  1. hi defyant,

i was driving by Hurstville and im pretty sure i spotted your car parked not far from Dan Murphys.

this was last saturday i think, car is looking good...i really like the rims and the lowered stance.

    do you have pedders?

    cheers

    Bru

  2. Well lowering it should be next but im concerned with the ride quality and scrapping in the driveway.

im quite happy with the look so far, maybe HID kit next... cheap mod...

If you wanna lower it and concerned about scrapping, here's a win win. Fix the driveway! :toast:

i wish it was that simple, unfortunately its council area

i even looked into getting little metal ramps but can not find it anywhere.

i also experimented with a large piece of wood but apparently i can not put anything there that

blocks the storm water from flowing....according to my neighbour...im sure it was a hint not to do it when

    he approached me.

the only other option is coilovers because i can adjust the height but that has to wait until warranty runs out.

  3. Looking good, the wheels really do suit it :D I love window tinting, looks great and its practical too  What's next on the list?

  4. Not answering the question there Bruster.

To answer the question, you are perfectly fine to mix the fuels. If you couldn't, that would be a pretty serious design failure. This applies to all cars that run on unleaded and can use E10... not just the Aurion.

true, maybe i was not as direct as you.

but the answer is there on the fuel cap, any car that can take E10 will take any other fuel. unleaded or premium

    mixed or not.

i would be worried, if my fuel cap mentioned Premium only and i mixed it with E10..

  5. Hi guys,

Just had the TSB carried out at my local dealership

    - was worried at first of them messing up the engine/gearbox uninstall/reinstall

but all is good (so far)

the car drives better than new now - feels lexus like in regards to the engine/transmission (rx350)

no more whine, engine/car is a lot quieter (almost feels weird not having the whine), shifts are much much smoother

will report back in a couple of weeks to let you know how things are going

    are you from the USA?

because i dont recall being a TSB for this fix here in australia.

and i dont think they call it a TSB be here..but i could be wrong.

  6. Hi,

I purchased my Rav4 SX6 in October 2007 brand new. We left the dealer that night and headed home. On the way the car lost power and then kicked back into life at around 60km/hr. At the same time I also noticed a very slight whine from the transmission. That was a Monday night. I thought I would leave it a couple of days to see if the loss of power happened again, and it did a couple of more times. At the same time I did some research on the net to find that Toyota ceased sales of the Rav4 v6 the night we picked ours up due to a fault.

I rang the dealer and they told me to bring it in the following Monday and leave it with us and they supplied us a brand new kluger while we waited. At the same time I mentioned the noise in the transmission.

A couple of days later I began to ring and ask what's going on with the car. They didn't know. Two weeks later, what's going on? They didn't know. One month later the car was fixed in terms of the loss of power but not the noise. I was given free 2yr extended warranty, free side steps and free first service.

I kicked up about the whine and David Lewis the head technical guy from Toyota came out to my work to road test the car with me. By the way I run a mechanical workshop.

He told me it was a common noise from the Rav4 V6 transmission and that at 100,000kms the noise wouldn't be any different. The car at that stage had 385kms. At 5000kms I took the car back as the noise wasn't getting any better in fact it was getting worse, and demanded something be done. David Lewis once again took the car for a drive and told me "it's an undesirable characteristic".

I have now done 49,924kms and the noise is getting much worse.

Obviously I have given up with them and in actual fact, the car has never been back to Toyota.

We bought a new Kluger Grande for my wife and she loves it, and I got stuck with the noisy transmission Rav4.

I have no answers for you, but all I can say is you aren't alone. All I'm going to do is get rid of the car in the next 6mths.

The noise in my trans is from 45km-80km/hr.

    Good luck.

    Hi Mate,

i got rid of my Rav4 for that reason...

if you see my posts im now own ZR6 Aurion.

they refurbished my transmission in December 2009 and the noise disappeared for about a month and then came back.

thats when i realised this problem was never going to be fixed and after having so many issues with Toyota i decided to trade up.

my Aurion has been really good so far, its been exactly a year now...

