  1. Have you actually taken the car back to your dealer for it to be looked at? Doesn't sound like it by your post.

Sounds like you have just had an issue, then got rant rant at TMCA.

Try talking to your dealer first in a calm rational manner. If it is something that can be fixed, then you will find that by taking out a newspaper ad, you will be sued for slander.

My 04 Corolla had a speedo around 11km/h out through from 40 km/h onwards.....Toyota service agent fixed it the day I took it to them.

If this was potentially an issue that was going to affect nearly all vehicles from 05 onwards, I think this would have been a bigger issue by now, especially since this particular Toyota forum hears of all this sort of this thing pretty quick....

I'd call your local dealer in the morning, and ask them rationally to look into it...you might be surprised

  2. im with AAMI, so yeh I think it is a rad error, so i am not going to tell them :P

I would be reading their T&C's as id be willing to bet that an insurance company would have a clause against this sort of thing where they can charge you the diff when and if they like...

Agreed, they will all have a clause that states that they have the right to void the insurance at anytime they see fit.

THing you have to remember with insurance companies is that they are profit making businesses that are not their with the size businesses they have because they pay out willy nilly. The whole directive of an insurance company is for them to find a way to take your money up front then not pay out later....(I know this from first hand experience as well as being married to a woman that has spent the last 8 years of her life contracting to insurance companies to find ways for them to NOT pay....)

My suggestion dude, is to call them and speak with them. If they say that it is correct pricing (remember too it may be, if you have been with them for a while and they are now rewarding you for good history with them) then ask for them to send you a letter advising the it is correct. The reason for this is that if you need to make a claim and they say the policy is invalid as the correct premium was not charged, you can then challenge them on the grounds that you made contact to confirm and was told that it was correct and had this re-validated in writing.

Having to documents from them indicating the same price as correct will assist you down the track should they try and void the policy based on an invalid premium. You are them able to argue that you made the attempt to have the issue rectified in the first instance and was told that it was correct. The chances of them screwing up a calculation like that twice is pretty rare, so in my opinion, make the call.....

    Hope this helps...

  3. My ***! No NEw modles In 08 HowBad Is that.

Well i dont really car couse im getting a O8 Modle Kluger Grande AWD Sand Beige Interior and Ebony Exterior !

    B) :yahoo:

Yes, after spending 2 days at 2 dealerships in Brisbane, the end for me was correct, no NEW models for 08 however existing models will still be manufactered.

    So I ordered an 08 Rav4

  4. I know I have come in on this late, but I have only just come to the Rav4 part of the forum now as I am about to buy one...

As far as headlights go, the first thing I will be checking is what bulbs will go into the 2008 Rav4, and ordering the Philips Crystal Visions from a mate of mine that sells them through an Auto Electrician's workshop he works at (yes, he's an Auto Electrician)

He put them into his Ford Territory and his Mazda Bravo, then hooked me up with some for my Corolla. They are awesome. Even my wife who normally wouldn't even know if the headlights weren't on, actually commented about how much better they are.

I am hopefully taking delivery of the Rav in around 3 weeks. As soon as I get it, the first thing I will do when I come home is call John and ask him to order me some more.....

If anyone is interested and are in the Brissy area, call Comet Batteries at Geebung, as for John....tell him Azz recommended you....

  5. Wouldn't surprise me. It is actually against the law to be doing more than 10% less than the prescribed speed limit without a valid reason. Reasons of 'the car can't do the speed limit' or 'there is a fault with my car' are usually dismissed as not plausable and end up getting you a fine for non-roadworthyness. THe only valid excuses really accepted are congestion, bad conditions (fog, rain, hail etc) or unusual distractions such as large numebrs of people on the footpath (such as leaving the Gabba after the cricket/footy).

I know in Melb for a while, there were some trials of this, but the uproar of faulty cameras in Melbourne stopped them.

If you ask me, nothing shi7s me more than not being able to do the speed limit. If it is a 60 zone, then do 60 for pete's sake...

  6. Please remember too that

    a) generally in the UK, the average weekly milage done is WAY less than that of an Aussie Driver

    B) More people in the UK take public transport/ride/walk to work or other destinations than Aussies

    c) Public Transport in London works and is relatively affordable (come try public transport in Brisbane)

Not saying that our petrol prices aren't worth whinging about or anything, but there are many factors involved, and my grip is that when US West Texan Crude goes up, our petrol prices go up, even though the fuel we get in Australia has nothing to do with US oil and our prices are based on SIngapore markets.

At the end of the day, it is a necessary evil and drivers winging about it will never fix it.... covnert to vege oil I say

  7. Go to Bunning/Hardwarehouse or any other large hardware store and get the 3M Double Sided Tape. It's aabout 7$ a roll and is clear and is awesome.

I did mine with it 2 years ago, and in the Queensland Sun, with 2 trips to Sydney and many other long highway runs, I have never had any trouble with it, other than it sticking to my scissors when I was cutting it.
