  1. Well it got it closed and its been shut for two years...wow. time to get this matter sorted...

    So need a new motor...

    part # 63260-02020 (sept02 -April03 ) or 63260-12110 (May 03 -March04)

Toyota /Parts quote me $1,153 for genuine new unit 2-3 weeks out of Japan

Whilst online from the UAE is $248 (for genuine new unit 3-6 weeks)

or Japan $500. (for genuine new unit 2-3 weeks)

Sent some enquiries out to wreckers / parts suppliers but no reponse yet.

Any guidance as to where I could find one2nd hand locally (that WORKS reliably of course) ?!?!

    cheers for any help...

  2. I'd say awesome story, but its not quite pleasant when in that situation as I have been myself twice over thhe last year...

in both times I had my 4 year old son in the car.

first time a bogan in a SS commodore took offence to the car behind him driving to close (as bogan was driving about 40 in a 60 zone), bogan took opportunity when single lanes become double to pull along side and abuse the other driver (who then took a side road)... As i past him i glanced over to which he also took offence and then began shouting at me and then began (as lights turned green) dumping his clutch and "drifting" his commodore over into my lane , and actually pulled ahead half a cars length and then swerved into my lane... in (I assume) an attemp tto cause me panic and maybe drive off road...

Police advise cannot do anything without evidence...

I december of 2009, heading north I took a right hand turn (east) at large roundabout... Nissan patrol driver heading south attempted to pull out at speed in front of me at which I honked (whilst being forced by his failing right of way to basically perform a U-turn on roandbout to avoid him...). He skiided to stop abusing and waving his arms at me, and followed me off roundabout...my son ws crying by thhis point so i left the road... other driver pulled and ran to my window and punched me in the face (im in my car with belt on mind you). we shouted at ewach other he returned to his car, I got out took photo of him and his passengers who by now were at the back side of my car near sons window (with beers in hand). I took all their photos annd same of his car. I had bloody face, photos and crying son. None of the rush hour traffic stopped to offer assistance.

I drove straight to police. filed report had photos taken.

several weeks later, they advised he was later caught up with and his passengers and him (backing up each others stories), that I attacked him and he punched me in defence. Police claim this means they wouldnt be able to push the matter with a judge so they dropped persuing Tp with charges.

They also advises TP (sorry business talk or third party/other ddriver) is known to him as are his family (his sons were his passengers), and wheen they attennded his semi-rural home (and sight of his hydroponics company) the family surrounded thhe officers and they were considerin gcalling for back up, they strongly advised me to not persue TP or take private action due to his background and history.

anyway.. with your case GET a police report # ASAP, get his name, adddress, and rego, and lodge a insurance claim annd get your XS waived.

  3. Problem fixed, as far as its now closed... but not operational , which i can totally live with at the mo. ..and all done within my lunch hour!

I called the ONLY sunroof guy in Yellowpages showing for Brisbane... he came out to my place of work within 5 minutes as was luckily nearby, and loosened off the adjusting bolts and closed it... (why didn't I just do that I don't know)...but anyway he confirmed factory sunroof and that Toyota were kind enough to put adjusting marks on the mechanism for maintenance and refit purposes... then tested switches and motor... motor worked after being "tapped" with blunt end of srewdriver, said could be microswitches/relays in it or the motor itself...either way cheaper to replace whole thing...

Nice bloke and gave me bank account info for the very reasonable payment ~! :P I am extremely appreciative to find a trusting tradesmen of this kind! he explained everything and I watched carefully how it operates and removes/rfit etc.

Just gotta keep eye open for good motor now... :D

  4. Rained pretty hard this morning :(

have taken switches off and pulled headliner down a few inches yet no sign of any manual winding mechanism... :(

only seems the motor for actually sliding it in and out of the roof , no idea what i should be looking for for the tilt up/down function where its currently stuck.

Any ide what that mechanism would look like !?

Any one think applying direct power to the terminals visible on the sunroof motor cause any issues, if i was to try bypasss switches and check operation directly from battery ?

  5. tried lookign for answers in th eforum, not much to go on... :(

... 2003 Levin,,, sunroof , ie slides into roof, with colour coded trim etc... and moonroof tilt up function.

Ok so i ws using it every day, :P either fully open or just tilted up ...then in Agust 09 or so it wouldnt budge on the first switch or so, then would opeate as normal...

eventually it just wouldn't move at all despite "most of the time" hearing a audible click in the switches...

