  1. Hey guys im uploading a video on you tube now, just looking for idea on how to get this car to idle proper. ill try to explain as best i can but you can see in the video how unstable it is. its an intermittent issue also but happens more often than not. revs bounce from 700-2500 at worst times in the video its fairly tame but still annoying. also find that when pulling up to lights it drops right down to 400rpm and sometimes stalls mainly at night and when its cold out side. also note when the engine its self is cold its fine. any help or idea tips ect will be great.

Do you have a powerfc? If so, the fuel map needs fixing around idle.

Unfortunately the PFC does what it wants with ignition timing around idle which can also compound the problem.

How come it does this? Anyway to stop/control the problem?

  2. no, as you are still using the same clutch. the bedding in procedure is only used for new clutches. but it is recommended you bleed the hydraulic clutch line after the sort of work you've done

Oh yeh, well i called toyota, and they said they would charge me $185 in total labour to bleed it after they adjust the height...

  3. so i bought an obx lsd the other week but then i bought a whole gearbox two days later with a quaife in it instead for an awesome price, if anyone is keen on the obx unit gimme a msg!0403730371

    Hey Daniboy

did you manage to find out if it works with our speedo gears with out any modification? or do our spedos run off the abs ? slightly confused lol..

    Regards

    dave

Edit: Has any one tried one of these guys yet , im very tempted but every single forum site is saying the build quality is poor and they need to be rebuilt, i wonder if the lsd would be strong enough with our engines in n/a condition.

Has any one done a obx lsd rebuild by any chance ?

    Regards

My one looked good quality lots of Honda people run them no need to rebuild after 40,000 km!

    Still working good

Did you DIY it with the washers, or did you get someone to do it for you? Can you make up another one if sent over to you?

Best to get the factory one out theres a guide on newcelica for doing the lsd somewhere

Then check if it needs the speedo ring if your mechanic says yes it does

Then take obx and factory one to an engineer with a spark eroder cost me $100 bucks to get done

Then the factory ring fits on with a a thin slice of metal to keep it in place

    Is that pretty much it?

If there is more detail required within the steps, do you mind Pm'ing me all the information you know about it?

  5. Bring a magnet with you, if it sticks, dun use the exhaust pipe, because it will rust fast

wait... magnet still sticks to stainless steel right...? SS doesnt rust unless i'm been taught wrongly years ago <_<

Stainless should not have much iron in its composition, so either its a very low quality stainless or just mild steel (if the magnet sticks).

It's also a common misconception that stainless doesn't rust. It can corrode just like most other materials particularly in a warm moist environment that exhausts can be (particularly on short trips).

  6. I've seen this around ages and ages ago! Dunno how legit it is, I remember his comment that said:

"brought it thinking it was for a gt4 3sgte . my loss is your gain "

He reckons his name is registered to a work shop down in Melbourne. Although you'd want to be 100% sure you were ordering the correct ECU for your engine before spending, which is what is dubious about this item.
