  1. Shortly my local dealer is fitting F & R mudflaps, body side moulding & a strobing device to the rear window stop light. I have not yet asked them to fit the Philips White Vision globes, perhaps this can be done at the same time. My 2014 SL has most satisfactory night lighting with Philips White Vision globes. This car does a lot of regional night trips and has good white lights with reasonable long distance vision.

  2. I upgraded my 2014 Atara SL lights to Philips White Vision. Beaut clear white lighting with approximately 40% more light than standard and a noticible longer beam of light. These are still legal for road use. I have also just purchased a  new 2015 Atara SL and will soon upgrade to the same Philips globes. They have been a most satisfactory upgrade for me.

  3. YOU MUST INSTALL THESE HUB RINGS OR YOUR STUDS MAY BREAK AWAY DUE TO STRESS ON THEM. You stand a good chance of a wheel flying off when you are mobile, endangering yourself & the rest of us near you at the time. Studs hold the wheel on,  the centre of the wheel takes the weight on the spigot.

    Centre spigot size
the wheel is centred using the spigot before the wheel nuts or lug bolts are tightened. In this design the spigot normally sticks out from the axle of the car which is why it can be used to centre the wheel beforehand. With aftermarket alloy wheels, or when swapping wheels the spigot hole is often larger than the spigot on the car which is why you need a spigot-locating or hub-centric ring. This is a plastic or metal doughnut that matches the outside diameter of the wheel's spigot hole and the inside diameter of the axle spigot, and is used to ensure a snug fit between the two whilst centring the wheel. The spigot takes the weight load of the vehicle not the studs.

  4. on a 4 hour trip to melbourne my fuel use shows 6.5 without air con being used and 7.2 when I use the air conditioner. Around our country town, reasonably short stop /starting, average shows 9.8. We are senior drivers and only use mild footwork on the go pedal. ha, ha !   Government test says 7.8 average, 6 on trip and 10.9 around town. You do not say if your figure is for highway or around suburbs driving. Remember these in car guides are just that a guide only.

Your VF figure is very low as government tests show average 11.7, 8.5 on trips, 17.2 around town

  5. I see Mr. Toyota shows different kw and nm specs for the base model Altise with single exhaust versus all the other variants with dual exhausts. Altise has 133KW & 231Nm where all the others have 135KW & 235NM. All models show the same fuel useage.  So yes performance will be increased but only a small amount. Only you can decide if the cost to add the second pipes / muffler/ brackets will be worth it.

  6. I once had a '96 wide body Camry that also began to smell. I used an anti bacteriacide in a pump up pressure bottle and used a long clear plastic tube down the vents then from under car forced fed it up the evaporator drain. A piece of rag to plug the hole over night then flushed through the vents after removing the rag from the drain. The products you are using are masking the smell but you need to kill the active bacteria living in and around the wet coils in the cooling box. Even srong bleach mixture will help be careful how you handle it as bleach will remove colour from just about everything it touches. Bacteria smells from evap. units are not uncommon some just stink worse than others. Workshops and dealers use an aerosol product pressured down the vents to kill it and your wallet ! A good trade auto store should be able to supply a similar product.

  7. My kit was genuine Toyota. front only illuminate. My auto elec. could not sort it so I purchased the genuine Toyota wiring kit. Still could not sort it Gave him 2 different USA wiring instructions, he could not sort it. This sparky cost me a lot in labour but eventually had only 2 front sills each one lit up as either fron door opened. I then took the job to Toyota and now both fron sills light when either front door is opened. They do not light when opening the rear doors. No control from the overhead light switch at all. I also had the toyota tech. add in under dash and under seat blue leds. The whole exercise including parts & labour has cost me close to $2000.oo.. and still I do not have exactly what I want. The USA sites saying clip in here or scotch lok there make it seem so very easy.

Would I do it again ....maybe. By the way can you show the link to your supplier for the sill kit ? i may do the rear sills on my SL.

  8. Hello, I am about to install a Philips HID high beam kit to my 2013 Camry Atara SL. Has anyone done this ? Every install instruction is clear, however my SL has the dust caps over the rear of the globes and the original wiring enters the rear shroud from below through a rubber grommet. I was curious as to how other club members may have installed the new wiring harness with the dust cap and shroud. Has any one done it on these ASV50 models ...? ?

  9. Sigit, I also purchased Phillips White Vision globes and struggled to undo globes in my 2014 Atara SL. We should be able to turn them counter clockwise very easily but no way, I could feel the lenses moving against the strain. Yes, I got my Toyota dealer to replace them all for me. Hi-beam, low-beam & foggies. White lighting now looks so good. Now the park globes look & pale & sick.

  10. Colin, I also wish to install a forward facing camera to my 11/2013 Camry SL. I was planning to source positive power from the fuse panel under hood by using an add a circuit cable. These are easy to source from Ebay, Jaycar ect. I was contemplating using the radio fuse or perhaps accessories fuse. This would make the system alive when the accessories or ignition is on. Just a suggestion, do you have another device using the cigar lighter at the same time ? Could it be over loading the circuit ?

Can you tell me which emblem mounted camera you purchased ? So many on Ebay, maybe you still have the buyers details for me.

My Camry is Graphite metalic, I have added daylight running lights and stick on chrome wheel arch moulds.

  11. Just a note of praise for my recently fitted AEM Dry Flow air filter. I have the current Camry ASV50 Atara SL. These air filters are manufactured with technical support from K & N filters. Yes you wash them out then dry and refit them to the air box, no oil is required. I have been using K & N filters in all my cars for 28 years and I highly recommend them however by using AEM dry type there is no need to oil and therefore avoid any over oiling problems such as flow coating the air sensor ect. The performance level is only minor, but the fuel use does show up by being more economical. The AEM part number for ASV50 Camry is 28-20370.

  12. I have recently had fitted the genuine Toyota illuminated scuff plates. These were fitted by an Auto Electrical workshop. At first my dealer never told me or knew to tell me I also needed to supply my A/elec. sparky with a patch harness that is used in conjunction with the scuff plates at installation time. The dealer printed out the fitting instructions and my sparky never seemed to understand them correctly as the wiring harness is not mentioned until the last paragraph or so of the instructions. At the same time I had the sparky fit strings of blue leds under dash and seats. My cost to buy the led strings $12.

Long story but to cut it shorter the 2013 Camry SL in the workshop 3 days first visit and then another half day second visit. The scuff plates cost $185 part PT92203121, the harness part PZQ8533140 purchased later $133, then total paid for the fitting $525. Total for the pleasure of blue LEDS $843 !

Age and work prevents me doing these jobs myself. I wanted all the lighting to come on at once when either door is opened but, only get illumination at either left or right hand sides when the left or right door is opened. Lesson here ... be careful of what you wish for it can cause lots of stress and LOTS of money !