My advice to you is to keep bugging them, i took mine to Fergusons Toyota and from there Fergusons towed my car to Terry Shields

Toyota in Parramatta which apparently is where the transmisson specialist are.

if you are in Sydney give them a call or a visit, you mayve chance withem considering they at least made an effort to fix my car.

but i totally understand your frustration.

    Cheers

    Bru

  7. i too enquired about this for my wifes car.

the finance is over 4 years only, therefore the monthly repayments are the same or similar

to normal finance over a period of 5 years with a lower baloon payment.

the 2.9% only applies to new cars only and not demos.

if you buy now chances are its a 2010 model.

the other thing is they will try and get full price for the car...too not much bargain power considering you getting 2.9%

its only the base model Accent, not the conquest or ZR.

    this i what i experienced...in december.

my suggestion is , go to the auctions get the same model for about $17000 and its only 1 year old with low kms.

you still have warranty left over and save close to $10000 from RRP price.

  8. Thanks i think i might go with the kappas rims are aud1826.00 a set stick to factory look

A friend of mine in Canberra has put the Speedy Fin 20inch on a white Aurion.

the wheels have the blue colour surrounds.

it looks good and the 7.5 width ensures you will get minimal if any rubbing depending on the offset you get.

My opinion is the Kappas are desirable wheels, they sell well on Ebay and they fit Corollas and Camry's as well.

the Speedy Fins is more of a look at me type of wheel and ride quality will suffer.

I dont know your situation, but if i had the money i would go for Kappas 18inch just for comfort and if i decide to sell down track im sure i would not have any trouble offloading them.

    my 2 cents

  9. soooooooooooooooooooo how did u go?

damn im a few months late with this reply.

went good thanks, most of the scratches came off, looks almost like new.

i now put pepper on the floor surrounding the front area of the car, so the cat wont come back.

apparently Cats hate pepper.... so far it worked.

    i know, i know sounds funny...but annoying.

  10. i'd like to know which dealers in Sydney have replaced your shaft under warranty.

i have gone to two dealers and both said nothing wrong.

however i went to NRMA service and i also got the guy who installed my wheels to have a quick look

and both said shafts may need replacing...

so i have 2 independents telling me difference answers to what toyota dealers are telling me.

what do i do? i hear the noise over incline bumps, even when turning the steering right to left the steering feels loose and noisy.

my friend who owns a standard Aurion does not seem to be affected so in know there is something wrong for sure.

  11. Hi Guys,

As anyone here attended this years Motor Show?

i did yesterday evening after work and i have to say i was let down.

after 2 years without a motor show in Sydney i was expecting Car Manufacturers to come out with all guns blazing.

turns out this years motor show was just like going to a Dealership, except you have to pay for this one.

    Cons:

    * Hardly any Concepts

    * Cars on show most of them already on the road or about to be replaced.

    * BMW, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat,Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler,Ferrari, Aston Martin, Saab.... all missing in Action

    Pros:

    * Lexus LF-A

    * Audi stand... love the cars, quality...but way too expensive

    * Range Rover new 2 door 4wd

what are your thoughts, to people you have attended the motorshow this year??

  12. If you want to update, you will have to do it the way which involves effort on your behalf. Open up Google and start looking. You may even end up getting the various parts from different sources. When I compiled the last update before links to Austech (http://www.austech.info) were published, it took me about 3 hours and about 5 different downloads to get the right updated files.

it does sound like a bit of effort, my last portable garmin was a piece of cake.

So when you say downloaded did you uploaded it to the SD card or did you enter it manually?

