  1. Agree with the other guys but have a look on Ebay a mate of mine picked up a Auto for V6 camry there for $500 from a wreckers also if your good mates with a motor mech ask him to buy it because trade for a Auto at a wreckers is about $400 cheers Lozza
  2. G'day again , Hope you haves sorted your problem Whip but it may pay to check the plug from the fan that plugs into the pwr steering as if its loose that will slow the fan as well Lol . Oh by the way their a mongerel of a thing to get plug in right too! Have a good Christmas Cheers Lozza
  3. G'day Mate I have just been through this sort of drama after a rebuild , I had the Radiator recoed and it blocked again after 1,000 k's. Also I had a leak in the power steering pump hence loss of fluid which meant the fan wasn't operating as it should. Good Luck Lozza
  4. G'day everyone , Problem fixed the radiator was blocked again due to further rubbish from the cooling system :) We sent it to a different radiator place :) Now running at normal temps Yayyyyyyyyyyyy!!!! so hopefully get another 300,000 K's out of it lol thanks for the advice received ...Long live the Camry :) Cheers Lozza
  5. Hi Kezz, Sounds like a head gasket, but make sure you get your radiator reconditioned or properly cleaned. If you see my post under overheating Camry V6 you will see have had similar problems . Thank goodness we might have solved mine will know this afternoon , the problem was even though we had the radiator cleaned while the engine was being rebuilt it got blocked again after 200k's because there was still some rubbish that hadn't flushed out from the previous flushing . Also you might be just losing coolant through the overflow bottle as if the radiator is blocked the the cooling system just pushes it out through the bottle ....Which was happening to me , the car was fine at idle never got hot but after a couple of k's it would overheat. But its a concern the in your words you have white exhaust smoke , So I would find another mechanic for starters and get them as the previous poster stated a gas test or a block test , also have a look at your oil is it clean or does it show signs of water in it ? Cheers Lozza

  7. Hi Gav, Thanks for the reply but has new rad hoses and new timing belt etc and the Fans workining ok Cheers Lozza
  8. Thanks for your reply Lateralaus, this problem is driving us nuts atm 1, All parts are genuine and correct. 2, The motor spits the water out via the overflow bottle rather than circulate it hence it overheats 3, If remove the thermostat and bypass the overflow bottle the temp gauge starts at cold then runs around half in city traffic but cools on the freeway . 4, there are no leaks anywhere. This motor just seems to be doing everything it shouldn't cooling wise other than that its a gem , just like all the motors this guy has previously built for me ,We have to laugh or else we would go nuts lol. The reason for the rebulid was at 320,000 k I bent the crank :( So we completely stipped it down cleaned everything got a new crank , new gaskets etc it started first turn of the key but the temp wasn't right from the word go:( The friend who has done the rebuild is a top spanner guy and the other motors he has done for me have had other 200,000 k put on them before I've sold the vehicles ( I do about a 1,000k a week lol) And this V6 was returning about 700k per tank .anyways will keep you posted we are thinking of taking the heads off again in case it was a faulty gasket , thank goodness its only costing me parts . Cheers Lozza
