Just recently became a member so I hope anyone with explanations or answers still checks this topic. I have a 2009 RAV4 CV manual and it makes a 'whirring' or 'whining' sound at 70km/h in 4th and 5th gears. It may also do it in 3rd but I find the engine noise and sometimes road noise makes this harder to know for sure. The car has done 37,000 km but I've only noticed this sound recently. Sometimes it sounds like it's coming from the front right of the car but I don't trust my ears with all the other noises that go on while driving. I haven't tested the car while coasting (not in gear) but I'm keen to find out if the car will keep that speed long enough. Has anyone had a diagnosis from their car doing something similar?
