  1. Thanks to my 3 year old son's decision to have some fun this morning by hiding the one set of car keys we have in the boot of the Aurion I can now vouch for the security system's effectiveness. It took two locksmiths half an hour and the alarm went off 5 times before they were able to gain entry which I think is a pretty good effort from the old Aurion.

  2. Thanks to all who've posted above on this topic

Apologies if this is covered in another thread but I have a couple of questions

Firstly how do I get the unit to recognise the 480 x 234 resolution, mine (an Autome unit) seems to be picking up the 400 x 240 resolution which means that the BOK created graphic is skewed, is there a setting I'm missing? I've added the file to both resolution folders on the SD card.

Secondly is there a setting for the initial start up graphic - I get the Toyota emblem and I'd like to change that as well but it seems like its an embedded file as it comes up even without the SD card inserted.

    Thanks in advance

    M.

  3. Picked up my parts from Ingres today - thanks to VF-X and Ingres for all your help with organising the GB and delivery, great work guys.

BTW Ingres - loved having a look at your car, very impressive ride and its motivated me to get to one of the Brisbane meets one day once I get a few more mods on.

    Cheers

    M.

  4. You picked a fine time to leave me , loose wheel .......

That's hilarious - I had flashbacks of my childhood stuck in the back of a Range Rover going around Australia with a Kenny Rogers tape and a John Denver tape being the only ICE available back in those days. Kids these days with their DVD players and Nintendos dont know the hell we had to go through - John Denver's music still makes me cringe, the words 'Some days are diamonds some days are stone' make me want to crawl up into the foetal position....

BTW Is it just me or does the front tyre look pretty low on tread for a car made in Dec 2009 - then again if you consider 110kph a slow speed then I suppose you wouldn't be getting a lot of life out of your tyres.

  5. Now I'm going to preface this by saying that I usually always stick to the speed limit but I was running late for the train early this morning (managed to turn off my alarm whilst still asleep :-) so I needed to give the Aurion a bit of a punt to get there on time. There was a bloke in a new Audi who took off from the lights in a hurry, the look on his face as I went out around him was priceless. He was certainly surprised by the Aurion's ability.

  6. Hey there

I'll be able to report on the Autome unit when it arrives in a week or so.

But as a matter of pure price comparison - I got my HU in an Ebay auction from Autome for $490 delivered to Queensland (no digital television as I dont want to watch television in the car and no rear camera) - so that's $1200 cheaper than the other local option. That's enough for a nice set of 19in wheels :)

  7. Hey Daryl

Sorry to hear about your accident, I've had a similar experience out in the bush - once you hit the gravel with two wheels its all over - we ended up in a head-on with a Commodore, thankfully like your accident everyone got out ok (we were in an 80's Range Rover at the time with a steel bull bar so came out relatively unscathed, folks in the Commodore were significantly worse off but survived).

All the best, on the upside you now have the chance to use all your experience gained preparing your old car on a whole new project.

  8. i kno this might be a stupid question but could any1 tell me how to turn the ESP off, i have a 2007 Aurion sportivo zr6 wich i recently bought and i couldent find the ESP button,

i have checked if its next to the parking sensors switch, and its not there any help that will be great

You might have checked your car's dash, but did you check the forum properly? Have a read of the FAQ provided by DJKOR here, it is also pinned right at the top of the Aurion Section.

    Q) How do I turn traction control off?

    A) The only way to turn traction control off on the Aurion is to follow this sequence (in under about 30 seconds):

    1. Make sure the car is in Park and the parking brake is disengaged before you start the car.

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Engage the parking brake.

    4. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

    5. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

    6. Disengage the parking brake.

    7. Fully depress and hold down the brake pedal.

    8. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).

    9. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).

    10. Release the brake pedal.

    11. Engage the parking brake.

    12. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

    13. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

When you have completed these steps, the traction control warning light should illuminate (the car picture with wavy lines behind). To turn traction control back on, you need to turn your car off then back on again. That is the ONLY way to do all that.

That sequence makes me laugh every time I read it - I think we should call it the Aurion ESP Tap-Dance.... :)

  9. They're v nice DJ - I think I'll go 19"s now, I'd hate to spend the cash and then find that I need to upgrade to get the right look.

Tempe quoted me $2k with Kumho KU31's on the Lenso 19"s which seems like a fair deal, but I'm still not sure about having all of that exposed disc and caliper, I'd need to see it on the car before I committed to $2k worth of expenditure.

  10. Hi guys

Thought I'd check and see what you guys think of these Enix wheels - I'm tossing up between the 20"s

    http://www.bobjane.com.au/virtual-wheels/refID/2650.html

    and the 18"s

    http://www.bobjane.com.au/virtual-wheels/refID/2798.html

just to avoid all of the scrubbing issues and to give a bit more of a compliant ride with the higher sidewall. What do you reckon?

I think I prefer the steel blue colour but 20"s are probably a bridge too far size wise and I spoke to the guy LWT and he reckons they might have an 18" in the steel blue machine face at the end of Feb so I might wait to see if that eventuates.

    edit: edited the links

  11. Hi there.

I'm looking to put some 20"s on my new acquisition and whilst I've read all the posts on scrubbing when going to 20"s I thought I would try to summarise the issues and get those in the know to check if I've got it right, I'm also aware of the wheel offset calculator but I just wanted to put it in words. Please bear in mind I am a deadset novice in the wheel and suspension department

So far as I can tell

    1. Offset of > 45 with 20"s (8.5" wide or greater) will give you scrubbing on the inside of the wheel regardless of lowering

    2. Offset of < 35 with 20"s (8.5" wide or greater) will potentially give you scrubbing on the outside guard when lowered

    3. Lowering with springs (Kings or Pedders) with 20"s and a profile of >30 (i.e. 35 and above) will potentially give you scrubbing on the top of the inside guard even with offset of >30<45

    4. Coilovers alleviate the guard scrubbing issue due to their ability to set the ride height and suspension hardness settings but if going for a profile of >30 you may need to set the ride height higher than you would get from lower springs to avoid scrubbing

So ideally if you're looking to go to 20"s you should ensure that you go for an offset of >30<45 and if you want to avoid the top of the inside guard scrubbing issue you should use 30 profile tyres if lowering with springs or go with coilovers if you want to use a profile >30

    Did I get that right?

  12. How's the driving experience for those out there using just the front strut bar without the rear sway bar - I'm thinking I would like a bit of sharper turn-in but I dont want the wife driving it and getting into any accidental oversteer situations :o

  13. Welcome mate. Make sure to check out the FAQ's as well to start getting ideas on what can be done to your Aurion.

    Where are you located?

Thanks for the welcome - I'm on the Gold Coast. I've had a good read of the FAQ's but I've got a feeling that wont stop me asking some stupid questions. :D After trawling the site for a week or so my heads spinning with ideas about 20inch wheels, Pedders or Kings springs or both and Ultra Racing strut bars....
