  1. A mate had this same issue, but we caught it just enough time. The friction from the CAI moving against the engine bay below the battery wears it down at that bend. WOT to partial, to WOT etc etc causes it to wear . I araldited some rubber insulation to the corner of the frame to stop it. I'd recommend doing this when you replace it. Weird that TRD didn't see that coming. Maybe it's just TD now, and they don't do Research anymore.

  2. If you do the sums on it you get he following;

    Stock 16x6

    6" (152.4mm) wide +45 offset

    width of rim inboard of the hub: 152.4/2 + 45 = 121.2mm

    width of rim outboard of the hub: 152.4/2 - 45 = 31.2mm

    16x8

    8" (203.2mm) wide 0 offset

width of rim inboard of the hub: 203.2/2 = 101.6mm

width of rim outboard of the hub: 203.2/2 = 101.6mm

So it will stick further out by 70mm, or almost 3". If you go with a +30 offset it would improve things by a lot, but it'll still stick out a fair bit. Go with a 7" wide rim with +35 offset.

You should get 16x8.5 and be all hellaflush and **** Dave. That'll improve your lap times fo' sho.

  5. Hey There,

    Just thought id share this...

I am loving my '08 TRD...

had the pleasure of smashing a 5.7ltr HSV 250+KW LS1, not once but twice before dawn yesterday morning...

First run was of the lights and down a straight, I had him pinned for 300mtrs n he was at least 2 car lengths behind me, dint even use sports shift, could hear his cams scream as my blower kept whinning and pulling away from him... he backed off at 130km/hr... B)

Praying for a red light, we got one, both turning right into a big sweeping bend on to the freeway! Yes! better still, im in the inside lane...

    Green light Go!

I dart ahead, he slips behind me, road straightens up, we both press metal on metal, he darts into the left lane (thinking that he needed it.. lol!) but to his suprise my Supercharger whines away and I pull way in front, by the time I hit 4th gear, I was doing 160kph and about 4 car legnths in front with my TRD just loving the petrol and powering ahead... LS1 backed off... Adrenaline pumping... so proud of my TRD, oh yeh @ full boost when changing gear @ 155km/hr, wheels spin going from 3rd to 4th... f*cking phenominal...

I knew TRD's were good, but this just blew me away...

PS: if you are from a law enforcing agency, this story is fictional... if your a toyota owner or better yet a TRD owner, you know what really happened ;)

    lovin it... TRD588

You're a **** idiot. Two reasons immediately come to mind:

    1) You're speeding. You're a *****. Don't **** speed. I'm sick of idiots like you that tar other car enthusiasts with a brush. Get a helmet, a cams license and go to the Drag Strip or Eastern Creek for ******s sake.

    2) You beat a stock LS1. That's amazing. I had no idea they could be beaten. Are you seriously proud of that? They come on strong with simple modifications, however it was in no way the greatest motor delivered by a factory. It wilters in comparison to their current HSV line up.

  6. Issues with that Gemini:

    * Non standard ride height that does not comply with the specified eyebrow height required - illegal

    * Non standard wheels that most certainly go over the 2 inch diameter, 1 inch wide allowable limit over that of the OEM wheels - illegal

    * There is a **** massive hole the bonnet. I doubt any engineer could successfully have that pass within legal guidelines, and it doesn't even seem to have any form of perspex (which would need extensive sealing anyway) - illegal

    And finally

    * "I heard you liked getting your head sawn off if you roll the car, so we decided to cut your **** pillars out." - No pillars - highly illegal and highly stupid.

That car is a death trap, and makes me want to set my eyes on fire. Furthermore, this is Australia. We will always be the home of Commodores with cut / dropped springs and standard shocks that root themselves after 1000km's. Mute point.

    answers with....getting jiggy with it

    You are such a Wharrgarbl.

  7. Its all these young blokes in Geminis with Makita coilovers sittin on one coil that give us a bad name.

...................... maybe if you pulled that line 15 years ago it might of been taken as truth..... when was the last time you seen a gemini on the street? theres hardly any left around, the only ones left are ones owned by old men that have owned them since new or by proud owners that painstakingly restored these beautiful cars, the gemini owners of today are some of the most down to earth car modifiers that respect each others rides, ive been the proud owner of 2 examples one of them im in the process of building

here is the best example of recient times truelly sex on wheels

if you want to point fingers id be pointing them at the cheap japanese imports flooding the market, the jap import brigade, driving around on ride hight that would make a touring car blush.......

  8. Only on tocau do people post pictures of cars they actually like, in the 'ugly cars' thread.

The 427 LS3 motors, mated with clutch/flywheel, are currently being sold through Walkinshaw for $6950AU a pop. If you don't have the chassis, then may as well grab the power for that price, which is cheap for what it is. The bf did that with his GTS.

  9. Your mother's so fat, that when she was a glint in the milkmans eye he had issues breathing when walking up stairs.

Oh wait fat 'wheels'. I see. One inch wider over your stock rim. No more. Unless WA's legislation regarding the issue is different, which it can be, given that it was the last state accepted into the constitution.

  10. I didn't need to add Lift to my current car. It already had 13b Turbo goodness and perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

You CAN'T add lift anyway because you don't have cams :P

    [sacrasm]Oh I thought I did, noes. See I'm a typical blonde ho who know's f/a about cars.[/sarcasm]

[sarcasm]Gee, if only I'd put a pokey-tongue emoticon at the end of my post to show that I was being facetious/silly[/sarcasm]

So you were being serious. That hurts :(

Leroy services and takes care of my car anyway to be honest, so he sees more of it than me. He's my man after all.

Rob you troll, i swear you will never die.

I'm not Rob. I'm also female. Last time I checked I had a vagina.
