mmmmmm countt me in :D
now just gotta find are driver
-
honesly i was expect more from this engine, sure sounds good,
like my previous car was an integra type r, this thing felt fast, ive never driven are 2zz car before, i made this swap for reliability purposes, and bit more power, but it is fun to drive, and rev the crap out of it, but i got are feeling its not running to its full potential, also the 5 speed doesnt help, next on my list would be lighter flywheel and clutch and the 6 speed while im at it and then later power fc,
so if it does rain next week, anyone wanna go to the creek?
-
after searching spyderchat this is are comparison between the 6 and 5 speed ratios
Manual -- Standard 6 speed 5 speed
Manual Gear Ratios 1st 3.166 3.166
2nd 1.904 2.050
3rd 1.392 1.481
4th 1.031 1.166
5th 0.815 0.916
6th N/A 0.725
also foundUsing chrisngrod's numbers, if you were to shift at 8400 RPM, then the RPMs on the next gear would be as follows:
5 speed:
1st to 2nd: 5,052
2nd to 3rd: 6,141
3rd to 4th: 6,222
4th to 5th: 6,640
6 speed:
1st to 2nd: 5,439
2nd to 3rd: 6,068
3rd to 4th: 6,613
4th to 5th: 6,599
5th to 6th: 6,648
So, as you can see, with both gearboxes you'd miss the hot cam when you shift to 2nd gear. The theoretical top speed is 157 MPH for the 5-speed and 168 MPH for the 6-speed. If you wanna cruise at 70 MPH, you'll be at 3,735 RPM on the 5-speed and at 3,490 RPM on the 6-speed. If you are running a 1/4 mile race, you might only have to shift 3 times with the 5-speed (124 MPH max in 4th gear), and 4 times with the 6-speed (105 MPH in 4th gear). this
Reverse 3.250 3.250
Manual Differential Ratio 4.312 4.529
so with these figures what can you make out of them?

so if i can keep it on lift all the way i should, run good times, damn 5 speed, but its only 1 to 2nd where it falls out,+ car weighs in at 1050 with driver and 980 without, ill probly run mid 15s on the first go, but will improve, the more times i go.
minto
yeah turbo is way more fun :D
-
lsd is interchangable, but cant be bothered stripping are perfect gearbox, + funds arent helping much(damn bills) if i go to the creek next week, im expecting low 14, if not then something is wrong, will wait and see
my lift kicks in at 6000 and ends around 8400, what rpm does the sportivo be in, when u change to 2nd gear?
chears
-
ah the 6 speed works, but it has no lsd, which my 5 speed has, so my options are tight
cheers
-
its not a stivo :D
-
is it me or is the 2zz just slow
maybe its me jumping from turbo to na
well maybe its the 5 speed, 1 to 2 revs drop to 5500, but the rest im well into lift,
so what do use think it is?
i was supposed to go tonight to the creek, but it rained, also ill be putting it on the dyno, any recommendations?
what power should i expect?
damn i want more power
cheers

wat corolla is this
quote from nissan forum pg 13
its what you get comparing money for money.
i went to a toy mods festival thing awhile back had a guy in a sportivo silver one , pumping 142kw at the wheels :S saw his dyno sheet run the line just went straight up.
-
looking at his avatar, its are 00 celica.
rattling could be yor thrust bearing
try redline gearbox oil
-
its not that hard to replace,
if remeber correctly
there's are cover on the inside of the car, its opposite side of the mirror
pop this cover off, and 3 10mm nuts should appear
unbolt them off and the mirror should slip out with abit of a nudge
now the trick bit is the wiring, im pretty sure it runs inside the door,
if thats the case the door trim has to come off, if the they made the connecting plug towards the top then its just unplug it and plug in the new one. pm with pics and ill comfirm it, plus i dont have are corolla, but im going off the top of my head as other toyotas are similiar
cheers

my mates looking at buying a 05 stivo
what are they worth?
how is the resale value
if it been in a accident is it worth buying,
cheers
-
got me thinking, building are 2zz for my 2, maybe 600hp mmmm
still damn impressive for are1zz
-
toyota dont no sh...t
-
my conversion is finished, im using the celica ecu, car runs fine, goes hard and bloody loud
all electrics work,
things to do are
1. get the 6 speed
2. get power fc
only thing stopping me is the funds
but the main question is, is there alot of wiring done for the pfc to work?
cheers
-
actually there different, redlines at 8400 and lift at 6000, 01 models
-
since u got the power fc working, have ever considered trying the celica ecu and dynoed it back to back, and drivability differences?
-
according to the US guys power fc wont work with the 2 wire knock sensor, so they just change it over to are single wire and use are knock sensor from the 99-01 celica
-
did u changed the knock sensor to are single wire?
-
man, you sound like the americans
all they want is full spelling of a word and comas and paragraphs
and i can't be bothered writing full words.
no im not chinese. why do you say that?
-
Ask northy,
but from what i hear, the celica has a secondary ecu but the corolla;s 2zz doesn't.
wat do u mean by that?
-
why doesnt the power fc work with the corolla,
wats different,
when i went to buy the 2zz engine, i pluged in my celica ecu, and started up fine
wat could be different?
cheers
