  1. as for loactions, i am pretty happy with photos from the southperth "bridge", but am keen to find some open carparks to shoot in as well? possibly the southperth boat launching area?

I am located NoR and South Perth is not too far. I am a noob at photography and only owned "point and shoot" cameras so I'll probably leave the shooting to the pros.

I'll also need to give the car a wash as well before the shoot as she's filthy at the moment! :o

  2. The code is "CMDAY20", but the thing is, you can only enter it once the item is purchased.

Thanks - I'll try the code when I purchase the UR Bars in the next day or so. It's a bonus if it works, otherwise, I am still happy to pay the full price for the performance gains... :D

  3. [it's an invite only offer. Certain PayPal members are sent a code that enables them to obtain this discount when they go through the checkout. Unfortunately it's not one of their offers that everyone gets.

Does anybody know whether this PayPal code can be used for multiple transactions by different users?

  4. Can you please provide a link to the PayPal 20% off offer? I clicked on the link to CTECH, however, cannot see the PayPal offer.

    Thanks in advance.

That sucks... I was going to buy both front and rear bars straight away with the 20% discount... I'll probably still buy them in the next few days given all the positive reports of people that have them installed.

Thanks for clearing that up DJ.

  5. PayPal has a deal going at the moment offering 20% off any eBay purchase (to a maximum discount of $100), provided you pay with PayPal. I'm thinking of buying some Ultra Racing bars off eBay to take advantage of this offer: Ultra Racing on eBay

    Two questions:

    1. Is there any reason that it would be a bad idea to get these off eBay rather than from the Aussie retailer?

    2. Most people I've spoken to only seem to get the front strut bar and rear sway bar... I'm thinking of getting the front lower bar as well. Has anyone else fitted this? Is it just a waste of money??

  6. well due to me not having access to a car for most of the weekend, i couldnt get out to jason's place to get the scan thingy... :(

so dropped it off to toyota this morning and had a phone call from them 2hrs later...

    diagnosis:

the hose that connects the supercharger and the wastegate actuator is COMPLETELY MISSING... its not just disconnected from one end.. its completely gone...

i asked the guy how this could have happened, and he said that he's never seen something like this happen before...

so anyway, the result of this happening is that on idle, its running really lean hence the rough idle... and then while driving, the ecu is freaking out and dumping fuel in... apparently up to 20% on each injector! hence the feeling of choking... :(

the hose is ex sydney, so is apparently going to take a couple of days to come in.. :(

they're looking for another option to tie me over until then though.

so anyway, thats the cause of my errors... god knows how the fuq this pipe came off BOTH ends, but it did...

Glad to hear that the root cause of the problem has been identified and hopefully there is no permanent damage. :)

Due to your bad luck, this incident has highlighted a potential issue that the rest of us TRD owners have to be aware of... ;)

  7. With regards to that, I fuelled up with what was available. Unfortunately 95 was all that seemed to be around. You can see I only filled up a small amount of 91 to get me to the next town.

On 95, it seemed to operate fine. I avoided putting my foot down and/or going above 5000RPM where possible, but in the moments where I had to, it seemed alright.

When I filled with 91, I drove with a lot of caution just to be on the safe side. I wasn't really testing the effects of the fuel, so I can't really accurately comment. I was just doing what I had to do.

It's comforting to know that there is no long term adverse effect on the TRD if we had to use lower RON fuel where the preferred 98RON fuel is not readily available, provided we go easy on the throttle. :yahoo:

I think I can ditch the jerry can on long trips now - I carried spare 98RON fuel on a recent trip as I was not sure whether I can get good clean 98RON fuel. :o

  8. But then my neat little place will be given away

Nah, I'd really recommend using this spot. Once you put the cover back on it, you won't even know it's there. Just ignore the dirt which I didn't clean before the photo, and the messy silicone around the ballast (I don't trust the claims that these cheap kits are water resistant:

    dsc05887f.th.jpg

My ballasts do get a little warm after extended use, but I wouldn't say hot. The ones like the one I have (the boxy ballast), will produce heat from the DC to AC converter and the transformer component of the ballast. It's nothing to worry about if it produces heat. How much heat it produces depends on how efficient it is. I guess your isn't that efficient.

Thanks Daryl, that's a great spot for the ballasts.... :)

  9. Also found a new place for my ballasts for a much cleaner install.

Daryl, do you mine posting up some photos of the new locations of the ballasts? I too have recently installed a HID kit for my TRD and I'm not too happy with the RHS location of my ballasts (facing the car - battery side). Also, does your ballasts get very hot after extended use of the HIDs?

    Thanks.

  10. Have a look at Melville Toyota. They've got a red 3500S with 7,000 k's for $38500.

Wondering whether this TRD got hail damaged as it was not being advertised for a while after the hail storm and then it's back being advertised again after a couple of weeks! The couple of weeks MIA could be the time taken to pull all the dents out... :spiteful:

I inspected the car the week before the hail storm and it was stuck at the front of the car yard out in the open with heaps of cars blocking a quick exit!! :o

  11. To be honest, I was using that more of an excuse to hide my thoughts that I don't approve of Aurion's out there driving with a TRD kit on with no go under the hood. The fact that there are around 614 genuine TRD's out there makes me want to keep the numbers of them limited.

    +1

  12. It is most likely moisture on the pads. They take a while to dry.

You would think that with the amount of heat generated from using the brakes the pads would dry up pretty quickly?? I drive the car everyday and sometimes need to do a bit of hard braking... :spiteful:

Whining and whinging = don't drive with the missus in the TRD

LOL!! I try to avoid getting in the car with the missus when she's in that sort of mood... :whistling:

  13. I had this exact same issue a few days ago after I washed the car, but found after I left the car alone for 24 hours the sound had disappeared. How often do you wash your car? It sounds like a long shot but I don't believe in coincidences.

Funny you say that... As you know, we had a huge downpour a couple of weeks ago here in Perth and most of the intersections were flooded near my office and on the way home I had to cross a few pools of water a couple of feet deep. Maybe some water got into certain areas where normal wet/rainy road conditions does not? It's been a while now and the creaks are still there. :(

  14. My TRD creaks when it's just about to come to a stop on braking and it tends to be louder if the car is going down a hill and softer if the car is going up a hill! It sometimes (but not always) make a similar sound when I release the brake and take off after coming to a stop (but the creak is much softer). It does not seem to be coming from the brakes, more like it's coming from the front suspension?

Does anyone know what could cause this?

Thanks in advance for your comments. :D

  15. If they are stuck to the inside of the car, I'd recommend removing them and not tinting over them.

Thanks Daryl, I am also thinking of removing them before tinting as they are stuck on the inside and located very close to the edge of the windows. The location of the stickers does not allow much film at the bottom edge to fully cover the stickers allowing the film to peel easily if the "glue" on this thin edge does not hold.

  16. I am getting my car tinted tomorrow morning and I am wondering whether to leave the warning stickers on the side windows or remove them before having the windows tinted. For the TRD, there is a "Toyota Auto Alarm" warning sticker on the front door windows and a "TRD Protected by Data Dot DNA" warning sticker on the rear door windows.

Does leaving the stickers on the window cause any problems with peeling etc. as the stickers are quite close to the edge?

Any TRD owners with tinted windows? Have you removed the warning stickers or left them on?

  17. It's something that I will have to like one way or another.

What happened to the original TRD mesh?? I thought you changed it for a different look. Anyway, I still like it as it does not look out of place and blends in with the car really well.
