  1. Sportivo = built in south africa ( poor build quality) Listed problems

    read this - Sportivo Issues

Levin = built in Japan (better build quality) Easy parts. Lots of 1ZZ engines in wreckers. Strong reliable engine.

I wouldnt exactly blame SA for the poor build quality  ... its a badly designed box. As is evident from the problems the guys in Japan experience on the Lexus ... which has the same box. (from a BM video)

Same with the C-One RunX. B)

But overall its a good car, reliable, fast, and fun. :D

  2. You can file a customer complaint to the Australian Post Office and they try find it for you. Request the shop to give you a Post Office receipt, and put that together with the complaint. If the seller can't even give you a Post Office receipt, then you can fight with them.

    Thanks guy :D

The dealer already did all the form filling out, etc. He said he was also willing to mail me a receipt for the mail. I will send him one last e-mail to see what he says. I am at that point now where I am almost ready to write the money off anyways.

    Thanks for the help guyz.

  3. I'm from South Africa as well, and mate, your parcel probably got lost in the South African post office. The way they handle the parcels there is just beyond bad... things get lost very often, and then it's impossible to trace when it does.

I had it sent to an addie in AUS ... one of my companies customers. Parcel never arrived there.

The parcel sent from Australia can probably be traced up to the point before it leaves Australia, but after that, it will be hard.

The post office reckons theres no way of tracking it as it was sent as normal post

  4. The best that aus post can do is compensate you for a maxium of "$50" frikken tight ****s!!!!but here's the worst part it is not paid to you it is paid to the person who sent the parcel then you have to chase them for a measly $50 the item i purchased was worth $250!!!!!(i have lost faith in E-BAY)!!!!     :(  :(  :(

I must say that at least I have had good experiences with E-Bay ... touch wood B)

I am actually at that point where I will prob just write the money off, but I mean ... it wasnt a whole lot of bucks, but it just makes you wary of these internet purchases.

  5. Guys ... some advice required from the guys in AUS for me down in South Africa.

I purchased something from an aftermarket dealer in Aus.

Payed for the goods into their bank account.

My friend was in AUS at the time, so I had this dealer mail the item to where he was going to be. The goods never arrived. I am in contact with the other people at this address ... and they confirmed that the goods never arrived.

This dealer has proof that he sent the parcel away, but the post office cannot confirm delivery.

This has been going on for almost 6 months now.

While I agree that the post office may be at fault. Should the dealer not take some responsibility for not insuring the parcel ??

Your thoughts guys / girls ... do I write the money off as a deal gone bad <_< or do I bug the crap out of this dealer till he produces a refund

  6. My 2cents worth guys. - From South Africa

I actually think they purposely did it cause the pre-facelift had a bad reputation of not delivering claimed power. I know two guys which have the new spec, there cars are very similar to the pre-facelift model which had the ECU upgrade and airbox change (like my one). THe one guy had a pre-facelift and now bought a face-lift, he has done some mileage and he feels the car is very similar ... if not the same.

It peevs me to no end when these articles talk about how the power has improved so dramatically ... yeah right

  7. I have a set of Eibach spirng in my Rolla. I would highly reccomend it ... the drive is close to standard. Very nice. I just dont understand why its so expensive in AUS. In South Africa it about R2000 .. thats about 400 AUS $.

  8. when u're in bangkok(no jokes, please :P), it's near MBK just a few street behind the famous MBK shopping centre, tell the taxi driver that you are going to Car Mart MBK. repeat, it's not IN the shopping centre itself.

The place is called "Car Boutique" if were talking about the same place. Loads of wheels and other shops close by.

I looked in KL and Bangkok, like you said, plenty of generic stuff available but nothing specific for our cars :( But their Volk lookalike are the best B)

If you're going to shop around in KL, be prepared to drive @ least an hour out of town to get somewhere. We went to this place called "N1 Racing" ... had loads of cool stuff, but again nothing for our car specifically. But turbos, brakes, gauges the works !! In the road where N1 racing is, there are loads of other car accessory shops ... give it a search on the NET.

    but enjoy ... I know I did B)

  9. hey guys,

looks like everyone likes the new gt4!

hope u can help me with a few queries...

i know the point of gt4 is to provide a "realistic" driving simulation so i dont wanna start an argument over anything, but can u gimme an honest opinion on whether the driving experience still seems "slow" similar to gt3, or have they somehow made it more exciting?

also, in terms of difficulty do they still make u race 10 or 15 laps when u go on hard? (please say no :P)

    thanks guys!

I think you get the best feel for the speed when U use the bumper cam ... I love the game ... but I hate the way the screen shakes when U knock something !!

  10. OK IMEK, when will you realise that the CTS and the Stivo are built DIFFERENTLY...

We do not have traction control

The Lift cam does not engage with the clutch in hence the limiter cuts in at 6200 for us

there are 100s of us on the forum here from Australia and South Africa where these cars are sold and just one of you from Poland with the European car built to different specifications. Which do you think we are going to believe and listen too...

