  1. ...where do they go once they pass under the fuse box and behind the left side headlight ?

Do we have any photos of where they go from there, ie into the front bumper ? might experiment with altering the stock box on my levin, with something similar. Though benefits will indeed by ledigble. :/

  2. I've a 2002/3 Levin with only a lock to the drivers door and boot. the key I got withthe car when I purchased it second hand, one key only has no buttons on it and am unsure if Levin would have remote central locking etc.

A comment above somewhere suggested all conquest, Levins and Sportivos have central remote locking? Can this be confirmed by anyone here or can you refer me to the location of the unit inthe car somewhere?

Also to get myself a remote locking key, is this gonna be in the $2500 mark? or cost of key, cut and code for immobiliser!?

Toyota quoted $100 ish for the key and code for immob. ... would like central remote lokcing though if can be done cheaply.

  3. searched for a while but didn't find what I was after.

I have a 2002/3 Levin with the standard 5 spoke alloys, wondering if any one has painted there stock wheels at all.

my Levin is black, with dark tinted windows, lowered, and I recently painted and mounted the eyelids I got.

I talked friend with bmw Mini cooper also all black anddark tinited, to paint his wheel, spent weekend rubbing them back and painted them matte black, looks schmick on the bmw cooper, though wondering what i'd look like on the Levin.

SO are there any pics out there of the stock wheels painted black, or maybe white? don't want to rub um back and paint to end up with a horror of a job on them...

  4. I've got the K&N panel filter on my 1ZZ-Levin. $140ish I think through Supercheap.

I replaced it at same time Ai did other filters, plugs, oil etc. so cant give accurate, though it does seem to be less restrictive, and more of a throaty induction noise. Can't comment on performance gains of course. but straight fit.

  5. Yeah, my eyelids costs like $35 off Ebay so Im not to fussed if I mess it up, would like it to not look messy of tacky though!

My parents neighbour restores Corvettes, might see if he can help out at all. My extent into spraypainting with cans is so far limited to brakes calipers (several sets) and my gold PC lol.

  6. I mounted the eyelids as they are in the first few with some double sided, took a few fro other angles you can see from the shadow the angle at which they taper away from the headlight itself.

Alos in one I used more tape to hold that corner down, Im fairly confident it will hold with the tape, though how long does it generally hold its grip , considering the qld sun etc.

Just need some help / ideas regarding the painting! post-5557-1207798515.jpg

  7. Cool, I'll take some pictures. Im concerned if I get them painted then attempt to mount them that these corners are continualll going to be popping off and poking out. <_<

Also regarding painting would anyone recommend painting them yourselves, ie. with hardware shop paints and primers etc !? Would this give an acceptable result?

  8. Two dif experiances ...used E10 ethanol stuff few years agao from shell in a datsun powered morris Minor the car literally started idling rough snd stalling wihtin 10 minutes., I had to clean out the carby and put a carby kit on it twicve in the folowing month.

though in my last car a 4G63 engined RVR, I used the V-Power Racing , 100octane and got what I bleibve wass better fuel economy and certainly some mild benefits with power, it felt more smooth and effortless across the rev range.

dont know long term effects on fuel systems though....

  9. Rather than start a new thread...

So I purchased some eyelids off that dude on Ebay... now does anyone know if this plastic (ABS?) is able to be reformed, ie in a mcorwave or oven by heating it? where the tips wrap around onto the wing edges of the lights the fit is poor and the end of the tips are just under a CM off fitting. Im not so confident that double sided tape is gonna hold them all in for a snug fit.

Any other methods of fitmet availble or advisable!?

    cheers dudes.

  10. yeah I get much better economy from better grade fuels though always scared to push it for fear of running to empty, the fuel price jumping and missin gthe weekly low, or sending silty mess to my injectors!

Any way about 600 a tank before I have to fill.

I do 70% Hwy kilometres too. Getting new tyres soon so hope after alignment and consistant tyre pressures and new compounf tyres to maybe get a little more distance from tank, but doubt would be noticable :)

  11. Gday, I work in motor insurance claims though Id post a FYI up.

Assuming you have fully comp motor policy worse is I can assume is that you excess would be payable if NRMA decide to go with Magna owners insurer and go with scenario that that he and you are some what each liable for the accident as each merging lanes (ie Each Bear Own ~ both reversing from opposite car spaces in a car park). In sthis case you each pay your excess and each insurer covers there own cost. He (insurer) would still pay for other cars repairs.

You may get driver excess applicable in future if nil ratinng one for life, unless they can prove or show TP fully at fault.

