  1. Hi

Got my unit installed today - it works perfectly - need to get used to the new GPS software as was used to TomTom. The reverse camera has been installed in exactly the same way Andrew has described. Ipod connectivity is slow - however no issues as it has so many other options (USB). Looks like it was always there. Matt was really helpful and quick in his replies. I highly recommend these units. I was little unhappy with drilling a hole in the car but I guess it was required.

GPS is quite quick in catching the signal. Dvd works perfectly - bluetooth is good.

    Well done!

    All the best

  2. Hi, I bought one of these from Digioptions as well for my wife's SX6. Matt is very helpful and I found the quality of the unit as others have above. One thing though, I installed the reversing camera in the plastic bootlid trim. I worked out the angle that I wanted the camera on, then used a holesaw at that angle, so that the camera sticks out slightly above the number plate. I bent the bracket then siliconed the bracket to the inside surface of the trim, and ran a sealing bead around the circumference of the camera. Not sure if it's the neatest way to do it, but I'm pretty happy with it and it only required a small hole in the boot itself, to fit the RCA size camera plug. Here's a pic,

    Hi Andrew!

    That looks realy neat!

If I ever have to replace the camera I may have a closer look the way you did that.

Yes, I did find Matt quit helpful.

  3. this is exactly the review i needed... i was THIS close to buying the Dig Options unit before i saw the Auspack, but i held off on my decision until a review of the Dig Options unit came up. now that there's a few more guys who has it installed, i'm waiting for their detailed feedback on the usability / quality before making my decision.

    thanks to the OP!

I am glad you found it helpful!

    All the best

  4. Hi

I received my unit today (along with the reverse camera) was wondering what is the best place to fix the camera (or if there is only a certain place which is for the camera - pls advice?) also Alfred (as you have the same unit) did you have to drill 2 holes to install the camera?

First look - the unit looks good (slight difference in colour (a little darker than the factory HU) however I dont think it will look that different when installed.

djc - My bad, I saw ur reply very late - well it is exactly the same unit like Alfred's however the ebay add changes the name of the unit to TPO9X1 from TCO9X1 in the middle - I guess "TP" stands for Toyota Prado and "TC" for Toyota Camry / Aurion - hence Matt told that TPO9X1 wont fit.

Did any one else place an order? I am going to get it installed on Sunday. Do I have to tell them something to make it more easy for them - as I will pass on the information that Alfred posted for the reverse camera wiring (just so that no trial and error needed)

    Hi bij89q!

I take it you ordered the numberplate reversing camera as well?

I only had to drill a whole behind the plate itself to feed the cable through. (I used a grommet and some silikon to waterproof it again)

It installs onto the two screws that hold the number plate. That worked OK but I wanted a "steeper" view towards the ground, so I ended up making 2 aluminiums brackets that went behind the plate (in the same wholes) and I screwed the camera onto the brackets. That worked great for me and if you don't know you can barely notice the brackets....

I havent noticed any colordifference in the HU compared to the silver (but that may have to do with different shadows and angles of light once installed!)

If you have the same camera the wiring guide will work but as you have it done by proffesionals they may have a better way of doing it, if so, please let me know as well!

Just as a side note, to get the I-Pod working consistently I found it helpfull to disconect and reconnect it when I restart (reboot the unit). Do this ONLY if you have difficulty with your i-pod controls (sometimes it doesn not need the reconnect but if it plays up this will reset the Ipod sensor??)

    All the best

  5. Hey, I just placed an order - now its wait and watch - how many days do u rekon it will take - also I called at some places for installation - one of my mate recommened Platinum car radio and interiors (Rydalmere) - he got some work done by them - said was pretty happy and just looks like factory fitted. I enquired about the price the guy quoted around $120-$150 for the Unit and $120 for the reverse camera.

    I just hope it works.

    Will update with new information.

    Hi!

Mine took about 3 working days!

    Sounds like a reasonable amount!

For my Plate camera I found this works (may be this brand only that was a bit tricky)

In case it helps you though, here it is...

    It is all working!

In case you need to know for future reverence it goes like this.

Yellow RCA cable from the camera goes to RED CCDAVIN on Head unit

The The Adapter with the 2 blank wires goes into the RED Camera Plug.

the black wire with the white lines goes to the revering light 12 v cable.

The black cable can be ignored (i simply chopped it off)

It took me a while but this works.....by the way there seems to be NO Internet Guides (that I found) for installing a camera with thsi wiring.

