I solved the problem of the over heating wheel at last. I seems the small shaft that the caliper slides on was jammed. I am not sure how it got jammed because as soon as I freed it, it slid very good. It was still well lubricated so why did it jam? There was still quite a bit of the pads left but worn quite a bit. After putting on the new pads all was good. I was not happy to go on long trips without checking out everything so we pulled the pistons out of the calipers and put in new kits but the old o rings seemed to still be good after 180,000klm. The bearings are also in good condition. At the same time I put on $400 Monroe Gas-Magnum 4x4 shock absorbers on the rear as the rear leans over quite a bit being a Winnebago on the rear. It has beefed up spring and air bags but I do not think they are all the much better than the 2007 Toyota shock absorbers I took out. When pulling out the shock absorbers slowly and very quickly in and out they did not seem to be much improved on the original ones. I would have thought they would have been a bit stiffer and I know I should really do the front ones also. Everyone seem to say how good those shock absorbers are but I guess they are not fully loaded all the time with a Winnebago on the back of the Hilux.

I seem to think the wheel bearings on my 2007 Tacoma/Hilux are good and the disk turns smoothly with the caliper off. I think the brakes are causing the excessive heat. I just put on new Toyota disk pads and the sliders on the calipers seems to slide good. So it must be the piston in the calipers or the master cylinder. I have replaced the brake fluid and the whole system has been bled. But when I pump the brake a few times with the motor on and hold my foot on the pedal on the last pump, the pedal goes down notably. Is that a sign the the seals between to front and back brakes in the master cylinder are leaking.

2007 Tacoma/Hilux I will check my front bearings when I remove the caliper next time but I think the heat may be coming from the brake pads. After a 100klm trip and only using the brakes lightly for a couple of corners on quite a hot day, I checked the heat with an infrared thermometer and they were 173 degress F or 78.3 degrees C. That is like a hot Florida/Australian day but not the hottest. I checked the temperature near the centre of the wheel. Just wondered if anyone else can check their temperature in similar conditions and let me know how hot theirs get. Thanks

Thanks for all the comments and it seem like I will not worry about them but at the start of any noise I'll replace the bearings seeing a sealed unit. I'll ask my mechanic mate more about them but only see him every 6 months and have been forgetting to ask him about them. I'll jack up the front wheels and check if the play in the bearings is correct. Thanks again.

I have a 2007 petrol Hilux that has done 165,000 klm and not sure if the front wheel bearings have ever been repacked. I have only had it a couple of years and it has a Winnebago on the back. I can not see anything in the manual and the servicing when it is suppose to be done. Advice on when the front wheel bearings should be repacked would be great.

I have a 2001 LWB Hi Ace model RZH113R-RBPREQ and have a oil leak. It appears to be in the sump gasket on the drivers side right at the front. The oil does not appear to be coming from above the sump gasket. It is leaking a lot and can not be driven or I will lose all the oil. Guess there is no easy method of putting fiber glass or something along the gasket. I guess it is under pressure and will always force the oil out. The oil pan will only drop down a small amount so is it possible to easily replace the sump gasket . Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
