  1. i have been with toyota insurance since i bought my car in 2005 underwritten with swann insurance. I have put certain restrictions on my insurance including age which brought the price down and they also said in first three years if the car was a write off they would replace with new. I just rang toyota insurance and they are now underwritten by AIOI Insurance.

yeah i had an experience with swann .. they trick you . they give good deals to car buyers . then 2nd and 3rd year my insurnce jumped 4 no reason ...

    http://www.bsawheels.com.au/users/ProductDetail.aspx?id=277

the 18's ... will they fit with no probs???

    if that doesnt work then the specs ... size=18x7.5 , hole= 10, PCD= 98-120, offset= 35-45, centre hole = 73.1...... i just read that centre hole for the corollas are 55... ???

    much appreciated guys ....

alot of rims have a big centre hole to suit more cars . then fit hib rings to them from 54 to 73mm thats my ones btw unless you car is a sportivo you leagally can't put 7.5inch wide rims on the car only 1 inch wider what rolla do you have ?

    PCD is 4x100

  5. most cars that have speakers in front doors from 2000 upwards had 6.5 or 6 inch in doors.. befure that all 4inch speakers. but just put 6inch spacers on doors ..

easiest way is to ask about a particular car . Pm me if you have a list you want to find out about because i have installed many stereos in the past

  6. Hello people , tried to search .. anyone tell me if the headunit size is the same in the 2003 camry as a corolla if they have the measurements would be great

i have never seen inside the camry ...

    thanks

    chris

  7. I want to get it running, totally reliably but at minimal cost.

pick 2 but u cant have all 3 so choose:

u can get it running and totally reliable but will cost u

u can get bits totally reliable at minimal cost but it probably wont get the car running

u can get it running at minimal cost and it wont be reliable.

To get all 3 ur gonna have to take a slightly different approach and work out exactly wats needed and what its going to cost not work the other way .....

can't drive it with a bent radiator supprt panel . .so if anythings bent inwards it will cost you .. cant be a cheap fix ..

if its just cosmetic then cheap fix

  8. at first look thats about a $2000 job, find a panel beater that will do for cash and tell him you have no insurnce and they will just fix cosmetic side of it ..

roughly ... $200 per panel to paint ...

    new bonnet $100-300

    2 new headlight ... 50 - 200

    radiator // raidator suppport panel - new fans ... $200 - $500

front bumper cover and metal rio bar $50-200

radiator support panel support panel will need welding in

Accidents like this actually cost more than they look

need a pic under bonnet for better look ... if bonnet supports crack it has to come off

    hope this helps

i had a bit of experince with smashed cars

  9. Hey guys,

i recently got a new corolla 2003 ascent hatch. i am wondering has anyone installed rear speakers in the back ontop of that carpet thing that covers the boot?

I am thinking about doing it, but i dont want to ruin the boot cover thing, the speakers dont really fit as one part of the cover is raised up.

So if anyone has photos to show me how it would look, it would be much appreciated!

    Thanks :)

speakers in rear doors ? most rolla's have this .. if not you can screw spacers to the parcel tray

  10. Hey,

Im looking at buying some decent wheels, what is the legal limit on ascent? 17?

    thanks

its covered everywhere ... search ....

17x7 is fine from the stock rims of 15x6 .. 1 inch wider .... most states of aus are the same

  11. Thanks for the input Tayles. Gives me more motivation to go through with 17x7. Ill need to try sort out the "same diameter" rule though.

If rim normal is 5.5 wide or 6 or 6.5 inch wide then in most states of australia you can legally go 1 inch wider.. no more .so 17x7 is fine ... 17x8 is too big . but alot of tyre shops don't follow the rules ... just wait till cop stops you ...

    18x7.5 if your rolla states 15x6.5jj on rim size.. I thought all zze122 had 15x6jj . echo's have 14x5.5, sportivo 16x6.5

get tyres to match so your speedo is not thrown out too much

check this link ... very helpfull

  12. Anyone see the article in Melbourne cars guide about next corolla addition ?

    THE RUMION - Rumion Japan

    Article ---news limited paper

GENERATION Y is the target for a future addition to the Toyota Corolla range in Australia.

The youngsters are making new motoring choices and Toyota Australia believes the Rumion, based on the all-new Corolla, could be a winner with a combination of a flexible boxy body and a high-tech cabin.

The Rumion looks very different to the Corolla and that could be the secret to its success, provided it can come at the right price and before the middle of 2009.

"Generation Y wants something that looks different. They are expressing themselves in a different way," Toyota Australia product planning chief Doug Soden says.

He says the Rumion is a reflection of a similar trend in Japan, where a lot of twentysomethings are into their first job but still live at home. In the US, Toyota has built the Scion sub-brand to appeal to Gen-Y buyers with similar boxy baby cars.

"They want a lifestyle. Rather than a variant that looks like a Yaris or a Corolla, they want something that looks different," Soden says.

The Rumion is a compact five-seat wagon, but much more upright in the body than a traditional station wagon. It has a 1.8-litre engine and can be fitted with a six-speed manual or constantly variable transmission.

"We are studying a growing Gen-Y market that has a need for funky-looking cars that have not as much high-performance in the engines and handling. They want more high-performance specification and functionality," Soden says.

Soden says Australia is catching up fast to the international trend, which is why he is keen to get the Rumion on the road here. Even so, he cannot promise the Rumion for Australia.

"We have to consider the volume, price and engineering work to get it to Australia," Soden says. "It is among the vehicles we are studying closely, and there is a case to have it."

Looks odd but gotta see it on the road

  13. White is more common to be stolen because it's easier to paint.

No one would randomly target a corolla ... most people i have seen with sportivo's have badges removed or 1zz have sportivo kit might even not be a genuine kit . why risk getting caught for that . unfortunatly you were proberly stalked for an order

<yes dodgy panel beaters do put out orders i had one offer me a HSV bumper for my holden at to replace as factory one already painted told me a customer left it behind (YEAH!) and he said he didn't need to tell insurance company> I did take the car somewhere else .....( some use insurance company to make money unfortunatly)

they would of seen same car same area same times ....(drive round the casino in melbourne i could tell you what level some cars are on every night and they proberly arn't even staff) People have routines

it takes time to remove sideskirts if they rushing they could damage them ... they would of know how long they had .. would of been quicker to break glass and get your stereo out ... hope the insurance pays you ... they are always looking for a way out

This is why i think we should have a stolen parts/car Post

I would get a quote from Toyota for painted and fitted genuine and send insurance the quote .. not a panel beater quote

  14. Maybe as a big toyota forum we could have a place to post the time/location of stolen parts /cars .. so everyone can keep an eye out if we see the parts being offloaded ?

    What to people think

Like a database for everyones reference

i have seen this done on a HSV forum

  15. i'm with the nrma so hopefully it should be fine....

on a side note when i had a wrx i never parked it at the shops and here i was thinking the corolla would be safe lol

btw if u have a sportivo don't park it at westfields "mt druitt" or any shopping centre for extended periods of time

bad news . sorry to hear ...

They would of cased you out .. shame when people steal Parts off the car i had the glass from the mirror stolen overnight and of all things my chrome valve tyre covers a while ago

just a hint park next to a commodore or a fancy car(bmw) ... less likely for people to steal from it ... cause commodores are easiest to break into and most popular for joyride/parts
