  1. Does anyone know an independent repairer with access to non genuine parts? I have to have 2 lower control arms replaced and just cannot afford $1165 quote from Toyota. There must be an alternative, most of the cost is in parts. $420 each -= $840 Thanks for any help - I don't know where to start Yenchy
  2. I have 2004 CVX 4x4 262,000 K on clock. Received the above report from Toyota Dealer together with quote of $1164.55 to replace. Apparently Bushes cannot be replaced - Must be full control arms. Both front gone. Does anyone know of a non genuine Toyota Parts source who may be able to supply the Lower Control Arms? parts in quote $839.00 What do you think of wreckers for these parts? Any suggestions? Thanks Yenchy
  3. 2004 CVX 263.000K Mainly city but some highway cruising. Rear window came out of channel once - easy cheap fix. Not really anything else
  4. I recommend 98 petrol
  5. 2004 CVX 2004 260,000. Nothing wrong apart from rear window failing twice (poor gluing) and side of driving seat cracking - Rest is leather that is cheap something Best car I ever owned
  6. Hi Not long ago I had 240,000 service $735. And remember them telling me to make sure the fuel tank was < 1/4 full. When I asked them why they explained the tank had to come out to replace fuel filter. Overall though Kluger is not bad on servicing costs. Yenchy
  7. Hi Guys I have a 2004 Kluger CVX which has now done 260,000K virtually without a problem. The only thing that bugs me (started at 100,000K) ( so I have put up with it for 150,000K), is the above. I have studied this problem over the years and have ascertained that the Check Engine Light and therefore V.S.C light only comes on in the following circumstances: Warm engine ; stop for one hour ; restart engine - Bingo! on she comes. But not every time! Solution: Ignore it until engine is cold, drive it for a few minutes when cold, stop and take key out, restart : Bingo! no lights As I understand it, the check engine light automatically triggers VSC light which means there is no V.S.C. Dealer cannot tell me what the implications of no V.S.C are but I am assuming - No traction control : No E.B.D : No A.S.B and ??? Dealer checked it out and came back with following solution: Found 2 code : Need to replace oxygen sensor for a/f sensor bank 2 sensor1. I am an aged pensioner and do not even know what an O2 sensor does. I do know that it costs $100's to replace which I cannot afford. Questions: Is the cost in the part or labour? Would a sensor from wreckers reduce cost significantly? Is there any other alternative? Thanks in anticipation for any advice. Love the car - best I have ever owned and I have had a variety during my lifetime. Regards Yenchy
  8. I have had a 2004 CVX since new and have recorded every drop of fuel put into it since I bought it. Current mileage = 228,000K I use an excel spreadsheet for calculations and it has averaged 14.19L per 100K since new. Does country 30% Normal City 30% (if anything about Sydney can be called normal) Kids to school - local shops etc (worse scenario) 40% Before I retired and started kids thing it was getting 13.8L 100K Stopped using unleaded after about 5,000K - Too much pinging Now use only 98RON unless only 95RON available in country. Tyres set at 40PSI coldish Pirelli Scorpion - Road tyres Usual occupants 1.3 Junk always carried in car - about 4K Driving style - Getting slower in old age but always to speed limit with occasional burst., I use 4th and 3rd a lot on hills It achieves <10L per 100K on long trips and it is usually full - 4 adults and four big bags Car has never looked like giving trouble except for 1 wheel bearing and one window clamp needing replacement. Happy motoring guys and girls Cheers Yenchy

  12. I own a 2004 Kluger CVX AWD - 240,000K. Great car About 100,000K ago the VSC (traction control) and check engine lights came on when I started the car. I was on holidays over long weekend so I could do nothing. Lo and behold both lights went off again a few starts later. Since then it has happened periodically and I have not worried about it thinking it would be dirty or loose sensor. It always goes off after a few starts. Now it is happening twice a week and I am getting frustrated. Toyota charge a fortune to even look at such a thing in Australia - Any suggestions? Yenchy
  13. I accidentally lodged an issue in this form - below - sorry I am in Sydney - have a 2004 CVX - Love it - Done 200800 without pmany problems at all - what a great car, I bought it with retirement money in 2004 knowing I would never be able to afford another new car and trying to cover all the bases for car ownership - I think Kluger means "what a good idea" in German and they got that right. Mean machine (what a motor), luxury limo (sort of), family or oldie car, a little off road, safe safe safe, that traction control kept me out of a head on at significant speed once =- has already paid for itself. Only proms - Splitting drivers seat and a little road noise Even the tyres aren't too bad - bought Pirelli Scorpions for $218 yesterday As anyone done "BIG" mileage in one of these yet? This old pensioner hopes it will last. Cheers for now
  14. Hi - I am a new member Drive a 2004 Kluger SVX and have done 206000 happy K's I put some Khuma Tyres on it a while ago and now I seem to have a noise which I cannot identify. It is either tyre noise or something serious like a bearing or axle. Today I threw two of the tyres away (worn out) and replaced them with Pirelli STR Scorpions - STR's I think. I still have the road noise (moved two Khumas left to the rear and put the two new Scorpions on the front) The "road noise" is constant regardless of revs and whether it is in gear or not. To be honest I am now imagining things. Has anyone ever had a noise problem with Khumas? Should I be looking at bearings or axle? Is some noise common? Cheers Yenchy