There may be a better way but until we find it, this works!

    Yes, please keep us posted!

  6. Hi

I sent an email to Matt at DIG OPTIONS and asked if this unit was suitable for my Aurion ATX 08 - he said this one is not but he has one which is and around the same price as yours. I hope it fits and the GPS software and other functionalities are good enough - at the moment I have TomTom GPS which is quite good.

Let me know how is your GPS software and other functionalities.

    Hi!

Yes, strange but hey...if he has one he can gurantee even better. Software is IGO8. It works great and if you look around on the net you will find lots of ways how you can make it even better with upgrades and skins available (even though the default one is very good anyway)

All functions as advertised, it looks and sounds quit good.

I am very happy and feel very much I have gotten value for money!

All the best adn keep us posted!

    Alfred

  7. I just wanted to confirm if the unit comes with everything - because I called some places and they were asking if I have the facia along with it. I guess from the picture you have posted it comes with a look alike Aurion facia kit and I would not have to buy anything else - just take the unit to the store and they can get it fixed.

With the unit that Alfred has posted, the fascia is PART of the head unit. There is no need to buy a fascia kit as you would with a standard double DIN unit.

    Hi Darryl!

Thanks for jumping in and helping out (as always)!

Yes, that is right, the ONLY thing I added to my purchase was the Reversing sensor ( I used the 4 sensor set up) as well as the reversing camera. I did not purchase the HD TV set up (maybe later but at this point it is not important to me)

As DJKOR said, the fascia is part of the unit!

    Regards and all the best

    Alfred

  8. Thanks!

I checked Lifestyle store's website they have some pictures as well (their previous work) - well if they install the entire unit (including TV,Camera etc) and charge around $200-$250 I will give it a shot. I was thinking of ordering the whole set once and for all - $120 extra for TV antena and night vision camera $50/. what do you think?

    Thanks! DJC and Alfred

I think you are still saving a lot of money that way!

If you go for the DIG Option unit, ask for Matt or Donna and they willg et you on the way!

Let us know how you go and all the best

    Alfred

  9. That looks great! I wanted one for my Aurion ATX - wondering if any modifications to the original setting voids the warranty - as I have bought my New Aurion 6 months ago. And do you know who could install it for me. I have seen few posts on DIY but rather get someone fit it professionally rather than I trying or testing on it.

    Thanks

I am actually in Cairns FNQ, a long way from where you are, else I would have been happy to assist you!

If you do not need a camera at this point you really have no need to get someone to do it for you as it is really just a matter of taking this unit out and putting the other one in, done!

Just follow DJKOR's excellent guide and your are on a winner!

I also installed reversing sensors which work great in combination with the reversing camera and are also very easy to install and you would not have to run cables to the HU (even though you obviously would not have the camera). I found the sensors on their own are doing a great job by themselsves of giving you awareness when reverse parking.

I hope you have fun putting it in or hope you will find someone reasonable to do it for you (a professional would have it fitted in a few minutes without camera.

    Regards

    Alfred

P.S: What a great bunch of people in that forum.

  10. looks good matee, did you install yourself and if so how long did it take you,i have been looking at these units myself so will be interesting to see how they go in time.

also is it all pre-wired to the original loom in the aurion or did you have to cut any wires

    thanks and cheers corey

I dont own one of these so dont take my word for it, but usually these types of "OEM" headunits are juts plug and play, meaning you connect it to your original loom and you will keep your steering wheel controls, unlike most aftermarket head units

    Hi djc!

Yes, you are quit correct! I am not too advanced in electronics (I am a Chef by trade) and I had no difficulties after some "trials and errors" OK I blew a fuse...).

Concerning your previous post concerning warranty, they do offer a 12 month warranty on that unit. Which makes me feel pretty confident that it should be a solid unit!

    All the best

    Hi Corey!

The unit itself is very "easy" to install thanks to DJKOR (Daryl's) great tutorials and picture guides!

The hardest part was the installation of the reversing camera as that involves running wires all the way back to the boot.

The unit took me about 45 minutes to install the camera and wires about 2 Hours!

The wiring is pretty much "Plug and Play"otherwise.

    All the best

    Alfred!

  12. Hi Guys!

I just thought I let you know about this HU I found on e-bay!

    It is from DIG Options!

