  1. Congrats on your new buy!!

I think 21k is rather reasonable. I just bought a 2nd hand one (2005 model) with 70k on the clock for for $18,600 + stamp duty. Although i didnt get a gps unit, But it did come with a sunroof + cruise control + tinted windows + rear lip + floor mates.

But yeah good buy.. these days u can get a 2003 model for around 14,000 to 18,000.. depending on the k/m's but 05 models can still sell for up to 23k with low k/m's from a dealer or 21k from a private sale.

  2. yeah I had the same problem with my 03 sportivo.. its a warranty issue.. i got mine fixed with toyota.. after complaining for 3 months and writing to toyota australia. I think all they had to do was change something with the clutch. I think the clutch wasnt going all the way down when u had your foot balls to the wall.. so when u changed gear it wasnt fully down so you were forcing it in.

This was a big issue and this forum was full of angry customers.. so many pages of complaints....

  3. Yo Dan... how are you?.. Well my sportivo was parked outside my house and someone smashed it and its a complete ride off... so I bought another one the other day, its complete stock however a 05 model rather then a 03.. so gotta start again..

Im still in QLD but the car will live in melb. I will be down in melb around nov... for a month for my sis wedding... cya then

  4. Interestingly, Toyota have set up the system so that the extra power kicks in a little over 5000 rpm on the current UK spec vehicles. The torque curve of a VVTL-i is almost exactly the same as a VVT-i up to that point and then suddenly, where the VVT-i begins to run out of steam and revs, the new engine develops a new lease of life producing the extra 49 bhp right through to its 10000 rpm redline. The disappointing thing is that even with the new close ratio gearbox, the engine drops out of its optimum rev range when changing down. It seems very strange to us that the extra horsepower doesn't kick in just below 5000 rpm so that the engine can be kept in its sweet spot - this would almost certainly knock over a second off the already impressive 0-60 time of the Celica, putting it into another class altogether. Perhaps Toyota are saving this extra power for a later date. We expect to see after market chips that vary the valve lift at a lower engine speed, though as yet, none have appeared

  5. Sorry to hear that Zee that it didnt fix your gear problem. If i was you i would get that guy i had to look at the problem you have himself. He was a toyota official cant remember his name but try asking Shane he might be able to contact them for you. I remember the toyota official saying that he has come across 4 different problems with the gear related problem, one being the clutch pedal, anotherone being rust build up and 2 others. Best chance is to get him to look at your car or somone like him.

    All the best

    Adrian
