Does anybody know why i cannot switch over to aux setting on my audio control panel? it seems stuck on "BTA no connect" and no amount of button mashing will fix it!

Any reason why I cant switch the the auxillary setting in my car audio panel? I have had troubles every now and again but after a while it switched over. Howverer now its stuck on BTA connect and seemingly no amount of button mashing will fix it! .Is this a common problem? I cant find anything in the owners manual to help. So frustrating I need this function.