I've taken switches apart and alls clean and dry and connections look good.

put it got stuck opne once and I managed to pull it forward an inch thhen it closed upon activating switch...

Now i've got it stuck tilted up ! it clicks at switch, no action with engine on, or just in auxilery, tried with radio, interior lights, and fan on and off with no change either ( i blew the fuse once noticed all on same fuse).

    Any ideas ?

what to look for and how to check / fix ?

how can i find the model of the thing too ?

    thanks for any help dudes.

  6. that centre dial (controls fan speed) should easily come out by pulling it.

Sweet, read your post last night ! Tried as soon as got in car 5 hours later ! Man that dial was a firm fit (nod to Toyota build quality etc ;) ). But gave it a firm direct tug and it came off exposing the screw !

If Ok, when I do my CD player swap to DVD player and screen i'll take a photo of the exposed screw for 1ZZ referance if deemed helpful/suitable.

    Thanks again dudes.

  7. i add that with 1zz's without climate control you pull the center dial/switch out and there is a single screw behind it. undo that then you can continue.

I'm having issues getting center console out. (03 `Levin). Everything else loose / removed but center console (A/C, clock, etc) refuses to budge, bottom and top pop out but center suggests held back. ...now .you mention a screw behind the center dial ? meaning the center A/C dial ? cause i cannot for the life of me get even that off!!! hints or suggestions ? thanks in advance....

  8. i've a K&N panel filter, though i've just removed everything after it,,,, sounds similar. :) no resonator noise suppression box thing,,, which must do a good job t what it does..., might put cold air feed into front bumper though. so how that changes it....

  9. with the recent storms in Brissie, i now have condensation in my right drivers side head lamp. would the above methos (lamp in overn and seperating ) bea good way to fix, nay, the only way ? thinking i could blackout the rest as above whilst there ?! also are there other prducts i could put use to seal it back up again once clear of moisture !?

EDIT - ok , i see i should be able to draw out moisture leaving eht light sockets out the back givingit somewhere to evaporate out from ...hopes that works.. dotn tink my wife would be keen on molten head laamp in bottom of oven.... does the headlamp bolt straight off, or does bumper need removal ?!

  10. Surely it'd be a case of swapping nut and bolt to a suitable sized quick release mech?! any one using a rear strut brace ? recommend a brand..!?

Let us know how car feels after these are fitted doriae86. Im considering doing some suspension upgrade myself soon... trying to decise or establish what will provide better handling rear sway or strut also with or without front strut brace etc. car a rear sway bar be swapped DIY style ? rather do it myself...

  11. probably not much use considerin gi can't find the link or webpage anymore, but i stumbled across rear strut braces that had what i can only desribe as "quick release"mechanism, ie a bike wheel hub or seat post. which was attached at each end to allow removal when requiring all the boot space. Although I can't help but think this may not be as 'stiffening" of the chassis as a permanently fixed brace...

  12. Rather than start a new thread i thought i'd ask away here.

I'm looking at getting a pair of the black real tail lights off Ebay. One pair note the socket is a single row of six.

Now my Levin has the double row. So few questions...

Assuming the one i do get are the single row when wiring, the loom attached to car itself, what are the wires as to their function? ie whats reverse, what brake, and what are their earths etc. otherwise can someone point me towards an answer !?

    thanks guys...

yes.. i searched and couldnt find an answer, and i'm yet to be succesful downlodding a working service manual

  13. I think a deisel corolla would go down well over here.

my dads got a Pug 307 2L turbo deisel. Chipped, with chrome wheels, "altezza" style lights, retrimmed leather interior.

Handles great as standard. pulls amazingly think its about 370nm ? maybe Im wrong but seems right... looking under it for a screw the other day I noticed its driveshafts too ...thick as a elephants schlong!

Maybe a tough upgrade would be driveshafts from the euro deisel corolla onto F/I modified Aussie corollas. I imagine the gearbox certainly would have different gear ratios though....

On topic. I'm now considering some of those black tail lights they look schmick in the "gEneric auction site" posts. :)

  14. I pay little less than that on my 03 Levin, and thats with a 25% staff discount through RACQ. For market value, with tinting, lowered, sunroof, and rental car. No traffic offences, no criminal history and no insurances claims, or at fault accidents, me (30yrs old) as the ONLY driver... think I save 20/25% with discounts on my Ultra road side service and biulding annd contents insurance discounts too :) think I pay under $500 a year for the car all up after discounts. yay me.
