  1. I’ve got a 2004 Camry which after heavy rain has had a drivers side footwell soaked with a puddle of water. I’ve cleaned it up and narrowed it to the drains under the windscreen cowl. (tested with hose into the drain). water still flows out the bottom of the drain or appears to but water flows down from behind the dash down to the floor. what would cause this? Can a partly blocked drain cause water to come inside the car? Short of blocking the drain which isn’t the best thing to do what other solutions are there.
  2. Got a stock standard all round 2004 Camry with 205/60/15 steelies. I've been offered a set of 4 Wheels / tyres from my neighbour (from a Subaru Outback), they are the same 5 x 114.3 stud pattern. They have 235/45/17 alloys. Apart from the speedo being out is there anything that would cause issues or would need changing for this, or are they a simple swap?
  3. I’ll end up getting a new alternator. By the time I’ve replaced those 2 bits I’m probably around the cost of a new. only question now is I’m seeing 80A and 100A alternators. The one in my car is 100A. Is 80A ok for a stock standard car nothing optioned etc.
  4. I've got an issue with my 04 Camry that whilst I am in the drive thru, or in a slow shopping area car park (tight turning, slow idling etc), I have the charging system / battery light flash on and off intermittingly, but it won't ever come on whilst driving even when turning. Given the age of the car I am mainly thinking alternator but I am wandering if there is anything else that could be happening or may need checking up on? Whilst I definitely will do the alternator soon if there is something else I should be looking at it would be good to look at it. Any other things like cords, connectors, belts? The belt looks ok and doesn't have much free play in it. No belt noise either. I have put a multimeter on the battery and when car running it does go up to 13.7V. And battery sits at 11.9V when off.
  5. Having a misfire on my 04 Camry and it’s related to cylinder 1 and 3. Have swapped 2 and 4 coils with 1 and 3 to confirm its coils. due to budget at the moment I am stuck with either Top Gun or Goss. Any reviews on top gun? Or preferences?
  6. Hi ive got a 2004 Camry and just purchased an OBD Hand held scanner from my local auto parts shop. Mainly to scan for codes when the light comes on to save the code read visit to the mechanic. but the scanner I have doesn’t automatically recognise the codes / protocol and gives me a list to try. But the list has around 15 different options. does anyone know what protocol the 04 Camry uses? I plug it in, turn the key to number 2 but doesn’t recognise.
  7. I’m needing to replace my ball joints on the lower control arms. on my previous cars (not Toyota) it’s been easier to replace the entire control arm but watching a YouTube video for the Camry it looks as though it’s easy to just replace the ball joint rather than the entire control arm. Can anyone shed some light on what’s easier? I’ve heard for the control arm you need to lift the engine up to get the control arm removed?
  8. I’m looking at restoring protecting my vinyl dash and all interior trims. My new ride is a 2004 Camry and always been garaged (same family for 19 years) but mine is now going to be outdoors. Ive given the trims and dash a deep clean using Bowdens Own Agent Orange (was beyond due and removed a build up of grime and other stuff. But now want to protect it for the future and do not want to use Amour All. What do people recommend that will nourish and protect and not just give it the fake armour all shine.
  9. I’ve got a ‘new’ 2004 Camry I picked up last week and the multi panel display is not working. No lights, clock etc. buttons don’t work. Mode up down etc. I’ve seen 2 fuses in the manual that relate to these so I’ll check them but are there any other fuses that may? And if it’s not the fuses then how hard are they to replace? I can get some from wreckers. if we do look at wreckers do we need to make sure we get clock only one (non trip computer) if mine was not a trip computer or does it not matter?
