Parked at the shops the other day and did a double take as i walked past a black ATX with a fake bonnet scoop ... WTF . You could even see where the thing was glued onto the bonnet . It didnt even have an opening, just some white sticker lines on the front scoop area to make it look like it had some mesh in it lol . Had some bling chrome looking hubcaps on the standard steel wheels as well. Seriously if this trend continues im going to sell my car :)

As mentioned above some cars are plaqued with dash rattles (mine included). If you take a car for a test drive and it rattles , it will always rattle. Dont underestimate this as it can sour the experience of an otherwise fantastic car. There are ways to deal with it yourself if it is out of warranty, but looking around for a car with no rattles would be a better idea imo. Ahh the benefit of hindsight !

I find when my tank is near full i get a clunk when taking off. I thought it was something more sinister till i worked out it was the fuel. It is more noticeable when on a slight incline as well.

I had the same problem ,my car has 75000klms, but when i had my battery checked it was all ok .
On top of this i had soot on the rear bumper and my fuel economy had gotten worse , so it was recommended that i had an injector clean done. ( By toyota )
It cost $100 dollars but seems to have solved the starting problem. Will have to wait a bit longer to see if im getting better fuel economy again .

Im about to go down this path too, having had 200ml of oil added to the gearbox by toyota ( as per the toyota service bulliten ) and am still experiencing flaring between 3rd and 4th ( only ever when cold though ).My dealer has applied for an out of warranty fix for me , that they assure me will be honoured due to it being a known issue. My car is an 06 model with 66000klms.
Im not too worried about shift points etc changing , i just want the flaring to stop.
It is a relief to read that there has been positive results. (Hopefully the gearbox doees improve for you as well dave262)

My parents 07 Presara had what we thought was a leaking moonroof. It was wet in the passenger footwell.
It actually turned out to be a leaking front windscreen. The service guys said they had seen it on other Aurions.
Just a thought if the moonroof turns out ot be fine.

I have previously worked in a large toyota spare parts warehouse and can say that this is common practice within the industry . They might sell component parts initially, but if there is little demand or the model is getting older then they will start selling the part within an assembly only.
It gets expensive when it starts happening with mechanical parts , eg they stop selling seal kits and make you buy the whole thing.
Another factor is parts such as belt moulds etc are generally sold to smash repairers, who are being paid by insurance companies to fix vehicles and therefore dont care about buying clips only and find it easier to replace the whole assembly anyway.

Definitely crap installation ! Im thinking it went something like this
1. I have this bonnet scoopy looking thing in the shed
2. I Have this tube of stick anything to anything glue
3. I will stick directly to bonnet
It was neither put on well or level. Made the whole car look cheap and tacky .
I am a fan of bonnet scoops ( that serve a purpose ) ... but they have to look like they belong there !