  13. nah its ok i do understand were your coming from it just upsets me i see stuff like that every day with underqualifed people working on cars not respecting the fact its someone elses vehicle i just hope your experences improve cause if people stop buy and servicing toyotas i may not have a job for such a good manufacturer in the future

    Robie,

i understand there is good and bad in every industry, and my frustration is not targeting anyone personally but a particular dealership. The dealership should be responsible enough to take my complaint on board rather than brush it off automatically like nothing like that could happen there.

i also understand they may get a alot of complaints and could think im trying to get something for free, im not that sort of guy and i give credit to people where credit is due. i contacted Toyota Australia and the manager at the dealership but the outcome is the same.

i just have to move on and get a new tyre thats all.

if your service Dealership prides themselves on service like you said i would love to come and service my car there but unfortunately its too far out from where i work or live.

    cheers

  14. When i purchased the car at the start of the year i drove home without a spare tyre

i went back and they gave me a spare (original) at that time the tyre was newish and in good condition.

i never removed it, never touch it since then.

Recently i was cleaning the car and notice the board in the boot was loose so i looke in there and i noticed the spare tyre punctured in two places on the side wall, my tool bag which i bought was also missing. Now the last service i did was back in June 10 and since i only spotted it now it is hard to prove my case.

i recently went to the dealer to check on the shaft spline as i started to hear a knocking noise on elevated bumps and i thought maybe it was them checking for the noise, maybe removed the spare and put back an old tyre by accident....oh i dont know...many possibilities. so i contacted the dealer and they replied back saying it was noted on my last service invoice (june 10) my spare was in poor condition, but nobody mentioned it to me and it doesnt state it was punctured otherwise they would've asked me if i wanted a new tyre.

so now i lost a good michelin tyre and i cant prove they are in the wrong... im 100% sure i had a a good tyre in excellent condition.

at this stage there is nothing i can apart from coping on the chin and move on... but so frustrated because i have had 3 Toyotas in the last 5 years and i cant remember a good experience from Dealership servicing.... its just one problem after another.

when i had my Mazda3 i paid almost double for servicing but i tell you got service too...car washed everytime and when i asked for something to be repaired always there to assist me...they even painted my bumper when i scratched it.

i love the car , hate the dealership.... im in two minds if i should avoid toyota on the next upgrade purely on dealership service.

Now, should i lose my extended warranty and go to NRMA or should i stick to it and put up potential more stuff ups???

    sorry guys just venting....

  15. Maybe post a link to the threds that mention 42-45mm drop,i can't find them.

    Q) I would like to lower my Aurion. What local options do I currently have, and which ones are better? Are coilovers available.

    A) So far, the only options available locally are either King Springs or Pedders. There has been a lot of discussion over which brand is better, and realistically, it all comes down to personal preference. The King Springs tend to have the front of the car sitting higher than Pedders, but applications can vary. The Pedders are said to lower the car by approximately 42-45mm, and the King Springs will lower it by approximately 35mm.

You will most likely only get rubbing if you move to 20 inch rims and use a tire with a '35 profile' (eg. 245/35R20). Changing to a '30 profile' seems to help a fair bit. BONDIE has posted his experience in the last link below.

this is where i got it from, FAQ.

Arc, 25mm and 50mm is a huge difference isnt it??

reason for asking is i made an appointment with pedders next week but im worried after lowering it wont clear my driveway.

but i think 30mm drop should be ok.... more than that i will have problems

  16. according to this forum Pedders springs for the Aurion is a 42-45 mm drop

however i enquired with Pedders Mascot and Pedders Taren Point and both said it would be 30mm

i mentioned a couple of guys i know mentioned 42mm drop and again he emphasized 30mm only.

So i just want to make sure from people here who have abtried and tested Pedders springs to confirm the drop size.

or maybe they have changed the springs to different size.

  17. Rosebery, Eastern Suburbs.

DAMN, so sorry to hear that... im off to the shops to buy lock nuts for my 2 day old wheels.

did you have lock nuts?? do they make a difference?

i'll keep an eye on ebay...

  18. That is one clean ride... Needs lowering and the slimline windshield.

lowering for sure, im going to try and sneak that pass the wife during xmas.

    hopefully as a xmas gift...

    and window tinting...

my wish list growing by the minute.
