  1. hey, some updates. Went to the mechanic this morning and he spoke to a diesel specialist. After lots of questions, the specialist reckons that it is the lift pump. A tiny little pump mear the injectors. According to the specialist, it is very very common on those cars as they can become loose and therefore, let a tiny bit of air in, especially up hill. Best of all, it costs 30 dollars (after all that!!!!!) Anyway, we'll leave the car with the mechanic, he will put it on and we'll see. but according to him, the diesel specialist was quite confident. we'll see... Wish me (and the car) some luck!!! Will keep you updated :-))
  2. Good morning, Thanks for your reply. I am going back to the mechanic today and I will have a tchat to him. He spoke to a diesel specialist yesterday so I'll see. I will let you know as well. I will also mention to him all the things you suggested, can not hurt!! Thanks again, let you know
  3. Hey, thanks for your reply. I honnesly don't know if there is a pump in the tank. I just checked the internet and There is apparently a fuel tank sender + the diesel pump in the engine. But I am not sure at all... Also, I thought, is it possible to increase the volume of fuel in the diesel pump? Just on top of my head, if the pump is working but it is somehow too tight, can the volume of fuel be increase through it? Obvisouly more fuel is being used but the power might be back. Don't know... (thanks for your patience, just trying to help out the hubby :-))
  4. Hi to you all, I have a 75 series landcriser 1989 with over 400 000 kms on the ODO... Still going very well until now! Been to the mechanic, and still the problem has been fixed. Hope you guys can help! Lately we have been experiencing sudden loss of power, especially when driving up hill. The car will strugle and eventually stall. We took it to the mechanic, a friend of mine. First he thought it was the diesel pump, not that... So he changed all the injectors (which needed a change), fixed all the leaks and yet, not working. Up hill, no power. Then, he checked the fuel. He cleaned the tank and flush the engine. He thinks that somewhere along the line, somebody put the wrong fuel (unleaded instead of diesel) and it wasn't clean properly. The car now is going okay... up to the hill. We can get it up to 100/km on a flat road, no probs. But then, on the way up to the hill, it struggles and drops. The car is going fine until a moment where we can hear the loss of power and then that's it. The mechanic called a diesel specialist so we'll see tomorrow what he says. In the same time, any one of you experienced this? i know the engine is not that young but a loss of power, just like that, i don;t believe that.. If anyone has any suggestions, you are more than welcome to say them. Any questions as well. Would really appreciate! getting crazy (and very sad!!) thank you very very much An owner and a car in distress
