  1. Lucio and Exec6, thanks for the help guys. I have just arranged the purchase of the AEM kit.

Hey is there any chance Exec that you would be able to post some pics of the intake or more specifically shots of the areas that you had to modify to fit it. I have seen the photo of your intake installed but it is a little hard to see the brackets.

    Thanks again guys.

  2. Just a quick question for anyone who has the AEM CAI. Can you remember the approx weight and dimension of it in the packaging. My brother in law is coming over from Canada in a few weeks and I wanted to know if it would fit in his luggage?

This is for the full Cold Air Induction kit, the same as fitted to Exec6's Stivo.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Exec6 can you put a tyre on your car that has a greater load rating than the standard tyres?

Bridgstone make the GIII in a 225/40ZR18 that has a load rating of 88(560kg)

The Potenza's only have a load rating of 87.

Would a 225 be too wide for the Stivo?

  4. I have been looking for the best price available for CAI's. With the Aussie $$ being so strong at the mo you can get really good prices from Canada. You can pick up the AEM CAI for Aus$212 + delivery. I haven't been able to find any TRD distributors in Canada though. If anyone can find one can you let me know.

  5. Exec6, the info you posted is probably correct. The guy I was speaking to was only a boilermaker by trade who does part of the welding on the exhaust system. From what he was saying I gathered that the emissions on the US systems were much higher, no cat etc.

But hey, I don't know either way I was simply repeting what he was telling me.

  6. Illuminati, I thought that a line lock was the act of locking the front wheels while the back wheels were spinning and keeping the car as stationary as possible, exactly what you were saying except that a line lock is not the button or the mechanical system that makes it possible it is the type of burnout itself. You can get line locker kits fitted by most break specialist, I have a friend who used to have a RX3 with a 13B turbo that had it fitted, a fun little toy.

The Summernats are on down here in Canberra this weekend, I can't wait to check out the burnout comp.

  7. xTigerx, pretty interesting to look at your dyno sheets, you say that with the full Lukey system she screamed at top end but from what it looks like you lost a fair bit of torque as well. Did it bog down much at low revs?

I was speaking to a bloke on the weekend who fabricates and welds the exhaust system for the Monaro being exported to the US (under Pontiac badging) and he is mad keen about his Corolla's, he was telling me that it is much better for the 1zz and 2zz to have a really free flowing piping (at least 2inch as on Stivo) but to really restrict at the muffler.

He kinda contradicted everything else I have read on here with people placing huge barrels up the back. But I was talking to him in the early hours of New Years day so he may have been slightly affected by something and not talking too straight.

BTW the Monaro which will soon be sold in the US makes at least 25kw more than the Aussie model due to the exhaust alone, they have pretty laxed emmissions laws over there.

  8. I am paying $720 with GIO, I am under 25 with full no claim and live in Canberra where premiums are a little cheaper. I am thinking of upping my excess next year to lower it further.

I did a lot of shopping around for insurance and GIO beat them all by at least $150.

  9. Your right Illuninati general insurance won't cover you. To attend the open track days you have to purchase a 12 month club membership for $30 which includes limited track insurance, then there is optional cover which can be purchased on a day to day basis specific to racing at Wakefield.

My bubble is not burst that easy. :D

  10. Wakefield Park holds Open Practice/No Speed Limit Days which are open to anyone with a Car/Bike that holds a Drivers licence.

I think the cost is about $80/day.

This might be a good idea to get all the Stivo's together and open them up once everyone has run their cars in and the temps start to go down a bit.

The track is 2.2km long, it is 2 hours from Sydney and 1 hour from Canberra.

  11. Top story Sharmz...

That has to be the most leanient copper in Aus. I don't see myself roaring to 170 in a sixty zone though. But the odd race off the lights aint too bad. My g/f is allways saying "whats the point of a fast car if we have speed limits and as I keep telling her it is not about how fast your going but how long it takes to get you there. :D
