rim is no exeption. Looks awsome !!!

  14. Yeah, the 330cd isn't bad but it's only slightly faster then a rolla and at double the price and almost double the cc's + a turbo i'm not impressed with it's performance.

    The 2.2 from toyo is a far better engine. 400 nm's and 177 horses make it only slightly less potent then the BMW engine but it weighs way less and has 800 cc less displacement.

    I mean, even BMW buys diesel engines from toyota ...

  15. Do not overestimate those diesels. I'm from Belgium, THE diesel country. More than 60% are diesel cars here. And the performance of those VW diesels isn't so great as you would think. They do have a lot of torque and horses but they lack revs. They loose enourmously amounts of time shifting. And to be honnest, it's boring as hell to drive.
