I was wondering if it was possible to use the Forward Recognition Camera as a Dash Cam.

No one has commercially built the mod at this point in time but it would be the perfect companion for my aftermarket Android head unit which has the capacity to run a dashcam in the background.

For smart electro tech heads, I can give a link to the CHR wiring Diagrams if someone wants to build a plug and play connector cable.

I have no interest in cutting cables and would expect the solution to use a piggyback connector or Y connectors.

I use 98... I never use anything less.

Where did you tap into the power?

I have always been concerned about buildup over time and the potential for yellowing or some other form of hazing making it difficult to see through.

This week I am having the dealer fit the Genuine Koba Tow Bar Wiring Harness, but no tow bar.

These are running lights and brake lights and I am not sure if it is legal to have them come on with the other running lights in WA, but they are Brake lights as well.

Now if there was a blinker/brake/running light replacement I would be tempted to buy and install those since I will have blinker wiring on tap going to waste.

That was why they did it... Too many people putting things into the space and causing issues.

That is the difference between the original design team and the follow-up hazard removal team. I expect that the original design team considered the design from a human factors perspective and ease of removal for racing as opposed to the engineering risk of someone placing items in the hole rendering the brake switch ineffective. We live in a world where the lowest common denominator has to be factored in at all levels.

My car didn't have the cover until it went in for the recall for the computer system.

My car is booked in for Friday. The dealer stated 2 updates, both software.

Went to my online Dashboard:

Could be the GPS antenna has dislodged. I think Chitty mentioned that when he pulled his head unit out the GPS antenna was hanging loose.

Only one recall so far... No bad for a new model on a new chassis.

Waiting for my letter.

Finally, the guts to go with the looks...

Now I need a parts list and a very big bank overdraft...

I updated the Startup Logo on my unit to a modified C-HR Club Logo of 1024 x 600 pixels.

I repurposed the speak button as a mute button. Other than that all buttons retained their original functionality. If I can find a way to use the speak button for "OK Google" I would be extatic.

Total install time was less than an hour.

I gave up waiting for the depinning tool and made one.

I rewired the plug and plugged everything in.

I now have the unit securely installed in the car with everything working.  

Speakers sound pretty good in my car. I tweaked the sound with the equaliser. I'm in the process of replacing the head unit anyway and the new unit with the old speakers are pretty good.

My next project arrived in the post in September and I have been sitting on them while I consider how to do the wiring.

I contacted Toyota today and asked for a quote on the towing wiring kit without a towbar. Mark rang me back and asked what I would be doing for a tow bar, I told him that at 600kg it was not worth towing anything, however, the wiring kit would be perfect for installing some LED's in the rear. He seemed cool with that and quoted me $178 plus labour to fit.

This seems a reasonable price to me for a harness that comes all the way from under the dash through the inside of the passenger side sill and out through to the back. A lot less effort than making up a cable from scratch or buying an after-market kit that needs to be scotch-clipped into existing wiring. The warranty is also a bonus.
