My 1998 Tarago automatic (I am the second owner) is in good mechanical shape and is regularly serviced. Recently, on a very hot day I could not restart it after it had been parked for about ten minutes. There was no problem with the battery or the starter motor; it just would not fire. After a further 20 minutes or so, it restarted on the first turn of the key. Since then, it has happened several times, during which the combined wisdom of my own mechanic, two Toyota dealers who have not previously heard of the problem, and the NRMA has not been able to come up with a cause or solution. (The cooling system is fine, so that is not the cause of the problem) It was initially thought to be related to high ambient temperatures, but has also occurred on cooler days I wonder whether any members can help.
