  1. I usually use Caltex Vortex or Vortex98 if the station stocks it, depends on proice too, use to always be V98 (or VPower if what was there). Mostly cause I worked at a Caltex casual when I save for our hosue deposit and I would be able to then check for consistant results, plus just conveniant.

Get over 600 klms easy from every tank. most I got was about 670+. ThoughI just fill up once a week now so usually by about 350-450 klms.

  2. hopefully not a stupid question here guys. Regarding CAIs. if I was to go to the effort, not expecting big power gains of course, though if I should replace the standard feed behind the headlight with something into the lower section of front bumper can/would I expect to get the "induction" sound from a flexible hose into here? Or would a solid pipework result in better "sound" (resonance) , ie your aluminium/steel pipe work?!?

I was contemplating making a fitment in fibreglass into the lower bumper of a solid thicker construction expecting more results (sound) compared to a flexible pipe. ideas? comments? surely solid contruction will sound better than a flexible pipe?

  3. Mines a 2002/3 Levin purchased 2007 nov with about 145K klms. not spent anythi gon it other than maintenance of course.

compared to my last car a 1993 RVR with 200K on the clock which cost me just under $8000 in repairs and maintenance in the 18 months I had it ..well im absolutely impressed by the Corolla. Only problem is due to the last owner or installer of the CD player as now the fascia around the cd player and airvents there refuses to pop entirely backinto the dash.

oh also under light braking they feel a little , odd, considering the kilometres its probably pads or worn/warped slightly rotors. But under emergency braking the 6 year old ABS and EBD are awesome in the few times I've had to brake hard.

    10/10 !!

  4. "

    get the lenso type-m

they look pretty hot on white or black corollas

    "

I agree they are my choice , should I ever have the finances to throw away on different rims...

My brother had 18" Koya's on his 2000/1 TypeR (the last good ones not the rebadged TypeS's we got here).

He was v.happy with them, can't say where he got them up here in Brissie but tyresplus does sounds familiar.

  5. Hi guys. I've now downsload the 500+ Mb file, and only get out of the .rar file three single pages of corolla manual, only two of which work and are also only indexes. none of the hyperlinks take me to other pages...

Any idea whats up with it, I installed Adobe Acrobat reader 8.* the latest one... surely any acrobat reader after 6 would work...

Any ideas? if someones willing to post me aworking manual on Cd/dvd I'll check ten dollars into your account once it arrives for you rtime, costs and postage !??!

  6. Visually (for me anyway) it draws the roof line down a bit so windscreen isn't so huge. But it does help keep the intensity out of the sun when driving in morning or evening. Initially I bought a strip from SuperCrap for about $15. but the film is SO fidly, I had it cut roughly to size and window cleaned, detergent solution mixed and sprayed, was just about to apply when it started raining, not wanting the door trims to get damp and moisture into the power windows I decided to try and do it with the doors closed, of course it started fogging up, so I turned on the air.... big mistake, teeeeny little breeze and the tinit film, folded over itself and stuck instantly....

"tinted windows would also look darker if your interior trim was of a dark colour aswell" (Yuro).

Very true. Levin interior is dark apart from the roof and pillars. the sun roofs tinted too. ;)

I've used Tint-a-car for all my previous cars but mainly for convenience and consistent results from car to car. Though don't get me wrong theres many others out there that significantly cheaper, but of course cannot speak of the results. Pretty sure if a dealers offering to get it done for you they are bringing in a mobile contractor anyway. Maybe try and establish who the car dealers use and contact the contractor yourself and save on the mark up...

if your in brisbane and want it done for much cheaper, PM me and i'll point you towards somewhere you may be able to get a decent price, but cannot at all vouch for the quaility or finished product of course...

  7. My Levin has the same effect minus the CAi though, just a K&N panel at the mo'. I can only guess, if this makes sense, its the VVTi adjusting for "higher", (more spirited driving ) revs ? maybe the programing puts a step in there ad majority of working revs, idle and cruising don't call for such a step ? ...

  8. c'mon give him a break. <_<

Whilst modern CATs flow extremely well and are required for legal reasons and for correct engine management , many people believe they are still better off being removed for performance reasons. Despite this I think you've been treated abit roughly

    nice pic ! B)

  9. These "gas saver" or power increasing devices, etc. -are pretty much all cheap nasty things that makes various claims based on statistics that could be effected one way by your driving style or purely imagined. I mean the gains they claim to provide are usually that minimal you likely wouldnt get much noticable differance that couldnt be explained away with , your driving style, the fuel quality/age/type, the weather, etc etc, etc.

  10. Ok, so in the back of my coin cupboard (ashtray) I have, what I assume every corolla owner has, is a green plastic window and what appears to be a LED situated behind it in the dash. It doesnt appear to be activated by the headlights being on or off, I was wondering if this is standard for all aussie delivered Corollas?

My two previous cars, 1994 mitsi RVR, and prior a 1986 Honda City Turbo2, bith also had this same light ,being a LED attached inside the "ashtray", though each had the wires snipped close up to the LED and the rest of the wiring removed :( I could only assume at the time something to do with when the private imported cars go through the compliance process ? ;)

Any ideas or info on this? It seems a bit strange they wouldnt have it connected up for a aussie delivered cars and still keep the fitments there.

Unless its not a LED, but some kind of smoke/fire/heat sensor alarm?

    cheers Simon.

  11. Out of interest... whilst browing the C-one site for parts I cannot afford or justifiably make use of I notice they seem to list the gear set for the (what I assume) is the Sportivo which seems to be compatable/exchangable with the new corolla 6 spd. Was new 6 spd developed/progressed from the Sportivo gearbox? Or am I totally misinterpreting the parts listings here?
