  1. Waiting for a new corolla sportivo with LIFT or Supercharge? :P

Id love to see the corolla come out with a supercharger model even turbo even if its only on the sports model and keep the others n/a but think we will need a miracle to see that happen haha

Toyota is aiming to sell their cars to practical people, probably that's why they chose not to make other engines. I doubt this will change too soon...

I totally understand that but there is nothing wrong or unpractical about putting a 2L motor in for a bit more zippyness to be on par with the other manufacturers. The mazda 3 sp25 isnt a impractical car either and they sell lots of them so its not like a sportier corolla would be a hardcore street racer lol would still be fuel efficient with a 2L too but anyway not a huge deal though just an opinion.

It might even be more fuel efficient if you don't have a lead foot, and it's got more power to pull the car :)

I would've definitely bought this corolla if I knew it was coming out. $30k drive away with all the options at 1.9% finance! Instead I bought a camry for half the price lol.

Put a nice turbo charger on that corolla after warranty :D

Thats exactly right just because a car has more power or a turbo etc doesnt mean it will use more fuel as you said would probably actually use less and you have more power to have more fun haha

When i bought my corolla (mid 2012) i didnt know this new corolla was coming out and the dealer didnt mention it either :( i reckon i would have waited for this one but i do still love my zre though, fantastic car.

I like the back of the car in design but don't like the front design of the car.

My 2011 Corolla Hatch looks nicer at the front.

Is this car lower to the ground than the 2011 model. The 2011 model that I own is nice and high off the ground which is great as if I am turning left and a four wheel drive is turning right I can see through the windows of the 4wd to see if its clear to turn left. My previous corolla hatch was lower to the ground and all I ever say when turning left was the car doors of a 4wd turning right.

My current 2011 corolla when driving it is impossible to see the front of the car making life very difficult when parking or going between two cars. It seems all the modern car brands have the bonet sloping downwards to make it look more sporty.

My 2011 corolla has a large front window but has these large window frames down the side of the car which are about 4 inches wide and when turning into a corner its near impossible to see if a car is parked on the side of the road. I have to bend my head forward when turning due to this blind spot. The frames have side air bags but I wish they would drop them for a thinner frame to cover the blind spot.

Apart from those minor iirritations I do like driving my Toyota Corolla Hatch that I bought last Dec. Its a very smooth drive and on bumps roads you really get a smooth drive. Good fuel economy and love the button that displays how many KM before the tank is out of petrol. The headlights are really good on this corolla. It lights up not only the front area but the side foot path so you can see pedestrians. My older corolla headlights were like looking into a tunnel vision and didn't light up the road nearly as much as my current car.

My 2011 corolla has a 55 litre tank which is ample for me. I get 464km to the tank. Some other smaller cars have bigger petrol tanks. Not sure what the new model has for its size petrol tank.

At the back of the car down the side I would rather see them have a longer glass window than a blocked out area as when parking and driving backwards it creates a blind spot. I almost think they do this to create more car accidents to keep them busy with endless repairs:)

you only get 464 km to a tank???

I constantly get atleast 650 km to a tank and thats a combination of city and highway driving and cruising and enthusiastic driving should get more then that i reckon.

  3. They could have increased the power of the Corolla a bit more to 2L engine, they increased it for the Camry to 2.5L wit 135KW now.

Then it would have at least 110-120kw (nice increase from 100kw/103kw). Maybe they're waiting it out till the next model :)

I agree and I really dont see why they dont increase it to a 2L as all the corolla's competition have a 2L or smaller engine with a turbo. It does have sufficient power but 2L would be nice, maybe in the future haha :) Also mazda still have the sp25 with a 2.5L and then the 2L in the other models (except mps) and they sell lots so its not like toyota wouldnt sell any actual sports model corollas with a better engine. Anywho not knocking toyota or anything i absolutely love my corolla but just doesnt make much sense.

  4. i suppose it depnds what you want and how much you want to spend, do you want manual or paddle shift? iv recently bought a ascent sport and im loving it i think its great what you get for the price. only reason i would have liked to get the next model is to have the sunroof but didnt really think it was worth the extra $$$ tbh. what ever one you choose you'll love it :)

    id pick ascent sport.

  5. ok so this might sound stupid but who here that owns a ZRE can tell me where the oil filter is? iv looked around the sump area and on the front of the engine but cant find it??? do you need to take the black plastic undertray thing off (under the car)? i did only have a quick look for it but no luck :/

  6. if you google kmac suspension they are located in sydney, i think mine cost $375 posted roughly, cant quit remember. its a very good investment

Ya... I got it off another member here 2nd hand. :))

haha yea sorry man, that reply was for DemonRolla, forgot to use the quote.

    cheers

  7. ah nice one. i was going to go for the springs only too cause i want it lowered and stiffer but think i might wait and just go for the coilovers i think. how good or bad is the ride comfort with those springs in compared to stock?

Ride comfort with lowered springs is pretty good. Not too bumpy...at least not noticeable. But i know for sure coils will make the ride more bumpy and uncomfy.

cool thats good to know, not sure what to get yet as they springs are massively cheaper but coils probably better for the long run. coilovers shouldnt be much worse if any compared to springs as you can adj the damper etc nice ride height you have too with the lowered springs.

  8. penrite

Penrite engine oil is absolutely S**T!!! I used to run it, then went nulon which was way better and now liqui moly which is better again, in fact so good that my motor leaks from places that i never even knew existed!! LOL! :D

Another important thing is to change your gear box oil. IMO its more important than having fresh engine oil when youre racing, gearbox oil will make it so that your box will change smoother, and reduce crunching. I change my gearbox oil before and after I track the car. If its daily use i change it every 20,000. I use 75-90 Western Oil Syngear with a heat resistance additive, the name escapes me which one it is...

Engine oil i change every 4,000 (4AGE's tend to turn their oil black pretty quickly)

As Ben said, brake fluid and pads are also a critical thing to maintain! Penrite racing fluid and QFM A1RM pads work best IMO :)

cheers for all the info mate. i think at this stage i might just change the engine oil before and after the track day. id do gearbox oil too as its just as important but the car has only done 5000 km and money is a bit tight by the time i pay for the day and get up there etc so ill go easy on the box and brakes. ill see what there like after the day and if needed ill change the oil/brakes then. think ill go nulon for the oil too sounds like its good stuff.

  9. ah nice one. i was going to go for the springs only too cause i want it lowered and stiffer but think i might wait and just go for the coilovers i think. how good or bad is the ride comfort with those springs in compared to stock?

  10. yea would be pretty technical i reckon to get around the airbag and probably even the seatbelt buzzer and light. i think you can get adaptor things though that plug into the wires so it thinks its all connected properly still but it actually isnt for when you change to a race seat but i dunno where to get them. iv seen it done in new wrx sti's so it can be done just got to know how lol

  11. anybody know if you would be able to fit a sports/bucket seat without upsetting the seatbelt sensors and whatever?

i was just thinking the drift brand seat from autobarn also can use a harness with those if i wish too. similar design to a wrx seat. unless toyota made a factory sports/bucket seat?

  12. Can i ask where you buy the cusco front strut brace from? and how much?

yea man, i got it from greenline.jp and its was $220 posted if i remember correctly. quick delivery too good place to buy from. ill be honest though i didnt really feel a difference when i put it on but i still like it haha
