  1. The run out they would have been refering to would have been checking the hub for run out before installing the rotors. If the hubs were not in tolerance (ie.. from a kerb impact etc) then the hub(s) should have been replaced before putting the new rotors. I don't see how bendix ct pads could be the cause!?
  2. Thanks Daryl. Thought this may be the case... guess it will be best to just go with an aftermarket sensor kit. Probably going to be tricky to get it to detect a low concrete barrier and not the ground but I will see how it goes! Dan.
  3. Hi, Did a search but couldn't find an answer.... basically what I am interested in doing is installing an additional parking sensor in the centre of the bumper somewhere... possibly through the number plate or just below so it can pick up curb height concrete barriers and the like in carparks. I have a TRD Aurion and the bottom grey section of the front bumper as all TRD aurion owners would be aware is low and sticks out the furthest. My wife has already nudged it a few times now and it had some nice cracks in the centre! The car is in a spray shop as we speak who are plastic welding the cracks from underneath and filling/sanding and re-spraying the bottom section. Now I don't want this to happen again so my question is... can I just add another sensor and hook it up to the existing sensors in series/parallel or however they are connected or is it more complicated then that? Dan.
  4. Update... Well as my wheel ornaments could not get the fix done to them (which is to cut off some of the tabs and install a modified ring) the dealer put in a claim to Toyota and they replaced all four of them at no charge. Another happy customer (almost) :)
  5. Mine has finally been fixed! Turned out to be a faulty AF sensor in the exhaust system (not the MAF sensor or supercharger actuator hose as originally thought).
  6. Hey guys, Well had mine in today again to fix the Check VSC lights on the dash and they did the VVTi oil hose replacement. Didn't get any letter and I didn't even ask for it to be done so thats good I guess! Got them to look at the wheel ornamanents and they were aware of the fix but it could not be done to mine. They still need to call me to explain what happened with them but they are putting in an "out of warranty" request to Toyota to probably get them replaced... will let you know what the deal is.
  7. Not sure why you are waiting so long for the actuator and why it is even coming from Japan? Or is it some other part you are waiting for? You can just purchase an actuator from Harrop (who do the Eaton products in Australia) or there are many other places you can order one direct from the US. Should cost you between $60-$120 AUS and you could get it within a week.
  8. Speaking of not trusting toyota. To be honest I think they currently have no idea what the problem with my car is. I did check the MAF sensor... it appeared very clean but I sprayed a lot of electrical contact cleaner in and gave it a good clean anyway, disconnected the battery but no go... check VSC and engine lights back on seconds after starting car again. I honestly don't think there is a problem with the MAF sensor... I think it is very odd for the MAF sensor to become faulty in that way (they said it is reporting to lean/incorrect mixture?? odd) i will get them to change it like they say but I am going to make sure I don't get charged for it if that was not the prob. I had similar problems with my Hilux... fuel economy dropped dramitacally after they re-flashed my ECU... they looked at it it a few times, said there was no fix and then refused to book my car in to rectify saying there is no current fix for the problem. I took my car to a deisel mechanic who looked at the MAF sensor which was completely covered in black soot... he cleaned it and the next tank economy was instantly back to normal - BTW my Hilux is still under genuine toyota warranty but I had to fork out the money to fix this somewhere else because of there incompitence. Such a simple thing that should be one of the first things they check. SASO1 i think you are currently experiencing the same problem as me... I have had the car in three times now and they keep saying different things... hopefully they are wrong in your case with regards to $$$... I am getting a little scared now that mine will come to the same diagnosis as yours and mine is also out of warranty and they are going to say the supercharger will have to be replaced or something. When I purchased mine I still had about a year manufacturers warranty left and they also provided me with an extra 3 years of their own "mechanical warranty". The manufacturers warranty ran out last year and the mechanical warranty is meant to expire on 08/2013. Even though I have taken my car in every 9 months/15000km as per Toyota's schedule (just had 60000k service and have only done 20000k) they have advised me that my mechanical warranty is void because I have not taken my car in every 6 months or 10000k! Yes, its in the fine print and of course they do not tell you this when they provide you with the extra warranty. I wish I could still take out genuine toyota extra care.. i really should have done this to start off with. It all a big joke to them - absolute worst service I have ever experienced every time I take my car in - they are so incompitent and it takes them several goes to fix every problem. Anyway will see what they come up with next.
  9. Does anyone know what sort of price you would be looking at to replace the a/f sensor in a TRD aurion? I was quoted $430.00 by the dealer. And a dumb question... if I were to change the sensor myself (assuming I could) would the "check vsc" lights on the dash stop coming up automatically, or will the error have to be manually reset with special tools?
