  1. sorry average km's per year for a 4wd. there is a 2008 toyota for sale but has 112000kms

112k km's for an '08 model is pretty high for a 4WD, especially if a lot of those k's were done offroad.

considering the "average" yearly km's travelled by Australians is 15k km's, for an 08 model that translates to 60k kms/yr average.

  2. welcome mealsy, hope you are happy with your purchase.

If you hop over to the Corolla section of the Forum, there's quite a few threads detailing the mods owners have done to their rolla's to hot it up and increase performance. If you have any Corolla specific questions, that's the section to ask, and hopefully other Corolla owners can help :)

  3. off topic but nice avatar Morequick

    mesmerising isn't it? ;)

ah ok Nachoman, but 60k-70k km's in 1 year is pretty high for any vehicle, then taking into consideration how it's been driven will definitely affect its life span.

guns and thrashing fast cars, Police force looking pretty attractive

  4. MUST VENT

Yesterday was a really good day i graduated yr 12 and we were all planning on going to the beach with 4 car loads of people everything was going great

till around 2 pm i was driving around eastwood on my way to manly folowing a mate and he all of a sudden locked up and i ended up smashing into his towbar my front bar was raped hard, no 1 was hurt thats the main thing, so yerh we both pulled over and talked bout what had happened, and apparently he had to lock up because of an idiot in front of him turning right with no indication into a no right turn st, my mate had to lock up and then so did i , i unfortunatly was the unlucky one

OMG how good does it feel to have finally finished Yr 12!!!

Have you finished your exams yet? mate when you do, best feeling ever, don't have to take crap from any teachers ever again, Uni is so much better, everyones on a first name basis and the Lecturers/Tutors there treat you as adults.

Nothing like celebrating graduation with a beach party :D

Enjoy it while you can, later on the stress of waiting for your marks will start to sink in lol

  5. Hmm.. It sounded you didn't do enough inspection before buying it.

I was thinking this too. Should've taken a friend or your father for a closer detailed inspection of the vehicle before purchase.

60k km's in 1 year does sound high, but the main thing is still how that 60k km's was driven. How much did you buy the car for? Maybe if you'd known that the prior owner was the QLD Police, you could've used that to lower the price.

Normally fleet and Government vehicles are replaced every 3-5 years as mentioned above, so it is strange that this one is being 'offed' after only a year/

  6. i'm surpirsed to have seen the commonwealth games committee choose india as the host country in the first place. don't be surprised everyone, this games is going to be a disaster.

That's only half of it. How can India not know what it is or is not capable of? They obviously planned to use this event as a coming out party, to try and emulate China's success with the '08 Olympic Games. Not only is this embarrassing for the Commonwealth Games Committee who awarded the games to India, but also a colossal loss of face for India especially as they view themselves as a rising power.

It is incredibly ironic that Democratic India is more corrupt than Communist China.

  7. Some photos of the "best ever" Games Village and what our athletes have to live in:

I find it ironic that Democratic India is marred by so much corruption and sub-standard work, even when their national honour is at stake whereas Communist China on the other hand were able to pull of an Olympic games on an unprecedented scale. I fail to see the comparison between the two countries, they are worlds apart.

And a "2 man investigation committee", purlease, their aftermath investigation is just as shoddy as their initial construction.

  8. Not going well is it?

"Adding to the sense of chaos that has enveloped an event India hoped would project its new economic power on the international stage, a leading Australian athlete pulled out of the competition because of security fears.Discus world champion Dani Samuels pulled out because of security and health concerns, her coach was quoted as saying by Australian Associated Press.

Organisers are scrambling to contain the damage, fearful that a pullout by a major team could wreck the October 3-14 multisport showcase that has long been dogged by delays, corruption allegations and anxiety about safety.Mike Hooper, chief executive of the Commonwealth Games Federation, led stinging criticism about the athletes' residential towers, which will embarrass the government that has admitted the country's prestige is on the line.

"They're filthy. You can't occupy them. They need a deep clean. There's builders' dust and rubble in doorways, shower doors the wrong way round, toilets that don't work," he said just two days before athletes begin arriving. There was also "excrement in places it shouldn't be", he said -- referring to problems thought to be the result of thousands of labourers using the toilets in the "certainly uninhabitable" residential complex.

Complaints about cleanliness, plumbing and electrics were also made by other countries that have sent advance parties to the Indian capital, including Scotland which described the village as "unsafe and unfit for human habitation".The government blacklisted PNR Infrastructure, the company that was constructing the bridge, and ordered an investigation by a two-member committee, the Press Trust of India reported. The Indian organising committee attempted to reassure athletes.

Lalit Bhanot, organising committee secretary-general and official spokesman for the games, said the village was "probably one of the best ever".

"The athletes will arrive here from the evening of September 23 and we are doing our best to clean the entire village well in time," he said.

"Everyone has different standards about cleanliness. The westerners have different standards, we have different standards.""

Anyways on a serious note, I think this is a GREAT idea and you and your mates are in for many hours of hilarious fun. Turn the volume up I say, best $300 spent imo!

But why stop at just the sound, you can also ebay the whirly lights as well and use that in conjunction with the fully siiiick siren, but wait, why stop there? I'm sure you could grab some imitation Police stickers as decals on the side of your car too.

Also, very important, don't forget to post it all on YouTube ;)
