    Sulphur smell

Hi All, have been driving my ZR6 hard around Sydney since Nov 07. Have not smelled any sulphur odour coming from my RAV (occasionally do smell it from a car ahead). Suggest if its a regular occurance then you may wish to have it properly checked.
  3. Apparently the Qld police have ordered 6 of these. Reminds me of an episode of RENO911, where the goofballs after receiving a Hummer for their precinct spent a whole half hour episode attempting to get out of a tight parking spot then finally when free, they ran out of gas.

    2009 rav4 v6

its pretty darn quick, gave a quick test off the lights and flew. its almost the same weight as the aurion.. the only thing im worried now if if petrol prices sky rocket... hopefully it will go down rather than up. having said that from the reviews and the forum here it seems the v6 is just as economical as the 4 cylinder RAV4...not much difference. in fact one review in carpoint claimed v6 model to be more efficient than the 4 Cylinder Rav4. i guess i will find out in the coming weeks. RAV4 V6 is seriously quick - takes off like a rocket at the lights (its great to blast away other performance vehicles - they just dont expect it when they see a RAV4 alongside of them) - a bit of fun for an old bloke. Only problem is: flooring it or driving it hard empties the tank rather quick - however driving it like my wife does, a tank of gas lasts for some time. But really why would you purchase a RAV4 V6 to drive it without the revs, you may as well purchase the 4 cylinder version - its a lot cheaper.
  5. Just some updated fuel usage figures I calculated on my RAV ZR6 - 91RON: 1. Stop/start city driving: 13.4 litres/100km 2. Motorway: 9.6 litres/100km 95RON: 1. Stop/start city driving: 12.5 litres/100km 2. Motorway: 8.7 litres/100km I do drive it hard - so I am quite happy with these figures and will continue to use 95RON since the vehicle appears to drive smoother. :)
  6. qt fan: thats pretty good figures for start/stop driving on ZR6 - can u provide info on the wifes driving style - would she keep revs low <3.5K perhaps? I guess I'm trying to ascertain average fuel usage for both low/high revs in city driving.
  7. Good point made Taka, I will try 95 grade on next fill and measure again based on similar driving style and locations travelled.
  8. Thought I should calculate fuel usage now that my 2007 RAV4 ZR6 has reached 12000 km. This is based purely on city & east driving where the highest speed reached is approx 80k along the Gore Hill freeway to pacific hwy & back (5 trips) without flooring it at anytime. In one week, I had travelled 358km and today just filled up with 47.8 litres- this calculates to '13.4 litres per 100km'. Not good at all in my book. I made sure that during this measurement period, I drove the vehicle like a 4 cylinder - did not call upon the 200KW at any time. I know that if I floor it, the petrol gauge drops very quickly and I'd be refueling well before one week. Does anyone else have similar figures or other figures for the RAV V6??
  9. I purchased the sensys whereis V14 dvd for the RAV satnav (same used on Kluger). It will not alter the settings you describe since, I guess this is a function controlled by the firmware in the Fujitsu unit installed. I cannot understand why Toyota provides the whereis software dvd full of many features however provide a unit installed that cannot access these features. It's a ridiculous situation, since you can purchase much cheaper portable units in the market which will give you access to features such as these. If I had known this, I would have purchased the model WITHOUT sat nav and then purchased a portable attachment. I only hope that Toyota Aust researches this and can provide a cheap upgrade path for the Satnav's installed to keep Customers satisfied.
  10. Thanks, I located the discussion under the Kluger area.
  11. Does anyone know how to set the nav system in the RAV4-V6 to pick up and alert the driver of Cameras (red light, school & speed)? The DVD inserted (number 13) has this information on it (refer to the poweredby.whereis.com.au site) but I cant find anyway on the System installed to mark these so I can be alerted/reminded.
