  1. hi fellas, is it just me or my shock absorbers (or something else) are starting to fail... :( the ride and the handling are not as good as before...roads feel bumpier and there's too much body roll (i think) tyres look ok tyre pressure is OK (front 36 psi rear 32 psi) any thoughts / comments would be appreciated :) S1LV3R
  2. hi everyone, just wanna know what you think about the future of petrol cars particularly since we all know that petrol prices are not getting lower and petrol engines are polluting the air that we're inhaling and now we hear everywhere how companies/governments are already developing alternative fuels and engines/technologies so that they will no longer be dependant on oil i mean, what will happen to our petrol cars (market value) when that day comes? and how much longer you think it is? 3. hi terry, how's your camry since the repair.... :) S1LV3R
  4. Hi fellas :) I just had mine serviced for 15K and it was $245 When I got there the guy explained that the base 15K service would cost around $210 and he also recommended the wheel alignment and the tyre rotation for $65 more. I thought about it for a few seconds and then I asked him whether they were absolutely necessary or not. He said they were optional and offered to do a "check" to determine whether the wheel alignment/tyre rotation is necessary or not. I thought why not check so then I said yes. When the service's done and he presented me the invoice, it says the wheel alignment "check" cost $30 I wished he had told me that the "check" would cost me $30 :( Oh well :P
  5. So that's one American in this forum...anyone else? Do you say "What's up, dude!?!" in Mississippi ? :D
  6. hi fellow camry sportivo owners :D i'm sure we all agree that the stock horn is not loud enough and its pitch is too high. does anyone know where to get the louder lower-pitch horn, how much it would cost and how to install it? mine's part number is ND-012.......i'm sure there's something else out there that's louder and got lower pitch. thanks for your help!
  7. sorry for what happened to your camry, terry i'm sure we're all glad that nobody was hurt although you must still be in shock and guess what.....we're next-suburb neighbours :D so the side airbag didn't deploy, i hope it's because there's some sort of weight sensor in the passenger seat and there's no one there at the time of the side impact, and not because it was malfunctioning in the first place? otherwise we should start firing away questions to Toyota about this.......i'm sure NRMA would like to do the same thing
  8. i see......so how much did it cost you to install the rear swaybar? and wouldn't it affect your warranty? about the horn, my reason for wanting to "modify" the horn is because the standard horn is a bit too high-pitched for me. adding another horn would make it louder twice as much and it would also lower the pitch, right? :) may i know what to ask for (the horn), how much it cost you and where to get it from? hmm.......now i'm really thinking about doing these two things :D thanks, mate
  9. i'm glad it's working well for you, Terry. did you do the installation yourself? you sound pretty mechanical i would never be able to figure out how to install something like this. i suppose you need some sort of training. like the time you installed, what was it, an extra horn? i would love to be able to do the same things on my camry................
  10. hi PERTHCAMRY so my 05 camry sportivo 4cyl and whitecamry's are about the same......about 13L / 100km if i'm understanding what you mean by "it might not be warn in yet" correctly, what you're saying is we're getting 13L / 100km because ours are still quite new. am i right? i'm not sure how many km whitecamry's 05 camry sportivo 4cyl got.......but mine's got about 10,000km now in your opinion, when do you think i should be getting the "normal" fuel economy? thanks
  11. hi SPORDEANO, i'm still trying to digest this...... you've got the V6, you're getting 8.5L / 100km i've got the 4cyl, i'm getting 13.5L / 100km am i the only one who thinks it should be the other way around? <_< and just how exactly you use cruise control 24/7? thanks mate
  12. hi M_LUKE if you don't mind me asking, with 40/35psi front/rear, what sort of fuel economy are you getting? cheers
  13. so it's a door clip loose.........thanks for the info i might ask you about tyre pressure as well, should it be the same for all 4 wheels cause the label suggests different tyre pressures for front and rear tyres. what's your tyre pressure? mine is 36psi front and 32psi rear.
  14. hi everyone i thought i should make some comments on the build quality of my 05 camry sportivo 4 cyl. i bought it brand new, so everything should be perfect, right? WRONG! it drove fine for about 500km and then things listed below started happening. 1. squeaking noises coming from the front right side of the car (driver's side) 2. thumping noises coming from the left rear side of the car 3. moisture inside the right headlight 4. rattles coming from the front left door 5. squeaking noises from the steering wheel (turning) 6. fuel tank door misalignment the squeaking noises were annoying not to mention embarassing (imagine this happening to you with 4 people inside the car). the problem was fixed by replacing the front right suspension. the thumping noises were quite serious and embarassing too. it was as if the rear left suspension was not working at all. the problem was fixed by replacing the rear left suspension. it was the first time i'd seen moisture inside any headlight. the problem was fixed by replacing the right headlight. even now the rattles still exist. any road irregularities would create these rattles that come from the left front door. whenever i turned the steering wheel, it would go squeaky. the problem was fixed by replacing the steering rack. the 2nd time i filled up the fuel tank i noticed that the fuel tank door didn't really shut. it's still like this. so in about 3 weeks after i drove it out of the dealership i've had the following replaced: 1. front right suspension 2. rear left suspension 3. right headlight 4. steering rack my fuel economy is also off by 3.7 liters per 100km (specs says 9.8 liters per 100km but i'm getting 13.5 liters per 100km). i don't even drive aggresively. in summary: DISAPPOINTING build quality any comments you might have would be appreciated. now all i want is for my NEW car to run with no rattles and with better fuel economy (even 11 liters per 100km would be heaven!)
  15. hi cosmo that means my camry sportivo is using 13.5 liters of petrol per 100 kilometres of distance traveled, or in other words i'm only getting about 7.5 kilometres per liter. the specs (attached) says i'm suppose to using only 9.8 liters per 100 kilometres!!!!! so my camry sportivo is using 3.7 liters more petrol per 100 kilometres!!!!!!!! yikes!! help!!! :)
  16. hi perthcamry i've got a 2.4 (2005) as well and right now i'm only getting 13.5 / 100 i know for sure that it's way off (i don't drive aggresively), know what i mean? but at the same time, i'm not sure what to do about it........any suggestions? and when you say "tyres at 38psi", does that mean front and rear? i'm 100% sure the recommended pressure is 36psi front and 32psi rear (label says so) i would REALLY LOVE to get 10 / 100 even 11 :D thanks