It cost me A$ 625.00 including Number Plate Camera

    (TV Aerial Not included)

It works great (It seems not to suffer from the pauses that DJKOR noticed on his.

    It runs IGO8

    DVD loks nice

    Support was great

Interface looks nice (Except I-Pod which is functional but not great- update is coming though)

I am not associated with these guys at all.

If you are looking for a well priced unit with good service, I can HIGHLY recommend them!

    Here are some pictures!

I hope this MINI report is of assistance to someone!

    Kind Regards and God bless

  13. Sorry for the delay. Was just about to take photos then I got a call and had to dash out of the house for a second. Anyways, when you look at your fuse panel/distribution block, you will see this:

That empty socket on the far left is where you would usually find your fog light relay. Models without fog lights will have no relay. Mine is missing for photo purposes:

    dsc04343p.jpg

Insert spade terminal as shown and you get +12v even when the car is off:

    dsc04346.jpg

This is a crimped spade connector (yellow is for the heavier gauge wire):

    dsc04349l.jpg

Narva are the main ones I use cause I like them, and you find these at Repco and other automotive places. Otherwise Jaycar have some, but I hate the quality of them.

And there you go. No cutting of the factory harness, easily removed, and fuse protected (fog light fuse).

    Wow!

Darryl you are amazing! Of course I know what a spade terminal is, just did not know the name..(I am Austrian)! I will go ahead and install this now!!!!

    Thanks again.................

    Alfred

  14. DJKOR!!!!!

    You are amazing!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I was not even gone for 20 minutes and you are here to help out already!!!!

No, I do not have fog lights....so I will go ahead and do what you recomended!

Would I get a "spade terminal" (no idea what that looks like) in autopro, auto one, Jaycar?

    Regards and THANKS AGAIN!!!!

    Alfred

I had the exact same plans for when I was going to do mine. Never got around to it since I figured just leaving the remote in the side pocket worked alright in the first place.

I'm not too sure about getting fuse taps here in Australia. To tell you the truth though, I've never tried looking. The only time I heard of them was mentioned on the American Toyota Nation forums.

Do you have fog lights? If not, there is an easier place to tap into on your fuse panel there. You just get a spade terminal and crimp some wire onto this. This will be your positive line. Now you go to the fuse panel and there will be two standard sized horn relays and two micro relays (blue in colour). To the left of these, there will be a blank socket. The second connector up from the bottom has a constant positive. Just plug the spade terminal into here.

    I'll fetch a diagram.

  15. Hi Guys!

I found out a way to connect my remote to my Aurion AT-X. I would like to utilise an empty switch bay to the right of the steering wheel.

I tried it out today and it works great. Now to make it permanent I would like to hook it into the inside fusebox behind the glovebox, as there is an empty bay available.

To do that I was thinking of using a fuse tap. (unless you guys have a better idea!) - Since DJKOR (Darryl) was kind enough to point me in the right direction I purchased a momentary switch from jaycar and will install insice the blank switch cover. there is plenty of room to fix the remote with a double sided tape and hook it up with a 12 v wire. (plenty of screws around to connect the negative.

Hope that makes sense and Thanks again!

    Alfred

  16. I believe this feature is only available to the US market Gen 6 Camry. If you wanted the module, you would need to purchase it from the States. It will be the complete assembly including sunglasses holder because the way the connections are made in there.

Alternatively, you can buy what is called a HomeLink mirror which not only has the auto-dimming functionality, but it also has a garage door remote clone on it.

Edit: Should you wish to contact someone in the States to purchase this part, this is the part number:

    63650-06040-B0 ACV40, GSV40..NAP..SE; GARAGE OPENER-WITH, GRAY, TRIM14, 15

This part consists of the entire assembly just like what you already have, the only addition is the garage door remote buttons. This will set you back approximately USD$636.48

If you plan on hacking up your stock one that you already have, the price to get a replacement one from Toyota here is about $206.17. This is what prevented me from doing a similar thing (mounting my garage remote PCB up in there and putting a switch on the panel).

    DJKOR/Darryl!

You are just amazing! What a wealth of information......even though not the one I was hoping for!

    Thank you so much though!

Looks like I have to search some e-bay sites as well! You never know!

Men I just realised, I have caught the "BUG" !

    Thanks again and kind regards

    Alfred

  17. Hi Guys!

Has anybody tried to install the remote garage door opener switch into the panel overhead between the top light and the sun glass holder?

Is it possible? If so, where would you get these switches?