I must agree that wheel spin is exessive as I have tried this. But ... in SA if you flat rev the car at stand still it does go to 7000RPM.

Just my 2 cents ... I have not mastered the launch at all, but I normally launch at about 4000-5000. For me ... if you launch at 3500, my car just bogs or you get axle tramp.

  11. I have noticed many occasions of people wanting instructions on how to remove the console in their Sportivo's/Corolla's for installing of new Head Units, so I have taken some shots of how to do it....

    Step 1:

Look At Console (this takes at least one beer :))

    post-421-1109630128_thumb.jpg

    Step 2:

    Look At Ashtray

    post-421-1109630255_thumb.jpg

    Step 3:

    Grasp Ashtray

    post-421-1109630358_thumb.jpg

    Step 4:

    Remove Ashtray

    post-421-1109630687_thumb.jpg

    Step 5:

    Grap insert around Gear Stick

    post-421-1109630960_thumb.jpg

    Step 6:

Remove this panel by lifting up the reaer of it (closest to the cupholders) and tilt forward.  Then remove the front clip section of this panel.

    post-421-1109631626_thumb.jpg

    Step 7:

Grasp Air-Con vents on either side of the head unit.  Pull the whole surrounding vent out.

NB:  The first time you do this, it may be a little tight so be gentle, but use gentle force.

    post-421-1109631891_thumb.jpg

    post-421-1109632043_thumb.jpg

    Step 8:

Assess where your at and have another stubby. (B)

    post-421-1109632122_thumb.jpg

    Step 9:

Remove centre console.  To do this, iopen the little trap door and hold with one hand, and lever out.  Use your other hand to assist with the removal of the top of this console panel.

    post-421-1109632184_thumb.jpg

    post-421-1109632253_thumb.jpg

    Step 10:

If required, unplug the three plugs from behind this panel.  They are 3 separate sized plugs so you can't stuff up the removal and reconnection.

NB: When unplugging these plugs, you will be resetting any clock and Climate Control settings.

    post-421-1109632332_thumb.jpg

    Step 11:

Locate the four screws underneath the Head Unit which hold it in place.  There should be 4 holding the bracket in place.  Be careful with when removing these screws, cause they can (and will) fall down the cracks into the ether and are a mongrel to find and retrieve.

The Head Unit is actually attached to the bracket and you will need to remove this bracket first.

    post-421-1109632409_thumb.jpg

    Step 12:

Using a 10mm socket, remove these four screws.  When removed, pull the Head Unit forward.

When the Head Unit is forward, there are three plugs un the rear of it as well as the aerial connection.  Remove these plugs and remove the head unit.

NB:  Removal of these plugs will reset all radio presets.  When you reconnect these plugs, you will hear the CD changer going nuts re-assessing the discs that are loaded in it (if you are re-installing the same Head Unit).

    post-421-1109633324_thumb.jpg

    Step 13:

When re-installing this bracket, a trick I use on the socket to keep the screws in place, is to place a small square of electrical tape over the end of the screw.

    post-421-1109633449_thumb.jpg

    post-421-1109633515_thumb.jpg

    Step 14:

Re-install all panels in the reverse order to when you removed them.

NB:  When reinstalling the airvents around the Head Unit, there are a couple of little clips that are on the vent itself as well as the Head Unit Bracket.  You'll need to make sure that you install these correctly, otherwise the dash will look like it has been propped up.

The picture is not too clear, but I have tried to show how to do it.  The clip on the vent needs to go UNDER the clip on the bracket.

    post-421-1109633669_thumb.jpg

    Hope all goes well.

    Cheers

    Aaron

  13. Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone could help me out. I just picked up my new 05 Corolla Sportivo and i was just wondering if anyone would know how to take the cd player out? Are there instructions on how to do this anywhere?

  14. good old "Slow Africa" the chances are slim to none that it will happen !!  :(

You should be shot for that comment

What happened to being "Proudly South African"?

Hey Quick ... its got nothing to do with being "Proudly South African" ... its about being dissapointed that we dont get these sort of performance models. I hear what you say about the big picture ... reality of the situation is that there is probably no chance we will get the model.

I did read somewhere that we would be offered the "Supercharger" parts as some sort of upgrade kit (read in a car mag) ... but after chatting to some local Toyota dealers, even that doesn't seem like it wil happen. Now that just flat out sucks

  15. Melbourne Motor Show

    Toyota Corolla Sportivo Stand

    http://www.motorshow.com.au

I will be attending this years Melbourne Motor Show.  I will also print out all relevant documentation for the Toyota Corolla Sportivo Compressor.  I will foward this to the stand and ask them to consider.  Especially that some Toyota heavyweights do appear from time to time at these shows.

Good luck ... but with the cars being made here in good old "Slow Africa" the chances are slim to none that it will happen !! :(
