  1. Hi,

Recently purchased a used aurion with factory sat nav.... hadn't really used the sat nav until a week or so ago and noticed that there was no voice guidance. I just have to keep looking and follow the blue line! Just thought it was me not knowing how to use the system but after reading he manual over and over and trying everything I can think of I just can't get (hear) any voice guidance - really seems like a fault to me??. When I enter a destination the woman at the beginning says "Please proceed to the highlighted route etc" then thats all I hear until I reach the destination, then it just says "You have reached your destination etc".

According to the manual you can also hit the map button to repeat the last instruction but nothing... has anyone had this problem or heard of this before? is it just me not knowing how to use it? I haven't been back to the dealer as yet because I wasn't to fussed and I'm just waiting till the next service then I'll get a technician to look at it.

    Cheers,

    Dan.

  2. I also have a lot of rattles coming from the dash, actually they are all creaks rather than rattles... like hard plastic parts moving and slightly rubbing together... didn't notice them at all when I bought the car but that was when the weather was quite hot 26 degrees+ every day. Not long after i bought the car (still hot weather) i only noticed a few creaks driving on very uneven/rough roads. Now that it has got very cold here in canberra the creaks are much worse. On a recent trip to sydney i could isolate two of the worst creaks which are located on the very top left (worst) and right of the dash. They are right near the windscreen and the speaker grilles either side.... i could actually stop them by putting a little downward pressure. I am actually going to make up two small rubber blocks and wedge them in between the very frontside of the dash and the glass... they should stay in ok, not be very visible and hopefully help! I am fairly confident that when the weather gets hot again the creaks will mostly dissapear.

I am extremely hesitant to get anything done about them due to all the horror stories and even feedback from some mechanics about the extra problems pulling out the dash can create.... fix one problem create 10 more! Do any of these "dash rattle fixes" that Toyota does NOT involve pulling down the dash? ie can some of the rubber mounts etc be installed from under the dash etc with minimal pulling apart? These would be the only fixes I would be prepared to get done.

All in all the noises don't bother me too much... mostly drive with music anyway...

  3. mine was disconnected too and mines a sx6 demo

i came to the conclusion that the dealer may have done it while the car may have been on display somewhere or in the showroom as they have the bonnets and boots open and fairbit so it would ot drain the battery over a day.

    cheers

    stewy

    that makes sense!

  4. It's a 2nd hand TRD from Toyota. Not owned by anyone before me. Ex Toyota demo / Executives car.

I just went and had another look, pulled the light out and re connected it. Woo hoo, I have light in my boot now. I wonder why it was unplugged?

How strange.... I also bought an ex-demo TRD not long ago and it was the same! I didn't say anything to the dealer... just thought it was weird there was no light one night when opening the boot (of course you don't see these things when you buy the car during the day)... had a look underneath and noticed the plug like yours and re-connected it the same as you did!!

  5. Cool, thanks for the info. I have one of the last ones made (kinda) number 498.

There was a SL at the dealers when I was there with number 015 (I think), that was about $6k over my limit.

I have number 038.... so far so good! Out of the 537 Aurions I am curious to find out roughly how many were sold in each state...

  6. Hi all,

I'm considering going for a drive up to Sydney for work fairly soon, but just noticed I only have maybe 1 - 1.5mm tread before the wear mark on the back wheels.

I'm curious how quickly this amount of tread would actually wear generally? They are the stock Dunlop 300E tyres, and I typically don't really drive it *too* hard (usually! ;) ).

btw - I know this topic has been mentioned before, but I couldn't find much on the actual wear rate.

Where are you driving from? I'm no expert on tyres but if drove from Canberra to Sydney with that much tread left I doubt I would notice any difference when I returned. Melbourne to Sydney and back you may notice a little difference but I would hazzard to guess you would still have at least 1mm left. Assuming normal driving and a short stay in Sydney of course.

  7. Hi all,

Just wanting to say g'day and looking forward to speaking to people with a common interest! I've been a Toyota fan for as long as I can remember... I don't bag out other makes of cars and sick of people who go on about why this car is better than that and so on especially when they haven't even driven the car they are talking about... everyone has a reason for buying the cars they do. Its personal preference!

I currently have a 2007 Hilux SR and a 2007 TRD Aurion. Previously had a 93 4Runner and bought the Hilux over a year ago to replace it (miss the 4Runner but the Hilux is fantastic). Recently purchased the Aurion and absolutely couldn't be more happy with it. Here are some pics!

    Cheers,

    Dan.
