  1. Hey Guys, member from way back but havn't ben around much in ages.

As the tital says, I wanna install my S/C and most likely can use some help if there is any around. Seems Auscam is dead and most of the members I used to know are pretty inactive here so thought i'd try posting a thread. Did some digging but couldn't find much of use for rhd models so if anyones got some decent info or any of my old buds see this any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks guys

  2. Well yeah but depends on the engine, apparently the V6 like the LPG if done right.

I'll have to dig for the thread so maybe the OP can ask the people who have done it for tips and tricks.

  3. Iv'e actually heard otherwise :P

A few months ago I would have agreed, but recently Iv'e found 1 person running LPG on a Supercharged V6 with exceptional results and another running LPG NA with great results as well.

I guess it's who ya know when it comes to LPG and Camry's.

  4. That's if we even get it lol.

Remember we got stitched on the Gen3 and Gen5 so far on upgraded engines so we'll see.

all this info is coming from overseas so hopefully Aus will get something this time.

  5. The first pic looks nice, I'm guessing that's the hybrid that AU prolly wont get :(

Other than that they look pretty much the same as the current Gen6, which imo isn't all that nice, although I don't mind the Sportivo's lol.

  6. If your just going for looks mainly there's a few things that are a must lol.

Some nice wheels, lower it, depo clear headlights (Ebay US)..also have a blacked out version, Depo red and clear tail lights...ect.

Check out Toyota Nation for some very nice examples :)

Also if you do a search there one member did a custom flip top trunk for next to nothing :P

  7. OK

so I got all the wiring issues sorted etc

    cars getting serviced this week.

    Now here comes the fun.

I'm looking at getting some cheap handling (tyres/suspension setup) upgrades on the cheap. Had a look into rear swaybars, and they seem like a great 'bang-for-buck' upgrade, and would help with the safety factor aswell since this will be my daily driver car once uni kicks in. Might see if there are any aftermarket ones that would suit. Any ideas on brands etc, or if I would have to get a custom-made one.

Looks like a pretty good cheap handling upgrade.

Any other recommendations on similar upgrades?

Whiteline for the rear sway bar, not too expensive either.

Other than that KYB struts (good quality, stiff and not too exy) with some King Low's/Superlows...depending on preffered height and Fulcrum poly bushings will give you a sweet handling ride.

As for tyres I would highly reccomend Firenza, great price ,decent quality with a mid compound so good for wet and dry and the real bonus is they have an awesome lifespan .

They handle great although not quite as sticky as the Toyo's or Yoko's Iv'e had but still awesome for grip and being that they've already lasted me longer than any other performance tyres Iv'e had I'm more than happy with them :D

  8. The Venza is pretty much classed as a cross over vehicle even thought Toyota don't want to admit it.

As in it's an in between of an SUV and a wagon ect.

I seriously doubt that it will make it to Aus but even if it did it would more than likely be on the FF that made it here :(

Every Camry since the Gen2 has had an Alltrac option in other countries but never here, why would they start now lol

  9. With the experience I've had with my gen4 I can honestly say this is not going to be as easy as it should.

My Gen4 was not pre-wired to take anything that didn't come with it...everything I've installed of higher trim models has had to be custom wired in,even something as simple as the in dash clock.

In the US this is a different story as they are all pre wired for all options, but I would assume an Aus Gen5 would be much the same as mine as we are not so lucky :(

  10. If the factory immobiliser isn't enough to give you peace of mind there's a few options you could go with.

Maybe just pull the battery (and fuses) :P, or you can buy a coded immobiliser for the fuel pump, (saw a Gen4 with one just yesterday), disconnect the ignition wiring, remove the fuel line to injector rail (1 nut) ect.

It's not that hard to make a car not be able to start :P

Why do you need it to be immobilised??

  11. Yes that's the RMM gen3 front lip.

Best bet to find one would be to hit up their website itself, or I'm pretty sure a few of the US boys have conections to get them at a decent price over at TN.

Only problem with it is it's only a front lip..as nice as it is, but the bonus is shipping one lip from the states can't cost too much depending on who you deal with so it may just work.

  12. What gearbox are you using???????

The E153 that comes with the 3SGTE should be able to withstand 400whp+ without any modifications.

i think his camry is fwd, though. the e153 box would fit perfectly, but its set up for awd.

not familiar with awd systems, but can you just leave the connections for the rear wheels free-spinning and bias the power towards the front?

    meh...

i thought the 5 sp. gearbox that came with the 5s-fe could withstand a fair bit of torque, considering they're popular with commodore auto-manual conversions.

The E153 is actually the V6 Camry / MR2 Gearbox (which is good for 400hp) :P

  13. Gen4.5 lights wont fit!!!! So forget about them, they are larger than the Gen4 and would need custom body work for the install, plus IMO (and most others I've asked lol) the Gen4 lights are a nicer design anyway with the exception of the fact that Gen4.5 lights are made of nicer plastics :P

Even if they fit, you would need to buy all 4 rear lights to make it match up...this also applys to just buying 2 new Gen4 corner lights.

Also I seem to remember from Camcrew that you would be selling the Gen4 shortly anyway so there would be little point in doing anything but just replacing the broken light from a wrecker if that's the case.

But if your set on the red and clears like I have there's a few things you need to know :

    1. They are technically illeagle for onroad use in Australia, I havn't had an issue with that but still it applys.

2.NONE of the rear wiring will plug into them without custom work....ie you have to buy an US spec rear tailight harness and mongrell it into the Aussie one...Fun Fun

3.They will stick out like a sore thumb unless you also buy US spec boot lights, the reason being that the US used a different backing plastic to the assembly and also the tinted lines on the outer edge of the tailights is darker...aside from the fact that your boot lights are well faded and would be duller.

Sorry for the long reply but I had to cause I'm tryin to help :P
