  1. are you from the USA? because i dont recall being a TSB for this fix here in australia. and i dont think they call it a TSB be here..but i could be wrong. nay from perth have a chat with your dealer they should refer to them as technical service bulletins (TSB) i've had the intermediate drive shaft tsb done twice now and also the transmission tsb - although unlike the US where they order in a remanufactured tranny they rebuild the trannies here instead with the new parts
  2. Hi guys, Just had the TSB carried out at my local dealership - was worried at first of them messing up the engine/gearbox uninstall/reinstall but all is good (so far) the car drives better than new now - feels lexus like in regards to the engine/transmission (rx350) no more whine, engine/car is a lot quieter (almost feels weird not having the whine), shifts are much much smoother will report back in a couple of weeks to let you know how things are going

    Rav4 Towbar

The reason being is that the third generation Rav's run led tail lights which cannot take the kind of current drawn by conventional trailer lights, hence a harness with a "trailer control module" is required to intercept a harness at the front of the cabin In regards to the factory toyota hitch - it's definitely a 2 man job and about half a days worth of work there are reinforcement brackets that get bolted in a multi-tude of places allowing the car to tow 1900kg worth (the box is ridiculously heavy - make sure you have someone to help you get this in and out of the car if you decide to purchase it, i can't remember how i managed to get it out by myself) The instructions should be easy enough to follow, the hard part is cutting your bumper to allow the hitch receptacle to protrude - I did this with a dremel which made this much easier - (it's just something that feels weird to do) If you do decide to DIY make sure you have all the required tools, including a torque wrench Price wise it was actually pretty decent - i think all up it was roughly around 600 inc harness and ball about a yr ago
  4. laggy throttle ? quite the opposite on my 08 pre-update model if anything it's too touchy on take off (the post update I also drove seemed to have fixed the overly sensitive throttle) the only lagginess i have with the car is its inability to decide which gear it should be in the tcu/tcm could definitely do with a reprogram edit: the sulphur smell is quite apparent when new, I've almost clocked 20k on the rav now and it has almost disappeared
  5. The other thing to note here is that the updated rav's only use a 2 head reverse system as opposed to the 4 head on the pre-update models
  6. Those yanks really fall for the placebo effect really easily. Removing the intake resonators and the carbon filter in the top of the air box provides nearly nil benefit. The only thing you achieve from removing them is induction sound. The intake is designed pretty well on the Kluger as it is and the stock nonwoven full-fabric filter is not that restrictive. The main restrictions that should be removed to gain a little power are all on the exhaust end. It will be big bucks though to get headers and a full system for a fairly minimal gain. the aus spec kluger doesn't seem to have this charcoal filter that sits in the airbox like the yank spec highlander aus and yank spec rav have this filter in addition to the white air filter
  7. again without spending big bucks there isn't a great deal that can be done... there is a charcoal filter within the rav's airbox which you can remove to free up some top end not too sure how noticeable a gain you will get but thats where you can start the yanks claim that this produces better throttle response and that the filter is highly restrictive apart from that the other restrictions would be located around the pre-cats in the exhaust system

    RAV4 SX6 Tow Bar

the harness is a must unless your trailer is running led lights
  10. Initially started out at about 14.x L / 100 KM now it's doing into the 11.x L / 100KM with some very spirited driving (this is the V6 model)

    Sulphur smell

It would seem the leak would be coming from the front somewhere - i'm guessing the precats are too restrictive causing a leak through the gaskets... Experienced it on my 08 SX6 since new and still have the same issue every now and then (6500km now) dealer said they couldn't smell any sulfur Only been using BP ultimate (98 ron low sulfur fuel)
  12. Smart start and entry system that is available everywhere else (I would have paid the difference to get the ZR6 if it came with this) 18" alloys and some firmer suspension (18" alloys seem to be available everywhere except aus) Sequential auto mode for the v6 (come-on the kluger and aurion both have this) Euro style instrument cluster with flat bottomed steering wheel and paddle shifters (this includes all the trip computer info you get on the top model corolla) More adjustable seats (still haven't found a comfortable driving position yet) Auto-dipping rear view mirrors (this is available as an option in japan) Auto wipers (rolla zr gets this) HID headlights (rolla zr also gets this) Full auto windows all around Cooled and heated leather seats for ZR6 I'm sure theres more on my wishlist but thats all i can think of for now
  13. I picked up my SX6 with carpet mats, rear rubber cargo mat and rear rev park sensors for $39500 OTR this was back in December 08/08 (pre-facelift model)