Interesting as each merging. Let us know if your excess gets fully waived.

...just to confirm hes merging at speed from second lane into third and you 4th lane merging into 3rd?

  12. Check out the New typeR civic vs the previous model Type R Civic (which we didnt get ) on TopGear driven by Jeremy Clarkson , its available on Youtude if you wanna find the extended review and drive other wise the topgear webpage has the clip available too...

Seems dissapointing drive compared to the previous TypeR (independant rear suspension, they note is the biggest problem of new model, being that it lacks having it. plus its heavier and bigger, and has ONE extra kilowatt).

Clarkson mentions the ride is unbearable in real world situatons too, way to harsh,,,,, i recommended looking for it its good viewing!

..Ive seen second hand ones of the previous shape beinng imprted as grey imports into Australia too now.

  13. I have the same problem, only got one key . . . well, actually I don't know if my 02 Levin had a keyless option?

Was it option or not or standard?

What should I be looking for in the engine bay, footwells, or under thhe dash to confirm yes or no it had the option?

was qquoted roughly by toyota all up $140 for a copy of the key I do have... but would like to get a keyless option if I can so cheaply. by cheaply I mean under $400 ??

    cheers on advice !

  14. Im a fan of those euro bodykits above, and the C-One kits.

Oh please avoid the "Veilside" copies like the plague... considering they were designed for, what Veilesides high speed salt flat racing Supra's, a large rwd turbo beast they look totally out of place on ANYTHING ELSE. I mean Ive seen them on Swift Gtis, Mazda 626 (the Forsd Telstar shape), and many other atrocities.

go with the euro or C-one similar style. a more compact urban racer style totally fits the Corolla and wont have a w@nk factor of 10+ <_<

  15. Only had my 02 Levin about two weeks and on my second tank... from 43 litres Ive first got 500 klm, which I work out to 8 litres per 100 Klm (any one car to adjust that for me)... that was on Vortex98 (I get staff discounts).

currently have tank of normal vortex (pulp-96oct), so will see how that goes , I also just changed the oil, oil filter, and plugs, so lets see how the lower octane but fresher oild and bits make any difference. Think Im driving less granny-ish this week to now Im used to the car a bit more. :spiteful:

considering my last car (93 RVR -n/a 4G63, 4wd) was returnign about 10L per 100klms at best Im pretty pleased (insurance is now 40% of the RVR for premium and excess YAY).

  16. looking through th owner manual they've nikko'd over the orignal owners details, despite being clearly visible through the ink!

and it was purchased ans serviced not 10 klms from where I'd lived since I was 10 years old (Vic Point, serviced Cleveland) and first came to Australia! haha then service hist moves to Morningside where I then lived for 3 years close by in Bulimba... and I purchased it in Springwood, whilst i now work at RACQ 10 min drive away! ...spooky! anyway I love it... gotta do a service soon though as oil filter looks kinda old itsedl and the oil looks worrying.

Reading the info on oils Im trying to decide between Castrol Edge or Mobil 1 / and the semi or fully Synth debate. its "higher" kilometre but unknown what oil was being used. Filter looks to be a genuine toyota item.

  17. suffered badly on thhe trade in. but assuming RACQ comes back rosey , this time tomorrow I'll have a 2002 Levin to call my own.

:yahoo: pretty pleased. though little cheesed at all the money gone that was "invested" into the RVR. <_<

yay LEVIN. Through looking at old write ups on net seems sunroof was a Levin factory option. so yay there.

  18. Electric sunroof, up/down, or open/shut (vairable). I'd be surprised if not toyota installed , v.impressed.

Impressed with seat "hugs" too. leather touches everywhere. FOOTREST yay. looks lowered , would that ne Levin standard?

Also thhe "schick" of the gear stick changes. very short clutch. also on incline the power delivery was niiiiiccce and smooth ( I now its an economy 1.8).

Wanted to give over deposit straight away but they cannot look at trade in till monday

Cheers guys? anyone point me towards specifications and options available for 2002 Levin?

  19. So i'm looking at a 2002 Levin today, not mint, but nothing a good detialing and clean inside wouldnt tidy right up.

Has limited logbook history and 140K klms so will get RACQ have a inspection (I work there too).

..Can I confirm Levin has side airbags? the front seats have SRS badges on the sides? this is a further attraction for the higher Klm Levin for me as well as the leater wheel/knowb and electric sunroof :yahoo:

..oh the sunroof, are they prone to failing, leaking , or rusting?

...bugger Im heading there now, wanted to slap him a deposit if I like it... ?
