  1. Phae, I had the same thing... you couldn't tell at first and then it just melted really fast!! In the USA, they are replacing them. Here, Toyota are coming up with every excuse why they should not. I have spoken today to other people and we are all being told the same things. As individuals, we will get nowhere.... but as a group, and with A Current Affair telling the story, it will bring it to light for many who have lost hope. My car and my house are my only assets. My car is now not safe to drive... I have informed Toyota that I can no longer drive it after losing all visibility on the road when lights reflect from the dash. I have almost had two accidents. I will not be so morally irresponsible as to drive a vehicle which could see me killing someone. I will tell you that it would be very easy indeed to run over a pedestrian, especially a child, when driving my car. It is sitting in the carport and I am running around in a $3,000 98 Ford that - ODDLY - despite sitting out in the sun for it's entire life while the good car, the AURION, was parked in the carport, does NOT have a melted dash. Same property. Same climate. Left out in the sun. Now, tell me that there is nothing wrong with these dashboards. And who knows what we have been breathing in!!!
  2. I had a sunshade on it. I had to remove it when it started to sticking to it. I can't put a dash cover now because I will never get it off!! It is a known manufacturing fault. I live in Queensland, but I still have the right to drive a Toyota without a melted dashboard. :(
  3. They are more than interested now. Don't give up. Please call Channel 9 Brisbane and support my story. I am in contact with ACA, and they have asked for photos (sent) and now are asking if I would be willing to go on camera with my car.
  4. I intend to take the melting dashboard issue to task, having been refused by Toyota when I asked for it to be replaced on my 2008 Aurion, a car that is now unsafe to drive. The dashboard is turning to liquid. I have messaged people on this forum, and if you receive it, please message me because the story is currently being reviewed, and they would like to hear from others who have experienced - or are experiencing - the issue. It is a known fault and it should be replaced, and not at our expense, but at that of the manufacturer, Toyota. I have heard various excuses from the company this week, but I refuse to let it go. There is nothing else to it.
  5. I have sent messages. I have the media interested in doing a story on melting dashboards now, but I need your support. Please message me.
  6. The dashboard of my 2008 Aurion is melting. I have used a silver foil screen to protect the car in the sun, but now I can no longer use it because it sticks to the melted dash. I see that Toyota in the US are replacing the faulty melting dashboards. Is anyone else in Australia having this problem? I have already seen some on this forum, so I am assuming it is the case. It's very dangerous, and I believe that it is possible it might not pass a safety certificate since the glare reduces visibility significantly. When I am under street lights, on the motorway, or approached by cars with high beam, I can barely see at all and it is alarming. This then leads me to suspect that, should there be an accident, my comprehensive insurance would not pay out for it.
  7. The dashboard on my 2008 Aurion has melted to a point whereby, when it is sunny or there is glare from lights, I have very limited or no clear visibility. It's downright dangerous. I see that it is a fault in cars in the US, and the dashboards are being replaced over there. I contacted Toyota here, and am awaiting a response. I would like to see the entire dash replaced because at present, I believe the car would not pass a safety certificate and thus null and void my comprehensive insurance were an accident to occur. Since I am driving dark roads and motorways, and the visibility is so poor, I foresee that happening at any time! I have been using a silver fold out shield to protect the car when it's parked and I'm working, but I can't even use that now because it sticks to the dash which is really melted, shiny and very sticky. It looks a lot like liquid bitumen. Does anyone else, other than above, have this problem? There is a video on the internet which shows that Toyota in the US is replacing the dashboards. I notified Toyota of the problem some months ago, and informed them that I had almost had an accident. Very disappointed because this is my fourth Toyota, and I feel let down by the attitude. Not getting much of an #ohwhatafeelingtoyota. That's for sure.......