  10. Yes there is a steel ring/circle (with a break) that slips on around the outer side of the tabs. I should take a pic for you. Because I have a couple tabs broken on most of mine the steel ring is the only thing that really keeps them on the wheel because the next nearest tab manages to still put enough outward pressure on the spring to keep them in place (if that makes sense!). Makes you wonder what the hell goes on with our wheels when they are in the shop.
  11. Hey Adamsy, Thanks for the good news! When you say "new design rings" do you mean there is a whole new cap ornament that is available for purchase? I will need to get new ones for mine... recently took them off (for the first time) only to discover half the tabs broken off and they had been put back on with dabs of a thick black bitumen type sealant (looks like some type of gasket goo or something). Now the only people that have ever taken them off (to rotate wheels etc) is the Toyota dealership. But its my word against theirs - I can't prove a thing and they definately won't admit it... so hopefully they are not to expensive.
  12. Just had a similar problem with mine. Check engine/VSC system lights came on in mine. Originally thought it was the air hose from the supercharger which was swollen and loose on the supercharger end. They replaced the hose under warranty but now they are saying it wasn't that and it is a faulty sensor so its stuffing up the fuel mixtures slightly. In the process of getting parts (again under warranty) and should be fixed in the next week or so.
  13. Around 35,000km to 45,000km seems to be the norm with the TRD's. Just because they wear down this quick doesn't necessarily translate to aggressive driving. SupaTouring and SecaBoy both had TRD's which had their rotors wear at the typical rate for these cars and I wouldn't say that their cars were treated badly. Remember, a lot of city driving can easily accelerate the wear as well since there is a lot of start stop. So those first 14,000km your TRD went through may not have been as harsh as you may think. In addition to that, I feel the pads on these 'drag' quite a bit more than what I would call normal. Just go driving slowly next to a wall or something and you can hear the pads dragging on the rotors a little. Hi Peeps, I agree with 'DLKOR' on the Kms, I love the way the TRD goes and STOPS hehe. My TRD has just hit 90K, right on Q (first rotor replace 45K) the front Brakes hit the limit tab. If im going to have to replace the rotors again, I have removed the limit tab from the pad and using the whole pad until it starts to squeek metal on rotors again thats for sure. I will let every 1 know how i go with my after market shopping In Perth. I am leaning towards a similar rotor /blank to modify and suit the TRD(as toyota have done with the genuine rotors). Whilst drilling the stud PCD they may as well slot the face too. Slotted and drilled would look sweet on the TRD. On the group buy subject, buying 500 rotors from china the correct size(not modified) should be acheivable, and cheep. I will post my expensive and traumatic brakes replacement experience sometime very soon, maybe 1-2months. Hey TRD269, Group buy may be unecessary as a few aftermarket option may be available in the near futire with retro/byw working with RDA and now I have a secret project going myself. I was actually just to lazy to investigate aftermarket rotors and just opted to go the PBR ones again. Turns out the company that I was going to get them from have extremely close ties with DBA for the past 20 years to the point where they know the directors personally and have helped DBA export their rotors etc. I have dealt with them before for Hilux related stuff and they are the best! I have provided them with sizes, pbr part numbers for cross reference and as much information I could find... this weekend I am taking off one of the rear rotors to double check exact dimensions. So DBA 4000 series slotted rotors front and rear could be appearing on my car soon. Like you though... this could still be a couple months down the track but I will keep this forum updated. Dan
  14. Hey retro well i'm over trying to source some aftermarket rotors too... I'm just going to go with the genuine toyota ones again this time round. Best price I could find is front pads $82, front rotors $330 each ($660 pair), rear pads $88 and rear rotors $402 each ($804). Total $1634.00 inc GST. Not too bad and I'm happy with that. Going to drive up to Ingleburn and get em soon.
  15. Hey byw, You think your shocked... I just picked my TRD Aurion from its 36 Month service today also to be told that all 4 pads and rotors need to be replaced. Mine has only 28196km on the clock! I bought my car as a used car from a toyota dealership and it already had 14000km on the clock so I have only done 14000km in the past 2-3 years since I bought it. The car is only driven by my wife, we haven't even clocked up more than 60km in a single trip ever and the car rarely even goes over 100km/hr! My wife basically uses the car to go to the local shops and drop the kids of to childcare. So it makes me wonder what happened to the car during the first 14000km before I purchased it or there is something really wrong going on here. I am fully aware that high performance brakes/rotors wear faster but stuffed after 28000km? Just doesn't seem right. I know this is a kind of "how long is a peice of string" question.. but how many km's should you expect to get from these rotors? I would have said a minimum of 60000km if not driven hard. Are there any other TRD Aurion owners here that can give there input? Have you had to change your rotors to and if so how many km's? Dan.
