  1. Folks I'm replying to my own post; I've fixed the problem with the help of the web, jaycar advice to try to try Element 14 for the relays & a tech savy fishing mate that knew how to do the work. The cost was $25.00 to do something that looked like casting up to $1000.00. JohnH
  2. Hi I'm a new member form Tascott, NSW Australia & I own a 1990 SR5 4 runner which I've owned since new, the rear window ceased to function & I've traced it to two relays in the contol box; I found an exellent fix on the web from a fellow in the US which explains what to use & how to fix it but I'm haveing trouble sourcing the relays in Aus. The relays he used are Sanyou (correct spelling) SRD-S-112D. my attempts to source them from the US have failed because I can only locate wholesalers who are only interested in bulk orders. If someone can give me the contact details for a retailer anywhere or an alternate relay I'd be very gratefull. Below is an extract from the website I Googled. The Problem First off, some background info. The rear window motor circuit is energized via a relay. A relay is a simple electrical switch that when a first circuit is energized, it completes a second circuit. In this application, Toyota used a 6A relay when it seems they should have used a heavier duty relay of 10A or so. After time, the contacts where the second circuit is completed wear out and no longer conduct electricity as well. Thus, the motor does not receive enough power to raise the window. I called around to see if I could find replacement repairs from the OEM (Omron). However, I was told that these Omron relays were specially built for Toyota and you cannot buy them. The electronics part store (Main Electronics in Vancouver, BC) were very helpful and found a 5 pin relay that is smaller and would fit. It also has a higher amperage rating of 10A which should it should last the life of the truck.