If anybody is in the know, any help would be apreciated!

    Kind Regards

    Alfred

  18. Welcome Alfred from a fellow FNQer (Just out from Innisfail)

    Hi Neighbor mbruce!

Make sure you drop in for a cuppa when next in Cairns!

    just skype me.

rapture777 is my skype name. Else an e-mail and I send down my details.

Hope to receive my new Head unit tomorrow!!!

    Regards

    Alfred

  19. Welcome buddy, I love your part of the world. I was married up in Port Douglas, you guys have the best weather.

I was even considering moving up ther at one stage

    Hi elgrande!

Yes, it is the most beautiful place and I love it here. I have a house in the hills of Earlville overlooking the city. (If you know Cairns a bit you may know the shopping center with the Black Marlin statue).

I just received an e-mail from Matt from digoptions that my unit will be arriving tue/wed next week! Looks like wednesday (hopefully) will be install day for me!

I am all excited now. On thursday I will probably take it for a run to check out the nav system. It runs IGO8. Will be intersting to see how well the Far North of Queensland is covered.

Keep in touch and if you do move up here make sure you let me know so we can catch up!!!

    Alfred

  20. I don't imagine any issues as both systems are independent of each other. Only issues you would get is if you somehow connected them together incorrectly, but that would have to be a pretty bad fault.

    Thanks DJKOR/Darryl!

Bad faults seem to be my speciality! Thanks to your excellent guide I am certain I can minimise the risk!

I will keep the meetings in mind when coming to Brisbane next. I will let you knoiw here if that is OK?

Thanks for your advise and all the best

    Alfred

  21. Not saying anything bad about the reverse sensors, but it would be interesting to see what your opinions would be of using both together.

After using the reverse camera, I have found reverse sensors to be absolutely no match. The camera is also useful when reversing into a spot when there is no car or wall behind you.

But each to their own though.

I love parallel parking and getting extremely close to the car behind and watching people nearby look at me thinking I'm going to hit the car. Even funnier cause I always look forward when reverse parking now.

    Hi Daryl!

I am interested myself. So you think that there should not be a conflict in the electronics when using both?

I used to drive an Ford LTD 78 model. This one seems small to me now. That is the problem though . Last time when parking it felt like I was jsut about to hit the car behind me...after I got out I had a good 40 cm left to go (about the difference in size of these two cars.

If i would have planned a bit better I probably would have not worried about the sensors but since I ordered and received them already I just could not helpmyself and put them in anyway.

I am traveling to Brisbane several times a year. Hopefully I will be able to coincide with one of your get togethers? When are you guys meeting?

    All the best Alfred

  22. Great choice Alfred, the interface looks nice and the price is pretty attractive. One question though, since you got yourself the double din headunit, any reason why you chose the reversing sensor over a reverse camera? :)

    Thanks Ingress!

I actually ordered the sensors prior to purchasing the HU. It was the great price and the looks that led my to this snap decisions as well as the excellent insight provided by this forum that build my confidence enough to go ahead and purchase this as well.

Once installed, it will not be sensors over reverse camera but it will end up with both of them co-existing (if all goes well).

As the sensors are accurate to about 20 cm the camera may be just an added bonus to judge the last few centimeters in tight spots.

I was looking at the wiring discusion provided by DJKOR (thanks once again) and came to the conclusion that they wil happily co-exist.

As I ordered the HU only yesterday I expect it to arrive sometime next week. I will keep you posted!

So, you like this interface better as well than?

I think the big test concerning this purchase will come once I find out if it suffers from the same lag issues DJKOR mentioned in his review.

The seller (Matt & Donna) seem to believe that not to be an issue......we will see. So far I like their interaction with me. Lets hope that will continue on after the purchase. Service especially for a noob like me is very important. I will review on that aspect as well for potential buyers who may want to know though.

    Kind Regards

    Alfred

  23. Hi Gratz!

Thank you. I have not received it yet but onced I do I will give a bit of an overview if you like. Since I am very new to this, the only thing I can compare it to is DJKOR's much apreciated review on the auspak unit.

So far I have to say I like the price and th einterface much better.

If you want to have a look it is on e-bay

    Just look for dig_options

    Item number: 250460549326

Hope this may be of interest to others looking for HU replacements!

    Regards

    Alfred!

P.S: Reversing sensors are in thanks to "1972rainman" & DJKOR's excellnt guide! Thanks again !
