  2. Hey

I have never worn out a clutch completely. I am sure that it isnt a worn clutch.

What happens is when changing gear sometimes(prolly the aggressive times), from 1st - 2nd i find the clutch getting stuck up in the air(as if the crunch wasnt bad enough). i know it cant be good for it and i continue with the 2nd to 3rd gear change with it still stuck. clutch engagement acts normally an all. i either give it a sharp tap and it swings back down, lately i just drag it back down with my foot.

anyway, this is just a warning that this odd thing can occur, an suprise u like it did me.

any way some experience or info would be good. what you all think? need some oil? little lubrication?

    Cheers

    Trav

Check wit ur toyota mechanic or personal mechanic first :)

  3. U can get a wagon for the kids!! :D

    The missus will approve

Next TOCA cruise i come along as a 'spectator' and hopefully i can drag along MOtoman (who used to have a sportivo, now a Skyline R33)

Next cruise soon bro...stay tuned!! ;)

  4. I was their in 2004, 2005, 2006 and now in 2007 (CONFIRMED). E-Gene and I will come in the morning session (and a few seasoned others not mentioned on the forum for years to watch). I will be running Shell VPower 98RON, no additives, stock stivo. Gunning for the most powerful stock stivo again. See you then!

    Gunnin to beat u!!

*Specs same, cept on 05 Stivo... :P

  5. nice shots taken, any mods you planning to do?

at the moment all i have really done is the

    AEM CAI

6.5 in dash tv/dvd head unit

    Levin Grill

    Colour Coded the rear mudflaps

I wanted to lower the car but due to insurance reasons im unable to.

Im not really sure what else i wana do in the future, usually just spur of the moment things

U can insure with ur CAI but not allowed to dump it?

  6. I am a mechanic and I work on them all the time. I would say they are one of the most loathed and badly built cars. Ever heard of a timing belt snapping on a toyota at less than 100000Km's or tensioners for belt having to be replaced? Here is some other regular problems that I have seen within my career. Massive electrical sensor prolems. Guarenteed always after timing belt replaced, tensioner problems. Timing belt snapping at 50000Km's - despite holden's 60000km change interval, shock absorber replacement at 26000Kms, exhausts going at 30000Km, premature tyre wear, gear box problems within 100000km's, problems with doors and fuel flaps at young age. Core packs that fail regulalry and are expensive to replace and these are only the ones I can remember.

OVERALL: I have never met a mechanic who is very impressed with them.

Obviously this is only one opinion that was drafted, but there's others out there slightly similar to this. Reference to the 2004 - current models.

    Oh Sh** ....serious?

    Dat's some seriously scary stuff!

Same wit da SRi Ts?

  7. Manual is so much for more FUN!! lolz

I like the looks of the Astra...but i'd only go the SRi Turbo.

Depending on which car is better, well that's all in the eye of the beholder. ;)

Take an astra for a test drive and see how you go. :)

As for worrying about reliability issues, well cars past year 2000 are pretty decent and i don't think you'll be keeping a car for 10 years. Both companies have a good parts base, if ever anything were to happen. Holden and Toyota are both good companies in this respect.

So it boils down to your wants and how the two cars cater to them best for you. :D

    Good luck!

  8. yea personally if you're gonna have the kit...you really need to have the foggies or else a lot of rolla drivers will really notice it with negativity.

as was said....there's a handful of ascent hatches runnin round with these kits (excluding foggies) n does not look cool. <_<

If your gonna get the full kit (eg front, rear and side skirts) u've gotta go all the way and inc the foggies too! ;)

    Debadging is also recommended. B)

    me 2 cents. :)

  9. Azza,

Common man...dat's a bit of a harsh "generalization".

Ur being real sharp sayin dat we can't spare a weekend because we need to cram due to sippin free coffee.

Sorry if your not happy with a handful of us down here, but the judgments of some can't be held accountable for all, especially for newbies that are keen to get into TOCA.

A lot of us take a lot on board from u guys across the nation, n take it quite appreciatively. ^_^

  10. I got 2 exams on Monday the 11th (public holiday too I know). As much as you all know I'd love to come, it's just almost impossible being my final year and everything. Like someone said somewhere before, priorities first... :)

Not to mention a lot of the guys here have sold their cars too with many others currently following suit as well ATM.

    Word...n Word... :( :( :(

  11. U gotta be joking mate...

I got my car from them brand new...and I never got that type of service...NEVER.

I asked for the clutch adjustment to be done...Nothing and still nothing! <_<

I had a sticky accelerator pedal, asked to fix...took me 3 visits! <_<

At my last service I got charged the around the high 200, and I asked to have my foggies replaced with my own ones, nup sorry we don't do that.

Was I ever asked, "Do you have any concerns about your car?"...no yet, but if did I would get the..."No that's the way it is, a production fault common to all the other sportivos"...pffft

I really do wanna go back...I do...but maybe I've been meeting the wrong service techies all the time.

I believe MotoMan, got his stivo from there too, but has had similar average customer service with the Toyota Techies like me.

I'll try one more time, lolz cause u said so...n I guess I'll have to go through from the top eh.

Thanks for the heads up jaderd :)
